PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’24 Week 13 round up

The Christmas gift that keeps giving…

“Off The Hook”:

You can tell it’s the holiday season – people put down crazy scores, crazy scores come in.

Mr 2-0 is oversubscribed as people “forget” or drift off into an alcoholic abyss with little chance of predicting succour…

Form goes out the window & “coupon busters” are celebrated by bookies across the country.

So how do you combat this perennial problem?

Don’t ask me, I had Northampton & Spurs to draw..

However, as missing out on correct scores for Luton, Millwall & Leeds basically discounted you from any chance of winning this week – Jason M, Dave C, Julian F,  Sam A, Andy K & Neil M must be kicking themselves as an early Christmas gift was aptly handed over to The King.

Yep, Jazz Sian 40 (7) did it again – ding, dong! (merrily on high)

The aforementioned correct scores got Mr S on track to land the last weekly twenty quid prize…

Surely you’ll use that to back Arsenal Spurs for a trophy this season, J?!

Here’s the science bit – twenty four of youse managed 30 points or more.

Merry Christmas!

The Magnificent Seven

Assists

C Morris (90’+2) – Luton

P Foden (90’+3) – Man City

“Alala”:

It’s Christmas, there are crazy scores expected and there’s last minute shopping to be done.

Why bother doing your scores?

Andy B, Norman L, Rob C & Ben McK (the only one to have zero correct scores btw!) are wondering just that in a week where only 5 bods managed to score no more than fifteen points.

Surprised Man Yoo’s “run of form” came to a juddering halt? Well, don’t be.

Bijay Lama 9 (1) spectacularly returned to what he is doing best this season as the parallel form with the Red Devils continues…don’t tell Ruben, he might choke on his sprouts.

Correct Score of the Week:

A few (and I mean a few!) crackers here…most popular score was St Mirren’s 1-2 defeat of Ross County – 31 of youse got that!

Nineteen will shout out loud about the four goal humbling of Oxford by Leeds

Stuart F & Reagon K had their secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Goodison.

Howard T decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards at Fulham. And he did…

However, the final week’s best correct score goes to, Ray Bird for his I’ve-been-away-but-now-I’m-back-baby inspired, Ipswich 0 Newcastle 4!

Bet of the Week:

David Goggin was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 12 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

“Villa, Palace & Bournemouth all to win”

Villa – oh yes!
Palace – if only you believed in Jesus…
Bournemouth – smashed in!
That’s the type of trixie we’re looking for – bravo D!

So, £10.40 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd leaving it on £10.40 – it’s a Christmas miracle!

Great effort from all our BotWers this season.

Say it quietly, but I think we may be onto something here…or not!

Table News:

“Alcohol”:

Two crashed the Top Ten and highest climber this week, up a whopping 24 places is Julian Fernandez – honourable mentions go to Jamie S (+15), Simon B (+17), Dave C (+21), Rich L (+17), David M (+15), and Sam A (+19)

“Left Behind”:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 18 places are Ben McKeown, Martin Stafford, David Goggin & Neil Templeton – dishonourable mentions go to Andy B (-14), Anders H (-14), Danny A (-17) and Rob C (-14)

Full season update is imminent once I can work out what day it is…

Actually, I’ll get it done before you go back to work in the New Year – honest!

Special thanks to Dan & Dave once again for all their tireless work behind the scenes – they’ve really earned their sub-minimum wage salaries lately…
