PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’25 Week 1 round up

The *$%**%! magic of the Cup!

Skylarkin’:

We’re back! With a bang!

No, not Vinicius Jr – PAS!

Although, given the sharpness of this update, I could’ve waxed lyrical about “as we haven’t signed anyone, imagine if Havertz gets injured, we’re f-“, how karma works (something about humble mumbling…) and gone into the absurdness (and utter delight) of the absence of that unnecessary thing called VAR in the Cup…

But I won’t.

I’ll cut to the chase as it was all about the “hot out the blocks” points trailblazers – and, they deserve props, right?

Two PASers were 3 x flame emojis this weekend reaching the heady heights of 50 points.

Imagine?!!

Bijay L eschewed the clutches of last season’s bout of Woodenspoonitis & put up a good fight. A really good fight!

However, he was ultimately undone by a couple of added-on time goals.

Boooo. And, indeed, hisssss…

Nick Hogwood 52 (8) bagged a load of correct scores including 2 x big bonus pointers to power to victory (actually, he’s definitely indebted to that madness at The Hawthorns…).

Big up!

Anyone else close?

Nine punters ended up hitting the hallowed 40 point marker (and beyond) but a reward wasn’t forthcoming – sometimes football can be a cruel mistress…

So, congrats Mr H, the second season on the trot the £20 is winging its way back to you in Week 1 – everything else is a bonus for you once again this season!

The Grrreat Eight

Assists

H Maguire (90’+3) – Man Utd

C Paterson (90’+3) / J Molumby (90+6) – Sheff Wed / WBA

D Keillor-Dunn (90′) – Barnsley

Bless You:

Did you score 30 points + this week? Wow, we’re great aren’t we…!

Forty one (!) of us managed that, but 9 punters couldn’t manage any more than 15 points this week  – and 10 players couldn’t muster a correct score!

Shocking.

Not as shocking as that game in Devon though, eh?

Anyway…

Everyone managed to break into double digits – but feeling no joy in Week 1 is Will Oppong 12 (0).

Willo, you spared Mr 2-0’s blushes – you’re too kind young man!

Correct Score of the Week:

Really?!…most popular score was Celtic’s 5-0 win over Raith Rovers – 41(!!) of youse got that!

Nineteen got Aberdeen 3 Dunfermline 0

9 had Dundee’s merciless deconstruction of Airdrieonians

4 celebrated like Walsall at Highbury in ’83 after that 2-3 at St Andrew’s

Bijay L got the dull-all at Deepdale

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Alan Clarke for his they-don’t-call-me-Sniffer-for-nothing-look-what-I-unearthed inspired, Coventry 1 Ipswich 4!

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed quite spectacularly in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

But last season, we did alright. Welllllll, alright(ish)…

So!

We’re being brave and we’re gonna stick with it to see how we go!

How?

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK…

The person on 83rd will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 60th in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 33rd in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 83rd…yeah?!

Good.

So, Leo Clarke is first up.

Leo, I need your 3 selections by Friday please (ask your dad if you’re allowed to get involved in betting first though mate!) ! It can be homes, aways or draws. Or a mix of all three. It doesn’t have to be football! It can be horses! Or rugby! Or dogs! Or fighting crickets! But not cricket…that’s a step too far!

Let’s get off to a winning start for a change.

No pressure young man…

Wanna join?

Why?

Well, I send round reminders that you don’t have to check your email for.

Erm…some people are quite funny (some are annoying) & hopefully we’ll get some good pics of away fans at games.

We will crush any “hilarious GIFs” though…

Plus, you can gloat when you land that 9 pointer in the 91st minute!

Please note, red & yellow cards will be brandished for any inappropriate behaviour.

Email me over your number and i’ll add ya ([email protected])
