PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 final table round up

“Outside”:

So, who won?

Well…a stalwart PASer who obviously took it upon himself to be less like his team this year – and my, how that decision has paid off!

He even had a mix of humility/temerity to let his machine-like weekly performances do the talking for him “on & off the pitch” by ACTUALLY getting involved in our What’s App group (erm, the rest of youse are all on that aren’t you?!)

It was a systematic, slowburn, calculated kinda season – where Man City recovered, ratcheted up & reeled in the title with certainty & consistency, our champion pretty much did just the same!

One newbie player kinda threatened to win it this season. The reigning champ hovered in & around…

And one bettered his correct scores tally.

But, to be fair, it sort’ve went to the final week…

Our “Spring” champ started in a mid-table place and basically built the whole season from there…

That 35th place in Week 1 was only one of two low points of a fabulous campaign. Week 2, it was up to 12th, then to the lowest ebb of 39th in Week 3 and for Week 4, a massive leap into the Top Ten at 6th.

And there he stayed with the next two weeks up to 5th & 4th respectively!

Next?

A jump to 2nd.

And so began a cat & mouse tussle for top spot. Weeks 7 & 8 were spent ensconced in that runner up spot, reaching the summit in Week 9, staying there for another week, before a wobble in Week 11going back down to 2nd.

Week 12 it was back on top, to then go on and claim his first title…

So, be upstanding lords, ladies & gents and doff your Stussy bucket hats to Charlie Harris 343 (48) – He. Is. A. Winner!

Alice Levine, Garry Birtles, Vicky McClure, Sleaford Mods, Jermaine Jenas, Samantha Morton, Jake Bugg, Shane Meadows (can you get him involved next season, Chas?!!)  & Rebecca Addlington, put your lace doilies down & let the Shipstone’s flow – yourn boy is a proper football fossneck! Whack that on a cob, mi duck!

Mr H won by a well measured 6 points from the gallant debutant, Pete Clarke, in second place.

Pete’s spent all but 2 weeks in the Top Ten and four top the pile! In any other season…

Anyway, at least he finished seven points ahead of the now deposed champ Danny Ashworth in third place. Imagine if he won it back to back???!

* shudders *

Ryan Graves was back from the dead only 1 point behind in 4th continuing his recent improved showings following last season’s disappointment of 33rd…

Another point further back, Lee Ford reflects on a fine season by finishing in fifth spot with Jack Buxton, after a reminder from his dad, just behind in 6th by virtue of 4 points.

In seventh heaven was the resurgent Peter Morley – a big upgrade on last season’s 20th…and way more profitable!

Continuing a rich seam of prize-winning form, Darrel Shannan scooped 8th place (and I managed to spell his name right too!), a correct score amount of points ahead of Cup Finalist Jason Morris in 9th (feeling light headed being the “Syndicate” top boy this year, Jase?!)

The staunch Red just edged out the staunch (light) Blue & perennial prize money botherer Pete Britton, by just 1 correct score, in 10th…

“Lockdown”:

A mere 1 point & 7 places separated our new champion from Patricia Fernandez 217 (25) in Week 1!

Actually, that’s worth thinking about…

My mum never really recovered from there either. Down to 49th, then to 67th, further down again to 97th, before a flurry of good form in Week 5 & 6 at 88th and 84th! Whooo!

A slip down to 93rd followed – then briefly up to 91st in Week 8.

And then she started on the slippery slope to secure yet another wooden spoon…93rd, 95th, 96th and finally bottom in Week 12, sealing her fate for the final week.

Mr 2-0, Dan H & Gary B made gallant efforts over the season to save Trisha’s blushes, but…

PAS Euro 2021

Yep, all season I’d flagged this as Top 32 to qualify but I only realised in Week 13 that there’s only 24 teams in the Euros!

Duh.

So…

Congratulations to Paul Henshaw for sneaking the last spot (by 3 correct scores!) for entry to PAS Euro 2021.

The Top 24 have qualified and the big draw will take place really soon (with Frankie presenting a What’s App video thingy…)

This competition is still open to everyone but the Top 24 will have a team allocated to them and they will benefit from every goal that team scores adding a point to their tally…and a point for every round progressed!

Oh and it’s £10 all in. For everybody.

Oh.

And you really do want to get involved in this, as the Top 32 will qualify for…

PAS Champions League Group Stages 2021-22!!

Other little bits

Martin Stafford picked up an additional £10 for getting the Best Weekly Score of the Season in Week 7 –  62 (9)

Julian Fernandez picked up £5 for getting the Best Correct Score of the Season by guessing – Derby County 3 Sheffield Wednesday 3.

Plaudits

Thanks again to all for taking time and bothering to play, we couldn’t do it without you!

And a final big thank you to Dave N Dan H for providing all the behind the scenes techky stuff to enable another great (relatively glitch free!) season…

See you in June and then September PASers.

Cheers, and enjoy a double dosed Covid-free summer!

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 13 round up

Aguerrrrrrrrrrr-oh!

New Long Leg:

So the curtain comes down on yet another PAS season, and it was trying, right to the bitter end.

Can PAS continue to flourish and spread joy in such a harsh environment of unpredictability?

Well…

It was yet another unremarkable PAS week considering only 6 people managed 30 points or more!

Darren McC, Tony M & Darrel S went close but they couldn’t halt the two-step march to the top from Jason Morris & Matt Worsfold 34 (5)

Jason ironically has a Liverpool 90th minute goal to thank whilst the West Ham happiness continued although Matt may be rueing not putting in a prediction for the Friday night game…

Congrats lads, that’s £10 each…

You can give me that straight back for your PAS Euros entry fee!

Scratchcard Lanyard:

No doubt glad the season is now over are the 34 bods who couldn’t rustle up more than 20 points this week.

What a season eh?!

Five didn’t even get a correct score.

One didn’t into double figures.

Gareth Morgan 7 (0) gets to hold his hands up for the last “shame” of the season…

* blushing face emoji *

Correct Score of the Week:

Good work people…most popular score was Brentford’s 1-3 win at Bristol City– 19 of youse got that!

Eighteen were well away with the 1-3 away win for Man Utd

7 lapped up the last minute joy of Arsenal 3 WBA 1

Seven more just knew Luton would score against QPR for a 3-1

6 got Barnsley’s “Desmond” with Norwich City

Ben McK, Jason M & Rowan M doffed a cap to Salford’s 3-0 deconstruction of Leyton Orient

Darren McC, Simon B & Eddie O we’re so happy for the Reading 2-2 Huddersfield Town they will actually wear that skirt..

Julian F, Sam A & James C will shout out loud about the humbling of Spurs by Leeds Utd

Justin C nabbed the form book upsetting Portsmouth 0 Accrington Stanley 1

Danny A believed in Everton. A 0-1 kinda belief…

Lewis M said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for his Oldham Athletic 0 Forest Green Rovers 3

However, this week’s best correct score, and Correct Score of the Season, goes to Julian Fernandez for his don’t-call-it-a-comeback inspired, Derby County 3 Sheffield Wednesday 3!

Bet of the Week:

Simon Lindquist was on “Bet of the Week” position 65th in Week 12 so we asked him to provide three results for our “trixie” £3 bet.

And guess what?!

We won, but it could’ve been so much more…

“Well my current P-A-S season has pretty much mirrored Woking’s National League one . . . a decent start followed by an ignominious fall from grace that has seen both of us plummet down our respective tables!!
I’ve decided to go for a (hopefully safe) home wins treble . . .
First Leicester City to beat Newcastle Utd in the Friday evening Prem League fixture
Then Liverpool to beat Southampton in the Premiership on Saturday evening
I was going to go for 3 x Premiership games on sequential evenings . . . but Arsenal’s abject performance this evening . . . a game I’m sure you are still fuming over . . . and the fact that they couldn’t buy a goal at the moment . . . possibly even against an already relegated (by then) West Brom, has caused me to re-think the third selection . . . so I’m going for
Morecambe to beat Bradford on Saturday afternoon in League Two
So three homes:- Leicester, Liverpool and Morecambe”
No, yes and yes.
First rule of PAS Club is never…
Change your mind!

So, £1.51 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th – leaving it on £3.27 for the season…better than nowt!

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 12 round up

Genius…

Desire:

It’s been a tough season, right? Let’s hope the pending returning crowds bring some semblance of order back to predicting scores…next season!

Only nine people managed 30 points or more this week, so, bravo youse!

Stephen P made extremely good (bizarre?) use of the resurgent Mr 2-0 by only actually predicting for 6 matches himself – one of which included Spurs 4-0 win over Sheff Utd!

Unfortunately, it wasn’t quite enough as a whole host of wasted open goal opportunities at Palace meant that Jason Morris 37 (6) secured those vital 4 points to take the £20 prize.

Surprised?

Why?

It’s May – of course there’s a Morris dance…

Don’t Beat The Girl Out Of My Boy:

Meanwhile, back in the world I usually inhabit, nearly half the field scored no more than twenty points.

Nine ended up without a correct score to their name – eek!

2 couldn’t get out of single figures – eek(er)!

Worst of the worst this week was James Challinor 7 (0)

Thanks for saving my mum’s blushes J!

Correct Score of the Week:

McBlimey…most popular score was West ‘Am’s 1-2 win at with Burnley– 25 of youse got that!

Twelve quite rightly predicted Tottenham’s 4-0 thrashing of Sheff U

4 got the dull-all at Hillsborough

Paul V & Angelo H thrilled at the thrilling Norwich 4 Reading 1

Debbie L nabbed the form book upsetting St Mirren 1 Hamilton Academicals 2

Danny A made us all green by happening upon Hibs 0-1 St Johnstone

Simon Linds got in on the Scottish Prem action with Dundee Utd 0 Ross County 2

Lee F just knew Southampton would score against Leicester for a 1-1

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Correct Score of the Season, goes to Sam Arora for his 10-what-in-a-row? inspired, Rangers 4 Celtic 1!

Bet of the Week:

Jazz Sian was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 11 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Nah mate…

BTTS

Brentford v Watford = no!

Luton v Middlesbrough – yessss!

Stoke v QPR – no!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th taking & leaving it on, ahem, £0 – another one to avoid people!

Simon Lindquist is at 65th this week…

Mr L, I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please! Can we go out with a bang?

Table News:

Alpha:

Charlie Harris reclaims top spot with a week to go, a big 10 points ahead of Pete C in second, who in turn is three points ahead of Danny A…

One crashed the Top Ten.

Blackout:

Hunter:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 21 places is Stephen Peaston – honourable mentions go to Jason M (+19), Nick H (+19), Jerry S (+12), Olly O (+11), and Nick W (+11)

Chain:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 15 places are James Challinor & Ben Hogwood – dishonourable mentions go to Pete H (-12), Darren McC (-12), Frankie F (-12), Dan W (-12), and John K (-11)

Email me over your number and i’ll add ya ([email protected])
