PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 7 round up

You got the flo’, Joe…Keep Spread The Faith!

Confetti:

I’ll keep it brief, we’ve got a BIG International Week looming…

Seven happy souls managed 30 points or more this week and my, they were a tight bunch.

Emerging from the peleton was tough – Matt W put in a big shout heading the way in the final sprint, courtesy of a 2 x 9 pointers!

And he looked set to win but missing the first game proved to be costly…

That paved the way for newcomer Gary McCarthy 36 (5) to swoop in thanks to a double last-minute gift!

That West Ham 91st minute winner + Lookman’s horrorshow secured his first weekly £20 prize!

Or maybe it was that Pompey draw that nosed him in front of Danny A on the line?

Play up!

If I Could Talk I’d Tell You:

Did you suffer like the 15 that scored fifteen points or less?

No one dipped so low as single digits though.

But, 11 got zero correct scores.

The worst?

Bijay Lama & Hira Yonzan 10 (0).

Bless! Like peas in a point averse pod….come back brighter boys!

Correct Score of the Week:

Wow…most popular score was Huddersfield’s 1-1 draw with Luton– 25 of us got that!

Nine got Ipswich’s “Desmond” with Pompey

7 thrilled at the thrilling Harrogate 4 Skelmersdale Utd 1

Six had Blackburn’s 3-1 win over QPR

6 more made us all green by happening upon Chelsea 4-1 Sheff Utd

Five got the dull-all at Hillsborough

4 just knew Birmingham would score against Bournemouth for a 1-3

Four more doffed a cap to Celtic’s 1-4 deconstruction of Motherwell

Simon Linds & my mum believed in Darlo. A 1-2 kinda belief…

Chris B & Glynn F celebrated the bore draw between Brentford & Boro

Dave N & Martin S turned up Brighton 0 Burnley 0. Then sobbed a little bit as they thought of those poor souls who could’ve been there.

Howard T & Mike L nabbed the form book upsetting Everton 1 Man Utd 3

Richard H & Eddie O banked the nine point  3-2 betwixt Watford & Coventry

Greg F was grateful for the 0-1 Plymouth win at Charlton

Harry H had the very annoying last minute spoiling West Ham 1 Fulham 0

Matt W said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for his Scunthorpe 2-3 Solihull Moors

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Simon Buxton for his I-bet-Pab-had-one-four-so-i’ll-go-one-bigger inspired, FC United of Manchester 1 Doncaster Rovers 5!

Bet of the Week:

Ben Hogwood was (eventually!) on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 6 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We won!

Dunfermline (away at Ayr) – didn’t get in…
Hearts (home to Inverness) – get in!
Raith Rovers (home to Greenock Morton) – get in!

So, £2.15 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd taking it to £3.40!       : )

Neil Meredith is at 45th this week…

Mr M, I need your 3 team treble by Friday lunchtime please!

Table News:

Rockin’ Stroll:

Danny Ashworth remains top, now 12 points clear of Alex T who in turn is now fourteen points ahead of Pete B in third…is this the breakaway for the title?

One(!) crashed the Top Ten.

It’s A Shame About Ray:

Ben McKeown remains bottom, now four correct scores behind Stuart F who in turn is 3 points off Rob C

Into Your Arms:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 39 places is Gary McCarthy – honourable mentions go to Richard H (+24), Eddie O (+22), Simon B (+30), Matt W (+26) and John J (+16)

Rudderless:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 31 places is Bijay Lama – dishonourable mentions go to Hira Y (-20), Anders H (-16), Sam C (-15), Steve M (-19) and Patricia F (-20)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 6 round up – amended version!

Apologies PASers, we had some spoilt papers due to Hearts breaking the automated FT score mechanism- we’re truly sorry for any mental scarring incurred in these already testing times.

Everything on the original update is true, except…

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Gareth Morgan was the weekly winner with 34 (6) – he’s Spurs, not West Ham. Well done G, please don’t do a tabloid expose on us…

9 bods scored 15 points or less

Mark Seels was still bottom but with 11 (0)..and he was joined by his mucker Richard Hirst on the same score

Ben Hogwood is at 33rd this week…Benny, I need your 3 team treble by Friday lunchtime please!

Danny Ashworth goes top, 4 points clear of Alex T who in turn is five points ahead of Dom W in third…

Rob Currin drops two places to last, one point behind Ben MCK who in turn is 1 point off Justin C

Honourable mentions go to Patricia F (+21), Bijay L (+20), Andy S (+19), Nick W (+17), Gareth M (+18) and Karina H (+18)

Dishonourable mentions go to Simon Lindq (-16), Norman L (-13), John J (-13), Gary McC (-14) and Mark S  (-14)

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

“Irons…”

Talk Talk:

Considering how volatile the current footballing climate is, it’s a wonder why we bother with all this, eh?

If you get a correct score these days, cherish it, as it could so easily have slipped from your grasp…

Sermon over.

We had 5% of the field notching up 30 points or more this week, and that, mis amigos, included my mum…again!

However, 7 punters all lay strong claims to the weekly £20.

What they didn’t bargain for though was a dilemma of showing both faith and realism in your team to help you steal the show.

It’s taken him a while to acclimatise from rugger on a Saturday morning in Peckham to the elite sophistication that is Predict-A-Score, but Chris Birch 32 (6) can thank his beloved ‘Ammers for having the temerity to score at Anfield and then succumbing to the inevitable late winner for his own win.

Spare a thought for Angelo H who had it all in the proverbial bag until Leicester converted that last minute penalty at Leeds…

Well done Birchy, you’re now golden and not silver! (Sorry! I could’ve said “he’s not the whipping boy anymore” but we don’t advocate corporal punishment…)

It’s My Life:

What was I saying about those hard to get correct scores?

10 bods scored 15 points or less.

Amazingly, only four people failed to register a correct score this week and no one recorded a single digit tally (is this a first Stats Dept?)

And who finished bottom?

Mark Seels 10 (0), it was you.

Correct Score of the Week:

It really is end of days…most popular score was Newport’s 2-1 win over Harrogate Town – 25 of youse got that!

Nine just knew Burnley wouldn’t score against Chelsea for a 0-3

Sam A, Bry D & Karina H were well away with the 0-3 away win for Brentford

Karina H (again!) got the 1-3 Canaries win over Bristol City

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Stuart Fitzsimon for his I-kept-the-faith-even-after-all-these-years inspired, Man Utd 0 Arsenal 1!

Bet of the Week:

Jack Buxton was on “Bet of the Week” position 11th in Week 5 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Yet another fail…

Reading to win at Coventry – X
Peterborough to beat Shrewsbury –  Big tick
Cambridge Utd to win at Crawley – X

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th –  hmmpphh!

Mike Lyons is at 33rd this week…

Michael, I need your 3 team treble by Friday lunchtime please!

Table News:

Eden:

Danny Ashworth goes top, 9 points clear of Alex T who in turn is one point ahead of Dom W in third…

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 5 round up

“Yeah, you can smirk about my hat sonny Jim – bet you £20 I’ll know more about football than you in 35 years …”

Bring On The Dancing Horses:

Just when you thought this year couldn’t get any weirder, it had to happen didn’t it…

Leeds back in the big time, Liverpool & Man City now ordinary, Southampton potential title contenders, a professional footballer from Wythenshawe more in-tune than most politicians AND…

In a week where we only had 29 games (again), only two people managed more than 30 points – and both were in with a shout for the £20 prize right to the end. Or were they?

Andy S went close but unfortunately for him, perennial wooden spoon botherer Patricia Fernandez 36 (7) had an amazing run of a unique and 3 last minute goal correct scores to win her first-ever week!

Well done Mother, you’ve put me to shame…but now there’s hope!   : )

The Cutter:

If you weren’t stuck in the middle this week, you were stuck in the mire.

32 punters ended up with less than fifteen points.

Seven did not record a single correct score…

Wow!

Only two finished out of a double-digit return though

Ben McKeown 7 (0) crossed the line where no one wants to cross…

I feel you B!

Correct Score of the Week:

I give up…most popular score was Middelsbro’s 1-1 draw at Cardiff – 28 of youse got that!

Eighteen got 3 goal demolition of Rotherham in Reading

11 got the dull-all at Loftus Road

Five celebrated the bore draw between St Johnstone & Dundee Utd

Patricia F somehow stumbled on West Ham 1 Man City 1 (how????)

Mike L thrilled at the thrilling Coventry 0 Blackburn 4

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Tim Payne for his I-knew-one-of-these-would-come-in-one-day inspired, Stoke 3  Brentford 2!

Bet of the Week:

Alex Rossi was on “Bet of the Week” position 65th in Week 4 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Nowt. But nearly…

Watford to beat Bournemouth – fail (96th minute fail!)

Reading to beat Rotherham – success!

Millwall to beat Barnsley – fail

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th – hmmmmm!

Jack Buxton is at 11th this week…

J, I need your 3 team treble by Friday lunchtime please!

Table News:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 42 places is My Mum – honourable mentions go to Andy S (+38), Peter M (+25), Mike K (+24) and Anders H (+20)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 4 round up

“Pep King 1 to Arteta pawn 0… <yawn>”

King Without A Crown:

Did you see how well Theo Walcott played on Saturday?!

Only taken him 16 years to re-kickstart his potential then…

And, gallingly, it seemed to inspire those around him.

Vestergaard for one.

His 92nd minute “strike” ultimately compounded my miserable Saturday of sport.

That goal scuppered a tidy 8 team acca to start it and Arsenal succumbed into submission in Manchester to end it.

Woe is me then and woeful was the points haul this week!

In a week where only 2 (TWO) players got 30 points or more, Tony Morris 32 (5) nudged past Danny A thanks to that 90th minute equaliser for that lot at Selhurst Park!

Congrats Tony, and you had that disallowed goal to grin about too – lucky boy!

Tears Are Not Enough:

With correct scores at a premium, half (yes, 50%!) the field failed to reach the fifteen point mark this week.

So, a collective shocker then.

Nine didn’t register a much-coveted four pointer and 20 players didn’t even reach double figures!

Gary McC and Andy C can both thank the hapless Greg Fleming 4 (0) for sparing their blushes…

Correct Score of the Week:

About blooming time…most popular score was Everton’s scandalous 2-2 draw with their neighbours– 26 of youse got that!

Seven got the dull-all at The Hawthorns. Yep, even me…

5 celebrated the bore draw between Boro & Reading

Norman L, Nick W & Karina H were well away with the 1-3 away win for Kilmarnock

Martin S, Kate S & Mike L turned up Dundee Utd 0 Aberdeen 0.

Patricia F got the ol’ 1-2 Huddersfield win over Swansea

Tim P made us all green by happening upon Luton 0-2 Stoke

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Alex Rossi for his there-has-to-be-at-least-one-Desmond-this-week-and-it-won’t-be-the-mighty-Reds inspired, Barnsley 2 Bristol City 2!

Bet of the Week:

Chris Dixon was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 3 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We didn’t hear from our friend in the north    : (

So, £3 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th – not bad actually!

Alex Rossi is at 65th this week….

Al, I need your 3 team treble by Friday lunchtime please!

Table News:

Be Near Me:

Alex Taylor remains top of the shop, now 8 points clear of Dom W who in turn is two points ahead of Danny A in third…

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Poison Arrow:

Rob Currin drops three places to the bottom of the pile, two correct scores behind Mr 2-0 and his followers…

One Better World:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 43 places is Tony Morris – honourable mentions go to Lily T (+26), Mike L (+26), James C (+23), Jason M (+20) and Andy S (+20)

S.O.S.:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 33 places is Greg Fleming – dishonourable mentions go to Gary McC (-29), Matt W (-23), Angelo H (-22) and Gareth M (-22)

“If only Stuart Pearce was by Gareth Southgate’s side…”

Do You Remember The First Time?:

It was a lively Week 3 especially on the What’s App group!

There was plenty of wailing & gnashing of teeth about the lottery that International Week brings to our scoresheet door.

One of us had the temerity to post the following –

“Seeing as United and Liverpool think they can change football to suit themselves, can we have a similar pas revolution? I accept I’m one of the middle ranking players lucky to have a vote but if they can threaten to get rid of the league cup then surely we can get rid of international week?”

As you can imagine, that ruffled my feathers and made my heckles bristle  – but hey, we’re all groovy at PAS so we welcome thoughts and suggestions with open arms…

Anyway,

A tightly contested field was bunched together as 12 punters reached & breached the 30 point mark.

A good few of those 14 could have won it (well, if 4 counts as a “good few”)

Then came the goalless-fests…

Two of those 5 pointers catapulted Martin Stafford 43 (8) right to the top, cemented by a Van Beek equaliser and a maiden international goal for the darling of “Sunderland Til I Die”, Johnny Willimas.

All that made sure he kept a grip on the weekly £20 prize, edging out a gallant Dom W.

So, Mr Stafford, seeing as International Week shouldn’t even grace our glorious game, should the “tainted” winnings also be binned off?  <thinking emoji>

This Is Hardcore:

Oooof!

Over a third of the runners and riders failed to notch up more than 15 points this week.

Four of those suffered the ignominy of collecting zero correct scores…

Who felt the pain particularly pressing?

Andy Smith 10 (0), the blushes are all yours mate…

Correct Score of the Week:

Like London busses this week…most popular score was Croatia’s 2-1 win over Sweden– 31 of youse got that!

Seven turned up Rep of Ireland 0 Wales 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there (hmmm, actually, no one was there…)

6 doffed a cap to A Selecao’s 3-0 deconstruction Sweden

Five celebrated the bore draw between Liechtenstein & San Marino

Mark J B & Will O were all over the Nordic derby (?) 0-3 to Norway

Dom W got the dull-all in Poland

Martin S secretly said prayers the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Stade Francais

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Mike Lyons for his I-didn’t-get-distracted-by-international-games inspired, Swindon 0 AFC Wimbledon 1!

Bet of the Week:

Mark J Brown was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 2 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We won!

Ireland to beat Wales – nope!

Spain to beat Switzerland – yep!

Germany to beat Ukraine – yep!

So, £1.25 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd – welllllll, it’s a start innit.

Chris Dixon is at 45th this week….

Mr D , I need your 3 team treble by, erm, now, please!

Table News:

Party Hard:

Alex Taylor goes up 2 places to go 4 points clear of Dom W who in turn is three points ahead of Lee F in third…

Six crashed the Top Ten.

Something Changed:

My Mum drops six places to a very familiar place, two points behind Ben McK who in turn is one point off Andy S

Sunrise:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 60 places is Martin Stafford – honourable mentions go to Mark J B  (+29), Danny A (+36), Paul S (+27), Glyn F (+29), Pete B (+34), Nick H (+34), Chris D (+56), Anders H (+49) and Hira Y (+29)

Mis-Shapes:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 39 places is Alex Rossi – dishonourable mentions go to Tim P (-27), Stevie M (-30), David G (-37), Paul D (-29), John J (-26), Angelo H (-30) and Rich L (-28)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 2 round up

“To be fair, I never saw him save one penalty at half time vs those kids…”

Let It Happen:

An awful week all round then…well, if you thought the art of defending still existed, that “form” was still a thing or stupid scorelines were just for Boxing Day in the 80s…

I could really get into it here but i’ll just say nothing… – the part(e)y is only just starting  ; )

Twenty four of you got 30 points or more in a week that saw the 40 point barrier broken only by one – and how, I do not know!

Alex T showed a real turn of predicting panache to stake a claim.

Will O probably startled even himself with his best catch for a long long time.

But heading up the trio who got nearest to this week’s accolade was our long time PASer pal, Simon Lindsay 43 (7).

Mr Linds (not Lindq!) ironically has Arsenal’s lack of cleansheetness to thank for edging out the other two and securing the twenty nicker.

I think that’s the definition of a very good Spursy weekend all round eh Simon??!

Patience:

Fifteen players scored less than 20 points this week.

4 poor souls got zero correct scores.

A terrible week all round then…

Lightened only by the fact that My Mum 10(0) reset to her normal default and finished bottom of the pile to spare a few blushes…

Correct Score of the Week:

“________” …most popular score was Stoke’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham– 29 of us got that!

Nine just knew Coventry would score against Bournemouth for a 1-3

Simon Linds, Andy F & Mike L somehow stumbled on Everton 4 Brighton 2 (how????)

Will O & Eddie O had Toon’s 3-1 win over Burnley

Predictz nabbed the form book upsetting Norwich City 0 Derby County 1

Gary McC quite rightly celebrated the bore draw between Blackburn & Cardiff

We learned of some sad news that PASer Arthur Harrison passed away recently. His son, Scott, is playing out the season for Arthur so it’s very fitting that this week’s best correct score goes to Arthur for Chelsea 4 Crystal Palace 0.

Condolences from all at & connected to PAS to you and all your family Scott…

Bet of the Week:

Jason Morris was on “Bet of the Week” position 11th in Week 1 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

It didn’t go well…

Norwich to beat Derby – tock!

Everton to beat Brighton – tick!

Leicester to beat West Ham – tock!

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th – it’s a marathon, not a sprint…

Mark J Brown is at 33rd this week….

Mr Table Topping Toffee , I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please!

Table News:

Elephant:

Lee Ford will be overjoyed as he moves up 3 places to go 2 points ahead of Jack B who in turn is one point ahead of Alex T in third…

Seven crashed the Top Ten.

The Less I Know The Better:

Chris Dixon drops seven places to the bottom, one point behind Rob C who in turn is two points off Ben McK

It Might Be Time:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 78 places is Simon Lindsay – honourable mentions go to Alex T (+30), Andy K (+35), Steve M (+37), Andy F (+45), Paul D (+31), Will O (+67), Arthur H (+54), Rowan M (+53) and Glyn F (+43)

Feels Like We Only Go Backwards:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 66 places is Patricia Fernandez – dishonourable mentions go to Darren McC (-30), Neil O (-33), Sam A (-42), Andy S (-31), Lily T (-36), Karina H (-48), Jason M (-38) and Danny A (-36)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 Week 1 round up

“Something to rub into this wound of a year…”

Free:

Oh man! It was all a dream, right? Right??! The chaos of a new world order had us in tailspin here at PAS HQ – and then some.

But we’re back!

I trust you’re all safe, well & COVID free – let’s keep it that way, please.

Meanwhile, Dan has had a birthday AND got engaged and is currently threatening to crash the Tour de France next year (@JulianF – PAS cycle tops perchance?!) and Dave has sluiced himself in every real ale known to man in 6 short (long) months…oh, and started running again after a particularly nasty knee knack.

Moi? I’m congratulating myself on my enforced absence from The Emirates & Granit effing Xhaka coinciding with me not actually being able to go anyway!

Here’s to Barca snaffling up our midfield general next summer…

So apologies for the lateness of this update – i’m still in shock at how good “Cobra Kai” was.

And, I’ve actually been in a  pub…and i’ve kinda forgotten how to do all this?

Would you Adam & believe it?!

Anyway, back to the now – as per usual, quite a lot of you clearly knew what I didn’t this week.

Best of the bunch?

Our own unstoppable machine, Paul Carter 38 (6) indie danced in front of the unlucky Reagon K courtesy of that correct score on Monday night, and left Pete H, Lee F & “Top Girl” Debbie L in his wake!

Those long days & nights of lockdown did you no harm at all, eh P?!

If you got 30 points or more this week, you were one of 9 – I’m in awe, you jammy…

So, congrats to Mr C, £20 winging it’s way back to you ASAP – always the best week to win innit!

Wildfires:

Did you score more than Mr 2-0 this week?

Some of us only just managed it & 20 managed the same points or less than that this week.

Shocking.

Not as shocking as Chels though eh?! <smiley face>

Four players didn’t manage a correct score and 8 couldn’t muster up a measly 14 points!

One Gooner probably wishing he was still in Costa del Maguire is Rob Currin 7 (0).

A woeful start sees him at the bottom of the pile in the opening week – let me guess, this nu-football is all greek to you, right Roberto?

Correct Score of the Week:

I will never ever take a 0-0 for granted ever again…most popular score was Liverpool’s hard-press 3-1 win over us– 25(!) of youse got that!

Seventeen doffed a cap to Celtic’s 3-0 deconstruction of the beautifully kitted Hibs

7 revelled in the schadenfreude (yes, you Maupay!) of Bruno’s later than late late show at Brighton

Four celebrated the bore draw between Barnsley & Coventry. And I for one, bow to youse…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Paul Carter for his I-know-all-about-proper-northern-outpost-matches inspired, Ross County 0 Aberdeen 3!

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed quite spectacularly in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

So!

This year, we’re being brave and we’re gonna stick with it to see, with hope, how we go! Again…

How?

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK…

The person on 11th will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 33rd in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 65th in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 11th…yeah?!

Good.

So, Jason M, Paul H, Gary McC, Dom W & John J are all in joint 11th, but Jason Morris was 1st out the hat.

Jay, I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! No pressure son…

Table News:

It’s Week 1 – it is what it is! Click here for the full table.

Please be aware we may lose some players but we may gain some – so if you know anyone out there who wants to get involved, put them in touch! It’s never too late…and we’re soooooo close to that magical 100 player benchmark, so go get ’em people!

PAS update – please read!

Hola!

Hope you’re all well, fit & healthy – it’s been emotional, eh?

And don’t talk to me about hair…

Anyway,

We’ve thought long and hard at PAS Towers about how we finish the season and now we’ve decided…

I can officially reveal that PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’20 is null & void.

The table will stay on the site for posterity and the league leader of “The Season That Never Was” will be awarded a “ghost trophy” to mark the occasion. Congrats, Hira! You’ve won the “ghost” prize money too!

Ditto for the person propping up the league (that was close Frankie!) – you’ll get a “ghost spoon”. (Un)Lucky you.

So, where does that leave us?

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20

We’ll start PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 as usual, once all the leagues confirm when next season will officially start.

I propose we carry all the entry money (and prize money!) over, meaning you’ll only have to pay around half the usual entry fee for next season…

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’20 entry fee money

If anyone would like their money back now, we can pro-rata the amount you get refunded.

Then, if you join again for next season, it’ll be the usual twenty quid…

PAS Cup 2020

At the start PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 we will conclude PAS Cup 2020 from the quarter finals stage

PAS Champions League 2019-20

At the start PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’20 we will conclude PAS Champions League 2020 from the quarter finals stage

It wasn’t an easy decision to make, but in the end probably the fairest, as it will be like starting from scratch from a “virtual” pre-season.

No form to go off, no crowds, no real “home” advantage, no idea on fitness, no way of knowing if “safe teams” will bother to compete and no guarantee once it starts, it will actually finish…

Apologies if this isn’t the outcome you wanted – let’s hope we can get back to normal pretty soon.

Or at least, have a new normal.

Or a “not quite normal, but one where things can still happen on a regular basis…”

Stay safe, be sensible and tell the racists to f*ck off.

Cheers,

Pab

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’20 Week 5 round up

“Scousers beware…”

Calling Occupants of Interplanetary Craft:

We’re living in strange times right now – strange things like…

Will football end just as Liverpool have re-invented it with a blast from the 80s?

Will we ever be allowed out of our houses ever again?

Will we eventually get sick of eating plain pasta?

And will my quest to win the competition I founded be scuppered just as things look as rosy as they’ve ever been?

Yep, proper strange times…

6 mere mortals passed the 30 point barrier this week and that included Debbie L, a newbie and Fernandez x 2 – so yeah, proper strange week alright!

John K gave it his best shot but was blasted out the water by the strange site, Predictz 40 (8).

Our benchmarking friends, who predict for a living remember, often rival Mr 2-0 for ineptitude.

Strange how they can run a business based on predictions that rarely come to fruition  – but they do, so hey…

Anyway, this week’s £20 winner isn’t a real person in our eyes (we did invite them to play “properly” but they have never got back to us) and usually one “lucky” homeless person in MCR benefits instead.

However, sometimes you have to look after your own – so we’re taking the unprecedented step of rolling the weekly prize over to Week 6.

Yep, an emergency board meeting at PAS Towers resulted in the unanimous decision that one PASer deserves twenty quid and enough toilet roll to help them through these troubled times.

Oh, and we may throw some pasta in too if our dark web connect comes through…

Don’t say we don’t look out for you!

Rainy Days and Mondays:

Nowt stranger than folk!

53 punters failed to cross the 20 points tracks this week – brutal!

Thirteen poor souls couldn’t muster a correct score between them either.

But at least Sam Arora & Norman Lee 9 (0) had each other for company as they contemplated not reaching double digits and being the worst of the worst…

Correct Score of the Week:

If you got a good one, you got a good one…most popular score was Fulham’s 1-1 draw at Bristol City– 26 of us got that!

Five got the very annoying last minute spoiling Celtic 5 St Mirren 0

Predictz, Stuart F & Dom W got the dull-all at the DW

Matt W & Paul S had Aberdeen’s 3-1 win over Hibs

Brett D nabbed the form book upsetting Swindon 0 Forest Green 2

Mike K got Derby 3 Blackburn 0

Debbie L secretly said prayers the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Molineux

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Patricia Fernandez for her I-knew-this-random-method-would-pay-dividends-eventually inspired, PNE 1 QPR 3!

Bet of the Week:

My Mum was on “Bet of the Week” position 65th in Week 4 so we asked her to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

She was too busy organising her 81st birthday bash so granddaughter Frankie stepped up…

And won!

Sheff Utd v Norwich (home win) – just…
Wigan v Luton (draw) – what a shout!
Swindon v Forest Green (home win) – proper vegan shocker!

So, £4.59 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th – result!

Harry Hopper is at 11th this week….

Young Harold, I need your 3 team treble by Friday, please!

Now then, won’t let an 11 year old girl better you, will you..??!

Table News:

Top of the World:

Hira Yonzan stays top, now only 6 points ahead of Howard T who, in turn, is 1 point ahead of Paul C in third…

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Yesterday Once More:

Frankie Fernandez remains rooted to the bottom, now ten points behind Darrell S who, in turn, is 3 points away from Neil O…

(They Long to Be) Close to You:

Highest climber this week, up a whopping 42 places is Dan Wayman – honourable mentions go to Predictz (+34), John K (+40), Debbie L (+35), Greg F (+20) and Rowan M (+21)

We’ve Only Just Begun:

Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 34 places is Norman Lee – dishonourable mentions go to Alex R (-31), Charlie H (-21), Bry D (-20), Lily T (-20), Sam O (-22) and Sam A (-20)
