PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 6 round up

Imagine having the chance to capture a West Ham fan “mid-gloat” as the third 1st half goal went in…

Great DJ:

In a week that saw Frankie F blaze out the traps like the aforementioned West Ham, it took a Super Sunday comeback to secure this week’s £20 weekly prize.

Only 3 punters made it past thirty points this week (only 8 made it past 25!) – one of them, Frankie, dropped off dramatically on Sunday only adding 6 more points.

Alex R looked good to go on Saturday too, but only managed five more points after that.

So our winner only actually predicted for 29 games –  but still managed to amass a bumper 15 points on the Day of Rest.

Congrats to Bijay Lama 43 (9) then – no doubt he’ll be lighting up the What’s App group and shining a light on his less eminent buddies to boot!

And why not eh, B?! It’s good to gloat…

That’s Not My Name:

It’s becoming apparent that consistency in football is like truisms from politicians – sporadic at best, short-lived, misleading & consigned to a long last past where we had jumpers for goa…blah blah blah

30 people scored no more than 15 points in another coupon-busting round of fixtures.

Six of whom managed zero correct scores.

Two didn’t even get to double-figure points.

Sam Craig 6 (0) saved Paul V’s blushes this week…

Correct Score of the Week:

We’re having to work for it this season …most popular score was Stoke’s 1-0 defeat of Derby County– 24 of us got that!

Twenty one got Watford 3 Birmingham 0

Alex R, James C & Reagon K got the dull-all at St Andrew’s

Julian F, David G & Andy S just knew Toon wouldn’t score against Brighton for a 3-0

Francesca F & Rob C nabbed the form book upsetting Barnsley 1 Sheff Wed 2

Norman L somehow stumbled on Bristol City 0 Rotherham 2

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Sam Arora for his welcome-back-Harry inspired, Leicester 3 Man Utd 1!

Bet of the Week:

Paul Henshaw was on “Bet of the Week” position 11th in Week 5 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He followed the lead of the previous “syndicate” member up here last week…

Barnsley – whaaaat?!
Brentford – duh!
Norwich – oooof!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th – rubbish!

John Jennings is at 33rd this week…

JJ, I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please! We need a winner to buck a worrying trend!

Table News:

Be The One:

Bijay Lama climbs thirteen places to the summit, 6 points ahead of Simon B in second, who in turn is one point ahead of Ben H…

Three crashed the Top Ten.

We Started Nothing:

Howard Thomas is still bottom, four points behind Dan H, who in turn is 1 point off Dave C…

Fruit Machine:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 40 places is Alex Rossi – honourable mentions go to Frankie F (+24), Predictz (+20), and Mark J B (+22)

We Walk:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 27 places is Sam Craig – dishonourable mentions go to Matt W (-21), Harry H (-22), Scott H (-20), Paul W (-20), and Olly O (-21)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 5 round up

“Yeah…but can you stay on the pitch for 90 minutes? Huh?!”

The Things That Dreams Are Made Of:

A year ago we had this…

“We’re living in strange times right now – strange things like…Will football end just as Liverpool have re-invented it with a blast from the 80s? Will we ever be allowed out of our houses ever again?

Will we eventually get sick of eating plain pasta? And will my quest to win the competition I founded be scuppered just as things look as rosy as they’ve ever been? Yep, proper strange times…”

A lot changes in a year, eh?

Or does it?!

6 mere mortals passed the 30 point barrier this week and that included a Fernandez  – so yeah, proper strange week…

Francesca F gave it her best shot but was blasted out the water by Neil Osborne 35 (5).

This week’s £20 winner wasn’t helped by any last minute goals or misses or VAR decisions – he simply nailed a 9 pointer and that did for the chasing pack. Simple.

Well done Neil, my little girl is in bits – but has learnt the valuable life lesson to never trust Yorkshire folk to help you out if you’re a Red Rose!

Being Boiled:

Nowt stranger than folk!

30 punters failed to cross the 15 points line this week – brutal!

Fourteen poor souls couldn’t muster a correct score between them either.

But at least Mr 2-0 8 (0) had Samantha Pillett and two thirds of the PAS Board for company as they all contemplated being the worst of the worst in the worst of times…

Correct Score of the Week:

Like hen’s teeth…most popular score was Citeh’s 0-3 win at Fulham– 27 of youse got that!

Rob C, Debbie L & John J celebrated the Fylde Coast derby bore draw

Sam C said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for her Boro 3 Stoke 0

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Neil Osborne for his ecky-thump inspired, AFC Bournemouth 2 Barnsley 3!

Bet of the Week:

Mark Seels was on “Bet of the Week” position 65th in Week 4 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We did a Liverpool at home…

Everton – oh no!
Leicester – oh yes!
Lincoln – oh no!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th – bah…

Paul Henshaw is at 11th this week…

Mr H, I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please! We need a winner – let’s see if you best the last “syndicate” member’s effort!

Table News:

Empire State Human:

Simon Buxton climbs one place to the top, 1 point ahead of Neil O in second, who in turn is five points ahead of Pete C…

Four crashed the Top Ten.

Howard Thomas remains anchored to the bottom, now three points behind Dave C, who in turn is 2 points off Dan H…

The Sound Of The Crowd:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 37 places is Frankie Fernandez (that’s my gal!) – honourable mentions go to Olly O (+31), Bry D (+26), Karina H (+32), Sam C (+26), Lily T (+28), and Debbie L (+26) – go gals!

Tell Me When:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 30 places is Matthew Murphy – dishonourable mentions go to Anders H (-24), Martin S (-25), Alex R (-24), Andy S (-22), Greg F (-21), and Samantha P (-25)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 4 round up

“The future’s bright…”

The Divine Chord:

So, Covid continues to put pay to our fixture list, and boy, did some of us need that extra game eh?

In a week that saw yet another game postponed, only 13 players managed to score 30 points or more!

Three of them even managed to top 35 points.

Very impressive stuff.

John K was the early pacesetter. And it was all about an early start as Sunday & Monday games offered scant return…

Our £20 weekly winner amassed a massive 19 points early doors, cruelly snatching a veteran PASer’s moment of glory from his grasp to consign him to wait even longer for that elusive weekly win (and he’s been waiting since the 90s folks!)

Yep, Lee Ford 40 (6) must have been happier than a Burnley fan (or one of them lot down the road) this week as the ridiculous VAR decisions enabled him four points that denied Charlie H the weekly win!

Well done sir – your enthusiasm for PAS has been infectious (no pun intended) since you joined, a well deserved win – more power to your predicting elbow!

We Will Always Love You:

A crippling week for some, especially the 8 bods who scored no more than 15 points.

And five of them didn’t even get a correct score!

However…

Just because it’s your birthday, doesn’t mean it’s all jelly & ice cream!

Patricia Fernandez 5 (0) was mostly resembling a blown out birthday cake candle this week as a kinda family trait of worstest scores was the order of the special day…

Frankie approved mum…ummmm, happy birthday?! x

Correct Score of the Week:

Didn’t we have a luvverly time…most popular score was Leicester’s 1-2 win at Brighton– 31 of us got that!

Twenty seven doffed a cap to Norwich City’s 3-0 deconstruction of Luton Town

26 were all over the Scottish league-title winning 3-0 to the ‘Gers

Twelve got the dull-all at The Hawthorns

9 got Lincoln 3 Crewe 0

Nine more got the 3 goal demolition of Sheffield Wednesday

7 celebrated the bore draw between Villa & Wolves

Five had Motherwell’s 3-1 win over Livingston

Rich L, Paul V & Tim P obviously guessed Spurs would beat Palace 4-1

However, this week’s best correct score goes to David Goggin for his only-mugs-concentrate-on-the-Old-Firm inspired, St Johnstone 1 Hibs 0!

Bet of the Week:

Norman Lee was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 3 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Fail…

“Cardiff, Leicester and Livingston all to win”
No, yes, no…

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th – less than auspicious start then…

Mark Seels is at 65th this week….

Seelsy, I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please! We need a winner – let’s not get all “Scousey” eh?!

Table News:

Pink Champagne:

Pete Clarke climbs one place to the top, 7 points ahead of Simon B in second, who in turn is six points ahead of Ben H…

Five crashed the Top Ten.

Born to Lose:

Howard Thomas slips a couple of places to anchor the table, two points behind Dave C, who in turn is 1 point off Gary McC…

We Go On:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 58 places is Lee Ford – honourable mentions go to Charlie H (+33), John K (+42), Paul V (+30), and Alex R (+32)

Since I Left You:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 36 places is Patricia Fernandez – dishonourable mentions go to Lily T (-30), Sam A (-25), Pete B (-25), Andy C (-25), Gareth M (-26), Peter M (-29), and Martin S (-27)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 3 round up

“Some year, ’65…”

(This Is For The) Better Days:

I’d like to say it was a lively Week 3 right up to Sunday evening.

But a tightly bunched field of 21 punters reaching & breaching the 30 point mark simply couldn’t make the ground up on someone who had Luton’s miraculous comeback tucked under his belt.

Any one of those 20 chasers could have won it. But they didn’t.

And in the end, those 5 bonus points were all the difference…

That 9 pointer catapulted debutant Pete Clarke 43 (6) right to the top, and there he kept a tight grip on that weekly £20 prize.

Well done Pete – now you know how easy it is to make a profit on this game, you can rope in 20 of your mates next season…<winking emoji>

“’Punchbag:

Oooof!

Over a third of the runners and riders failed to notch up more than 20 points this week.

Thirteen of those suffered the ignominy of collecting zero correct scores…

Those feeling the pain particularly pressing?

Darren McCarthy & Lewis Marriott 12 (0) kept each other company – and shared the blushes.

Nice to see a seasoned underachiever keep a newbie under his watchful eye though…respeck!

Correct Score of the Week:

Some good predicting this week…most popular score was Barnsley’s 2-1 win over ‘Wall– 33 of youse got that!

Four had their secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Stamford Bridge

Anders H, Moi & Andy S celebrated the bore draw between Palace & Fulham

Rich L, Tony M & Tom M just knew Leyton Orient would score against Tranmere Rovers for a 1-3

Gareth M & Pete B saw their typos come good on the game at Spurs

Paul C was all over the Scottish League Cup Final 0-1 to the history making Saints of Johnstone

James C doffed a cap to PNE’s 3-0 deconstruction of Huddersfield

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Pete Clarke for his this-ain’t-beginners-luck-matey inspired, Luton Town 3 Sheffield Wednesday 2!

Bet of the Week:

Greg Fleming was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 2 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We won! Whooo!

Watford to beat Bournemouth – nay!
Brentford to beat Stoke – yay!
Cardiff Middlesbrough draw – double yay!

So, £4.32 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd – great start!

Norman Lee is at 45th this week….

Normski, I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please! The benchmark has been set…no pressure!

Table News:

Who Cares What The Question Is?:

Simon Buxton remains in top spot, now 6 points ahead of Pete C in second, who in turn is three points ahead of Dan W…

Seven crashed the Top Ten.

No Trophy:

Current wooden spooner Darren McCarthy falls eleven places to the bottom, one point behind David G, who in turn is 1 point off Howard T…

Chicken Payback:

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 2 round up

“Oh, I do like to be beside the seaside…”

Da Funk:

It was a proper bunfight to be the best of a bad bunch in Week 2. Well, not that bad a bunch…and not much of a bunfight in the end either actually.

Only ten of youse got 30 points or more – so well done you. I think 30 is the new 50 this season!

Tim P & Paul H tried their best to last the distance but fell away when it really mattered.

Neil O really made a push for the line…

But heading up the quartet who got nearest to flirting with a weekly win was my new Head of Debt Chasing, Simon Buxton 44 (8).

Mr B showed the same ruthlessness in point collecting as he does with securing late entry fees (ask Jack!) and has Newcastle’s audacity to score at OT  to thank for securing the twenty nicker.

Good work Simon! You can put him down now….

Burnin‘”:

5 poor souls got zero correct scores.

Twelve scored less than 15 points…

Not the best week to be celebrating a “big” birthday then.

Luckily for Rob Currin 11 (0) his 40th is this Saturday…

Happy birthday Roberto?

Correct Score of the Week:

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to Parkhead…most popular score was Leicester’s 1-2 win at Villa – 33 of youse got that!

Sixteen just knew Toon would score against Man Yoo for a 3-1

6 turned up Burnley 0 WBA 0. Then smiled a little bit as they thought of those poor souls that were spared actually being there…

Four got the very annoying last minute spoiling Rangers 4 Dundee United 1

Nick H & Alex R (happy birthday!) doffed a cap to Stoke City’s 3-0 deconstruction of Luton Town

Reagon K was all over the 0-2 to Boro

Simon B made us all green by happening upon Wolves 1-0 Leeds Utd

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Norman Lee for his I-love-that-at-least-one-league-is-kinda-predictable inspired, Motherwell 0 St Johnstone 3!

Bet of the Week:

Lewis Marriott was on “Bet of the Week” position 11th in Week 1 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

It was a fail…

– Shef Wed to beat Birmingham – nope!
– The mighty O’s to beat Port Vale – nope!
– Man U to thrash the Toon – yep (sort’ve!)

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th – not the best start!

Greg Fleming is at 33rd this week….

Gregor, I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please! Remember, the family name is on the line here…no pressure!

Table News:

Harder Better Faster Stronger:

Simon Buxton will be beaming with joy as he moves up 74 places to go 3 points ahead of Tim P & Neil O who are in turn five points ahead of the current league champion in fourth…

Eight crashed the Top Ten. Brutal!

Rollin’ & Scratchin‘”:

Hira Yonzan remains rooted to the bottom, one point behind Mike K, who in turn is 1 point off Howard T…

One More Time:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 87 places(!) is Paul Henshaw – honourable mentions go to Simon B (+74), Arthur H (+52), Reagon K (+54), Samantha P (+50), Harry H (+56), Scott H (+58) and Dan W (+75)

Instant Crush:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 76 places is Rob Currin – dishonourable mentions go to Jazz S (-49), Lewis M (-45), Sam A (-61), Justin C (-69), Dave C (-52), Rowan M (-58), Chris B (-45) and Paul D (-46)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’21 Week 1 round up

“You WILL pay on time next season…”

Mister Natural:

New year, new start ‘n’ all that.

I did my scores from a position of excellent preparation, plenty of research and a knowing that it’d be a week that would go as it ought to go…

It didn’t. It hasn’t for a while eh?

So apologies for the lateness of this update – i’ve been in shock. And in pubs. Actually that’s a lie. I’ve extended dry Jan to Feb…

Quite a lot of you clearly knew what I didn’t…but not that many for a change! Hurrah for a very random Week 1!

Best of the bunch?

Justin Corliss 23 (3) deftly manoeuvred to the front of the pack thanks to, well, Stoke & Spurs basically!

And therein securing quite possibly the lowest winning score in PAS history. Quite a feat. Considering 18 others could have done it too this week…

If you got 20 points or more this week, you were one of nine – I doff my cap, you jammy…

So, congrats Justin, £20 winging it’s way to you ASAP – you’ve already broke even!

Always the best week to win it – innit!

Hard Times:

Did you score more than Mr 2-0 this week?

Wow. To be fair that was quite an achievement…yes, I’m hugging myself in a self conglatulatory manner. And?

34 of youse couldn’t manage that this week.

Shocking.

Not as shocking as Leicester though eh?! <Miguel Almiron emoji face>

Eighteen players didn’t manage a correct score and 7 couldn’t muster up a measly 10 points!

One fella wishing he was being more “Brendan” though is Hira Yonzan 7 (0).

A woeful start sees him at the bottom of the pile in the opening week – a lesson learnt not to entrust your scores to “form and/or home advantage”…

What will the family say H??!

Correct Score of the Week:

In the bleak mid winter…you did very well! Most popular score was Celtic’s 1-2 win at St Johnstone– 22 of youse got that!

Nine doffed a cap to Citeh’s 3-0 deconstruction of Spurs

5 got West Ham 3 Sheff Utd 0

Five more had Cardiff’s 3-1 win over Coventry

4 believed in Leicester. A 3-1 kinda belief…

Tony M, Reagon K & Sam O got Lincoln’s “Desmond” with Accrington Stanley

Danny A, Rowan M & Tom M got the dull-all at Pittodrie

Anders H & Steve M nabbed the form book upsetting WBA 1 Man Utd 1

Sam A & Lewis M got the 3 goal demolition of Livingston by Dundee Utd

Jason M & Paul C celebrated the bore draw between Brighton & Villa

John J & Justin C thrilled at the thrilling Norwich 4 Stoke 1

Lewis M (again) was well away with the 0-2 away win for Barnsley

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Julian Fernandez for his I-knew-my-bruv-would-get-this-the-polar-opposite-wrong inspired, Arsenal 4 Leeds Utd 2

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed quite spectacularly in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

But last season, we did alright. Welllllll, alright(ish)…

So!

We’re being brave and we’re gonna stick with it to see how we go!

How?

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK…

The person on 11th will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 33rd in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 65th in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 11th…yeah?!

Good.

So, debutant Lewis Marriott is first up.

Lewis, I need your 3 selections by Friday please! It can be a home, away or draw. It doesn’t have to be football! It can be horses! Or dogs! Or fighting crickets! But not cricket…that’s a step too far!

Let’s get off to a winning start for a change.

No pressure…

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Final table round up!

“La vida loca”:

So, who won?

Well…a northern PASer who has, let’s say, “connections”. And one who obviously took it upon himself to be more like his Super 6 predictions this season…and my, how that decision has paid off!

He let his “this-is-how-to-win-a-league-title” weekly performances do the talking for him “on the pitch” and only got involved on our What’s App group (erm, the rest of youse are all on that aren’t you?!) to gently chide the Arse…(grrrrr)

It was a close, compacted, confusing Covid catastrophe of a season – whilst Liverpool smoothly glide their way to the title (come on you Saints!) with certainty & consistency in the (non) real world, our champion battled & ground through the gears on their way to victory!

A few players kinda threatened to win it, but…

No one got close to the magnificent correct score tally. The third-best ever. However, the points tally missed out on the Top 15 highest points tally ever…another oddity in an, ahem, “odd” year.

To be frank, it was another of those almost perfect campaigns…

Our “Winter” champ started in the “Top Ten” at a comfy 7th, dropped to 43rd, then recovered back up to 7th heaven in Week 3.

Then, the relentless ascent started –  up to 3rd, then 2nd before hitting the summit at the halfway point.

More dips?

Nope.

From Week 6 it was all about turning the screw on the opposition.

With the impeccable timing of the seasoned PAS pro he is, when really it mattered, any challengers were brushed aside in a remarkable performance of consistency!

So, be upstanding lords, ladies & gents and doff your caps to Danny Ashworth 361 (57) – He. Is. A. Winner!

Tyrone Dobbs, Max George, Michelle Keegan, The Royle Family, Paul Scholes, Terry Christian, Elkie Brooks, Olivia Attwood, Harpurhey, Middy, Staly Vegas & Yonners – your kid is mint!

Danny Boy won with a whopping 14 point lead over Mr Consistency himself, Pete Brittonin second place.

And he finished fourteen points ahead of “International Week” non-apologist Martin Stafford in third spot.

Paul Smith was a further 8 points behind in a fashionable 4th, with Kate Slee 4 points shy in 5th proudly flying the “girls can do it too y’know” banner as always    : )

Just two points further back, Lee Ford can reflect on a fine season finishing in sixth spot, with a Sp*rs giddy Steve Meaton following in 7th virtue of 4 points.

In eighth place (only 4 correct scores back) was resident purveyor of footy tops, Alex Taylor and our friend from the Nord(ic), via Woking, Simon Lindquist was a further three correct scores behind in 9th.

Newbie Darrell Shannon just edged out The PAS King courtesy of a point in 10th…welcome D!

“Lockdown”:

Only 13 points, but 61 places, separated our new champion from my ol’ mucker Darren McCarthy 221 (18) in Week 1!

Actually, that’s worth thinking about…overall, he got 26 points & 4 correct scores less than Jamie Fairhurst did last year.

Awkward…

Starting in 68th, the young Red Blue never really recovered.

Like a role model to rubbish yo-yoing, it was then 98th, up to 81st, back to 90th, then down again in Week 5 to 94th!

Week 6 it was down to 96th.

And a weekly sequence of flitting between 98th & 96th then followed with a slip down again to 98th in Week 10.

Week 11 saw him nestled in at rock bottom

And there he stayed, securing the wooden spoon to round off a thoroughly miserable year…

Samantha P, Stuart F & Rob C made gallant efforts over the season to save Dazzler’s blushes, but…

Spot Prizers

Ok, YOU have finished on these positions AND you HAVE won those prizes!

Jazz Sian on 11th(!), Mark J Brown on 12th, Francesca Fernandez on 17th, Paul Henshaw on 23rd, John King on 30th, Ryan Graves on 33rd, Jason Morris on 39th, Predictz on 42nd, Mark Seels on 45th, Debbie Lee on 49th, Simon Buxton on 54th, Andy Fowler on 57th, John Jennings on 65th, Bijay Lama on 67th, SGlynn Fairhurst on 71st, Steve Morton on 78th, James Challinor on 83rd, Rowan Marriott on 89th, Patricia Fernandez on 97th and Darren McCarthy on 101st.

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 13 round up

“He’s making a list, he’s checking it twice…”

A Little Respect”:

You can tell it’s the holiday season – people put down crazy scores, crazy scores come in.

Mr 2-0 is oversubscribed as people “forget” or drift off into an alcoholic abyss with little chance of predicting succour.

Form goes out the window & “coupon busters” are celebrated by bookies across the country.

So how do you combat this perennial problem?

Don’t ask me, I had St Mirren v St Johnstone as 0-0 & West Brom to beat Villa 2-1…

However, as Aberdeen netted in the last minute (96th actually!) at Rugby Park (i’m ignoring its new name…), the miracle of Christmas left Greg F trailing in the wake of Martin Stafford 44 (8)

Welbeck, Wycombe and quintuplet of 5 correct scores in a row – ding, dong! (merrily on high)

Second weekly win of the season & 2nd Christmas (Week 13) in a row for Mr S…

I can just copy n paste this then –

“Sawreetferthee M, eeeyafflaff?!

Art suppin bowt?

Best use that twenty quid, eh?!”

Ahem,

Here’s the science bit – 26 of youse managed 25 points or more.

Merry Christmas!

Who Needs Love Like That”:

It’s Christmas, there are crazy scores expected and there’s last minute (online) shopping to be done.

Why bother doing your scores?

Matt W, Simon B, Darren McC, David G, Dom W, Hira Y & John J are wondering just that in a week where 12 bods only managed 15 points or less.

Someone who really didn’t have a Scooby this week was newbie Samantha Pillet 5 (0) – don’t run off scared Sam, come back brighter!

Correct Score of the Week:

I hate football…most popular score was Everton’s 2-1 win over Arsenal– 31 of youse got that! (grrrrrrr…)

Thirteen believed in Rangers. A 3-1 kinda belief…

10 just knew Reading would score against Brentford for a 3-1

Scott H, Andy F & Bijay L doffed a cap to Chelsea’s 3-0 deconstruction of West ‘Am

Nick H, Debbie L & Justin C were all over the Big Sam welcoming 0-3 to the Villa

Andy F (again) & Bry D landed on the two-two in Glasgow. The wrong side of Glasgow…

Gary McC obviously guessed Burnley would beat Wolves 2-1

Andy S will shout out loud about the humbling of Spurs by Leicester

Reagon K got the dull-all at Kenilworth Road

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Paul Vinson for his it’s-Christmas-this-may-well-be-a-cracker inspired, St Mirren 3 St Johnstone 2!

Bet of the Week:

George Triantafillou was on “Bet of the Week” position 65th in Week 12 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He struck again!

Home wins for…
Swansea – yes!
Newcastle – no, damn that Scotty P!
Rangers – yes (after a scare!)

So, £1.87 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th leaving it on a merry £3.93!

Great effort from all our BoTWers this season.

Say it quietly, but I think we may be onto something here…or not.

Table News:

Three crashed the Top Ten!

Sometimes:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 28 places is John King – honourable mentions go to Greg F (+20), and Harry H (+15)

Ship Of Fools:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 28 places is John Jennings – dishonourable mentions go to Pete H (-19), Hira Y (-14), and Simon B (-14)

Full season update is imminent once I can work out what day it is…

Actually, I’ll get it done before you go back to work – honest!

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 12 round up

“Did you know that Burnley consumes two thirds of the world’s supply of Benedictine? No, really. The East Lancs were stationed near the distillery during WW1. It was used as a hospital and the monks doled out the booze. Contrary to received wisdom that Benedictine is something you drink out of a bag on a park bench, it is actually a health giving elixir of 26 herbs. And brandy. The drink of choice at Turf Moor is “Bene n hot” – Benedictine, slice of lemon and hot water. Lovely. Like liquid Lockets. So we drink that, watch paint dry and abuse the neighbours. Just the same” – The Happy Place

Unputdownable”:

Football is rubbish eh?

Bookselling sites are hosting whole evenings of viewing, no one can actually go to actual games anymore and VAR is doing it’s utmost to derail our beautiful game (PAS, not the game. Although…).

So predicting scores is taking one hell of a beating at the minute.

I may be wrong, but I think this week is the closest week ever in terms of players vying to win the £20 prize.

Twenty five players broke the 25 point mark and only, get this, 7 got over thirty points!

Danny A went close but he wasn’t really bothered, being top n all that.

Will O went closer but didn’t submit any Sunday scores (?!).

Dave C went really close but put his trust in the Gunners…

and, Tim P went really really close but didn’t register a single point after the Celtic game!

So, it turned out to be a London underdog day in the end!

Bijay Lama 35 (5) had it all to do (even missing one game!) and thanks to s sterling Fulham performance and a stirring Palace comeback, he netted the weekly win by one point thanks to both those unlikely 1-1 draws.

God bless ‘Dinium, eh?!

Merry Christmas Bijay!

Murphy’s Law”:

So 25 points was the heady heights.

Wow.

Eleven punters got 15 points or less.

Ow!

Six of youse didn’t manage a correct score, with Richard H & last week’s winner posting a measly 13 points each.

However, Covid won’t be the only topic of conversation in the households of  Nick Hogwood, John Jennings & George Triantafillou 11 (0)

Bah ‘umbug…

Correct Score of the Week:

Can’t wait til this is all over …most popular score was Norwich’s 1-2 win at Blackburn– 27 of youse got that!

Sixteen got Southampton 3 Sheff Utd 0

8 got the 1-3 Bees win over Forest

Gary B, Chris D & Justin C doffed a cap to Leicester’s 3-0 deconstruction of Brighton

Dave C, Bijay L & Gary McC said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for their Bristol Rovers 3-0 Plymouth Argyle

Predictz & Bijay L (again!) saw their typo come good on the game at Craven Cottage

Neil O & Chris B got the dull-all at Derby

Tim P was all over the south Wales derby 0-2 to Swansea

Danny A revelled in the schadenfreude of Villa’s late late show

Neil O (again!) got 3 goal demolition of Millwall by Middlesbro

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Andy Smith for his choose-Scotland-choose-Edinburgh-choose-the-team-with-the-best-kit-in-all-the-leagues inspired, Hamilton 0 Hibs 4

Bet of the Week:

George Triantafillou was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 11 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Oooops….

Celtic 3-0 – not quite

Arsenal 2-0 – not at all

Liverpool 0-3 – not in a million years…

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th leaving it on a nice £6!  Go 45!

George Triantafillou is at 65th this week…so he gets to redeem himself!

Georgie, I need your 3 team treble by Friday lunchtime please – gonna go for some Aussie rules games?!!

Table News:

Something More:

Danny Ashworth stays top, now a title winning 16 points clear of Pete B who in turn is seventeen points ahead of Paul S in third – there’s people on the pitch…(yawn)

One (!) crashed the Top Ten.

Evil Eyes:

Darren McCarthy remains rock bottom, still five points behind Stuart F who, in turn, is 3 points off Rob C

Narcissus:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 24 places is Tim Payne – honourable mentions go to Will O (+20), Bijay L (+20), and Charlie H (+18).

Overpowered:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 20 places is George Triantafillou – dishonourable mentions go to John J (-17), Howard T (-16), and Richard H (-16)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 11 round up

PAS teaser campaign picks up pace…

It Must Be Magic:

It was an above average week this week, even Mr 2-0 sat happily in the middle on 30 points!

Bah.

But average it was not at the top of the weekly pile – it was a right ol’ ding dong!

Thirty eight players breached 30 points or more and five of them produced our very own Super Saturday. And Sunday…and Monday.

Paul H was right up there on Sunday morning – but then spluttered until Monday night.

Ben McK made a surprise foray to the top table but fizzled out after 4 points from Vardy’s 90th minute party piece.

John J looked really good for a weekly win but faded after 8 points gifted courtesy of a Jermaine Defoe last minute goal (grrrrr!)

That left Howard Thomas 43 (7) out front and odds on for a top bins accolade.

However, putting faith in Arsenal & Celtic these days is a dangerous, nay, foolish pursuit…

On to Monday then, and Tony Morris 43 (7) couldn’t have possibly envisaged his 1-2 Southampton prediction coming in (HOW was that a pen??!) but, come in it did!

So we have joint winners splitting the £20 prize…and Tony M’s second of the season!

Well played chaps, shame those overpriced Christmas market mulled wines aren’t around this year eh?!

Or not…

Behind The Groove:

Seven of us suffered the nightmare (well) before Christmas this week.

As Mr 2-0 lorded it up on 30 points, we hit the misery of not even getting beyond 15 points.

Four of us didn’t register a correct score.

We all managed to get into double figures though! Ummmm, yay?

David Goggin 11 (0) you were marginally the worst of us all…

Egg nog?

Correct Score of the Week:

No ideas…most popular score was Southampton’s 1-2 win at Brighton– 34 of youse got that!

Thirty four more had Chelsea’s 3-1 win over Leeds

27 got the very annoying last minute spoiling Ross County 0 Rangers 4

Eleven just knew West Ham would score against Man Utd for a 1-3

Ben H, Rob C & Reagon K were grateful for the 3-1 Coventry win over Rotherham

Patricia F & Paul V believed in St Johnstone. A 1-1 kinda belief…

Ben McK nabbed the form book upsetting Bristol City 0 Birmingham City 1

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Justin Corliss for his now-the-Kopites-are-back inspired, Liverpool 4 Wolves 0!

Bet of the Week:

Paul Carter was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 10 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We won! A bit…
3 away wins
Bournemouth – whoomp!
Rangers – whoomp!
Aberdeen – whimper!

So, £1.70 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd bringing it to a lively £5.10!   Whoo!

George Triantafillou is at 45th this week…

Cobber, I need your 3 team treble by Friday lunchtime please – can you get the first full house?!

Table News:

Since Day One:

Danny Ashworth stays top, 8 points clear of Pete B who in turn is sixteen points ahead of Paul S in third…it is all over now.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

I Need Your Lovin’:

Darren McCarthy slipped three places to the basement spot, five points behind Stuart F who in turn is 2 points off Neil O

Ooo La La La:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 32 places is Howard Thomas – honourable mentions go to John J (+24), Mark S (+28), Nick W (+24), Pete H (+17), and Paul D (+16)

Why Can’t I Get Next To You:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 26 places are sobbing Gooners together El Presidente & Will Oppong – dishonourable mentions go to Mike L (-22), Debbie L (-18), Jamie S (-19), Glynn F (-17), Andy F (-20), and Gary McC (-16)
