PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’17 Week 10 round up!

“Don’t tell Pab, but I know how to change your scores…”

Big Balloon”:  Have much luck on the National? Nah, me neither. The nice little nest egg of betting funds got obliterated in the Scouse sunshine.

Oh well, maybe luck doesn’t come into it eh? Maybe it’s the knowing…

I certainly knew I was on a good week as five correct scores racked up on Saturday and 32 others joined me in that 30 point-plus nirvana this week.

Three went on and hit the heady heights of forty points-plus with Ryan G nudging Simon Lindq out the way courtesy of 7 correct scores to six.

But what’s this?

Someone with a mere 5 correct scores has jumped to the top by virtue of 1 point?

Was it a 91st minute St Johnstone goal in a 0-3 win that did it?

Or was it the 97th minute Nick Powell worldy that secured a massive 9 points for a 3-2 Wigan win?

Or could it be the fact he was one of only a few who thought Rangers would win at “11 in a row, 16 wins in 17” Aberdeen?

Maybe it was something darker…

Dave Nicklin 43 (5) wins this week’s £20 and faces the playground-esque “tunnel of death” to prove he didn’t forsake our upstanding reputation for fairplay.

I’m confident he’ll survive and cement his innocence, but me and the minions will take great pleasure “venting” our PAS frustrations…

Fragrant”: If you’re a Gooner, the days are dark right now.

We have to watch 11 snowflakes dissolve every week whilst the antiquated Svengali still thinks his time will come again & prove the haters wrong.

Picture then being a Gooner who got beat by a Palace fan that couldn’t even post a single correct score or got trounced by a Mr 2-0 who has quite clearly given up!

Seventeen bods got 20 points or less this week but Stuart Fitzsimon 14 (1) was the hapless soul propping us all up this week…

Correct Score of the Week:

Smashing week…most popular score was Brighton’s 1-2 win at QPR on Friday– 30 of youse got that!

21 got the dull-all at the Riverside

Twenty obviously guessed Fulham would beat Ipswich 3-1 cos everyone knows Ipswich draw 1-1 EVERY week…

20 more just knew Bournemouth would score against Chelsea for a 1-3

Thirteen got Man City’s 3-1 win over Hull City

8 made us all green by happening upon Celtic 3-1 Kilmarnock

Seven got Tottenham’s 4-0 deconstruction of the Hornets

6 were all over the 0-3 to Man Yoo

Dave N, Andy C & Dan H tinkered with the PAS timelapse cog in the back end and nabbed Inverness C T 0 St Johnstone 3 (what’s Andy C ever done for you chaps??!)

Dan H (again!) & Ben McK (hold on a minute…) got the 3 goal demolition of Preston by Dirty Leeds

Dave N (again!) & Julian F (i’m getting done over here!) got the thrilling Wigan 3 Rotherham 2

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Neil Critchlow for his I’ve-lost-all-interest-this-late-in-the-season inspired, WBA 0 Southampton 1!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 90 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We won! Again! We’re getting good at this aren’t we!

58% Middlesbro vs Burnley- the most nailed on 0-0 ever. Always loved that thug Lowton…

47% Hamilton vs Ross County – the only disappointing thing it wasn’t 0-0…..

45% WBA vs Southampton – damn that Fraser Forster!

So, £7.80 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd – whoop whoop!

Table News:

Flexxin“: Jason Morris stays top and now goes 18 points ahead of Charlie H who in turn is sixteen points ahead of Richard Hi in third…

It’s a done deal…

Simon Lindq crashed the Top Ten.

Fester“: Neil Critchlow stays rooted to the bottom but now only three points behind Patricia F who in turn is now only 4 points off James C…

Decided Knowledge“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 21 places is Dave Nicklin – honourable mentions go to Pete B (+12), Ross B (+11), Pab (+13) and Paul S (+13)

Slave To The Atypical Rhythm“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 14 places is Danny Norbury – dishonourable mentions go to Stuart F (-11), Gary B (-11), Mr 2-0 (-12), Danny A (-10) and Nick H (-12)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’17 Week 9 round up!

“this cream don’t curdle…”

Money Love”:  A bit like blue crystal meth, you may drift in & out of fashion but you’ll always be what others are benchmarked against (yep, i’m watching Breaking Bad again…).

Well, the King has returned.

Seventeen people smashed in 30 points or more this week – 3 topped 40 or more.

Our £20 weekly winner may claim the St Johnstone in-fighting that contributed to Hamilton’s 89th winner or Barnsley’s Angus MacDonald equaliser in the 93rd minute were to thank for the prize.

Personally, my money is on the fact that he put ironic faith in Arsenal holding out at home to City for a “creditable” 2-2 draw…

Be upstanding.

All hail Jazz Sian 46 (8) as he syncs nicely with Sp*rs to hit form at the right time – grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Manchild”:  …and speaking of Sp*rs fans, Richard Hu dressed up in full Everton regalia to watch the Merseyside derby with his Scouse chums on Saturday lunchtime.

Y’know, top bantz n all that?

Well, it didn’t have the desired affect on the result, but it was obviously enough to off put & derail Koppite Alex Rossi 9 (0) as he crashed & burned like a David Moyes interview this week.

Y’know, top bantz n all that…

Correct Score of the Week:

Needles in haystacks this week…most popular score was Ipswich’s 1-1 draw with Birmingham (the gift that keeps giving gives again) – 31 of us got that!

Fourteen got the five point 2-2 at the Emir-, I mean, Ashburton Grove

4 got the bore draw between Swansea & Middlesbrough

Four more got the thrilling Liverpool 3 Everton 1

Predictz obviously guessed Burton would beat Huddersfield 0-1

Debbie L got the one-one in Glasgow. The wrong side of Glasgow…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Sam Arora for his it-was-always-gonna-be-an-even-game inspired, Man Utd 0 WBA 0!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 90 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We won! Again!

54% Wolves vs Cardiff – eh? where did that come from??!

54% Inverness vs Kilmarnock – the only disappointing thing it wasn’t 0-0…..

51% Ipswich vs Birmingham – absolute nailed on cert!

So, £8.29 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th – good-o!

Table News:

Buffalo Stance“: Jason Morris stays top and now goes 16 points ahead of Charlie H who in turn is eleven points ahead of Jack B in third…

Still looking like a done deal to me.

Jazz S & Francesca F crashed the Top Ten.

7 Seconds“: Neil Critchlow stays rooted to the bottom but now only ten points behind Patricia F who in turn is 9 points off James C…

Out Of The Black“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 32 places is Tony Davenport – honourable mentions go to Jazz S (+20), Simon Lindq (+15), Arthur H (+14), Steve M (+18), Predictz (+14) and Anders H (+15)

Across The Water“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 20 places is Will Oppong – dishonourable mentions go to Clare T (-16), Me (-16), Stuart F (-14), Ross B (-13), Chris D (-13), Richard Hu (-17), Julian F (-13) and Andy F (-13)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’17 Week 8 round up!

“So, Arsene has never finished below us eh?!”

A Night To Remember”:  I’ll cut to the chase people, its been a painful week! If you didn’t score 40 points or more, look away now, we should’ve taken the Mr 2-0 route.

How brutal is that??!

19 people hit the magical 40 plus points with ten of those surpassing the season high of 45 set by Jerry S – wow!

One went beyond…

So, thanks in main to the Lior Refaelov correct score busting goal for Israel, Simon Lindsay 51 (8) salvaged his season and nabbed the £20 for good measure.

Congrats mi amigo, let’s hope the Arsenal can take your lead in the weeks to come eh?!!

Dead Giveaway”:  If you had a bad week people, you had a really bad week!

Seven couldn’t even muster 25 points, one couldn’t even register twenty points…

Patricia Fernandez 18 (1) you need to have a word with yourself  – on Mother’s Day too!!! Tut, tut, tut.

Correct Score of the Week:

I really really hate International week…most popular score was Poland’s 1-2 win in Montenegro – 24 of youse got that!

21 got the very very annoying last minute spoiling Bosnia 5 Gibraltar 0 (grrrrrrr!)

Thirteen were all over the 0-3 to Macedonia

12 got the 1-3 Slovakia win over Malta

Nine nailed San Marino 0 Czech Republic 6

7 made us all verde by happening upon Portugal 3-0 Hungary

Six got the dull-all in Bucharest

5 got the 3-1 Bees win over Cheltenham

Five just knew Luxembourg would score against France for a 1-3

4 got Serbia’s 1-3 win over Georgia

Four got Sweden’s thrashing of Belarus

Julian F, Jason M & Richard H got the bore draw between Ireland & Wales

Richard H (again!), Simon Linds & Eddie O saw their typo come good on the game in Madrid

Pete B & Yours Truly got Cyprus 0 Estonia 0. We sobbed a little bit as we thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Jazz S & Matt W obviously guessed Germany would beat Azerbaijan 1-4

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Mark Seels for his let-the-haters-hate-i’m-back!-inspired, Andorra 0 Faroe Islands 0!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 90 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

53% Scunthorpe vs Bradford – ooooh close! Frankie had 3-3 down FYI…

49% Armenia vs Kazakhstan – a sending off and then disaster…

49% Romania vs Denmark – the only disappointing thing it wasn’t 0-0…..what? Oh…

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 65th – not good…

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’17 Week 7 round up!

“Yes,Gazza…. Yes! Gak AND a chicken..”

Our Velocity”:

J.R Hartley.

Ever read his famous book? Don’t bother, it’s rubbish.

Remember Yellow Pages?

A time when you could actually remember about 15 phone numbers (yeah millennials, we really used our brains back then!) anyway and then you could access about a million more and make “prank” calls at 3am on a Sunday morning on the way home the “club”! Great times…

Do you know the dialling code for the UK?

Did you know if you times the last number of the Darlo dialling code by the 2nd last number, minus the 3rd number and then add the 2nd number you get 8?

Well you do. I did the math…

Spookily, Ben McKeown 44(8) was fly fishing this weekend, and whilst he didn’t hook a trout whilst wading amongst the shopping trolleys in the River Skerne, he did catch the £20 weekly prize.

No small thanks to the fact Dundee notched against Champions-elect Celtic…Jason M & Olly O no doubt stood on the bank throwing rocks in his swim as their 42 point haul was left floundering on the rocks…

Well done Benny boy – you can fund those TWO slap up meals you owe me & Chris D in Mrs Gregg’s flagship store next season now!

What Did We Do To You To Deserve This?”:

My mum rang me on Monday distraught she’d “had a ‘mare” by only recording a score of 19 (2). Imagine then if you scored under 13 points!

Can you imagine not getting a correct score as well??

Can you imagine how Mark Seels 11 (0) feels limping in bottom of the pile this week?

Can you imagine the grief he’ll get from “The Syndicate”?

Can you imagine the smug face Richard “Tricky” Hirst is pulling right now??!

Correct Score of the Week:

Well, I had a decent week, did you?…most popular score was Partick’s 1-1 draw at Kilmarnock– 27 of us got that!

7 got Forest’s “Desmond” with Derby

Six got the two-two in Blackburn. The wrong side of Blackburn…

6 got the dull-all at The Stadium of Light

Five got Rangers’ 4-0 deconstruction of Hamilton

4 just knew Boro would score against Man Yoo for a 1-3

Ben McK, Olly O & Stephen P got the 3-1 Cardiff win over Ipswich

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Dan Hogwood for his I-love-a-bit-of-injury-time-Rom-me inspired, Everton 4 Hull 0!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 90 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

We won!!! Whaaaaaaaaaa-hoooooooo!

51% Kilmarnock vs Partick – 87th minute Conor Sammon goal seals the deal!

49% Leeds vs Brighton – Wood would wouldn’t he….spoiled a bumper payout there!

49% Inverness C T vs Ross County – 86th minute equaliser in the Highland derby seals the deal!

So, £7.67 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th – at last!

Table News:

Apply Some Pressure“: Jason Morris stays top but now goes 10 points ahead of Charlie H who in turn is now eleven points ahead of Peter M in third…

No one crashed the Top Ten.

Going Missing“: Neil Critchlow stays rooted to the bottom and now ten points behind James C who in turn is 1 correct score off Patricia F…

I Want You To Stay“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 27 places is Olly Osmond – honourable mentions go to Rowan M (+13), Ric P (+12), Paul H (+12), Chris D (+15), Ben McK (+22) and Paul S (+12)

Risk To Exist“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 24 places is Stuart Fitzsimon – dishonourable mentions go to Mark S (-18), Predictz (-16), Alex R (-13), David G (-20), Richard H (-15) and Dan P (-14)

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’17 Week 6 round up!

“Not heavy…”

Rich & Strange”:  It’s lovely when a long wait comes to an end –  New job? Tick! New baby? Tick! Team looking like they’ll finally be promoted? Tick(ish)! Get to see Batman Lego movie on the big screen? Tick! New lease of life on PAS after years in the doldrums flirting with the wooden spoon? Tick!

Actually the Batman one was a bit of a step backwards, but Julian Fernandez 45 (7) smashed in a bumper score to record the biggest weekly winning margin for years to secure the £20 prize – and that was without submitting a score for the Friday game!

Fourteen players slapped up 30 points plus tallies but JuJu still won the week by 10 whole points.

Basically Bournemouth’s 9 pointer sealed the deal…hmmmmm, wonder if he watched Football Focus like me and noted that the Cherries first Prem win was 4-3 v the Hammers and changed his 2-1 score accordingly?

Purple Love Balloon”: Blimey! Nineteen players lolloped home with less than 20 points this week which isn’t ideal now is it?

Two of them are on the PAS Board (hopefully that’ll put those time-lapse rumours to bed now!) and two of them were Lees.

Not Debbie though.

Rich tried his best to fail spectacularly, but feeling it more than everyone else this week was Norman Lee 12 (0).

Let’s hope he managed to avoid Lego Batman…

Correct Score of the Week:

Pretty hit and miss this week, tbf, a lot of hits though…most popular score was Man City’s 0-2 Cup win at Boro – 27 of youse got that!

12 got obviously guessed Arsenal would beat Lincoln 5-0 (I had it down as 10-2 fyi…)

Will O, Steve M & Predictz got the five point Barnet 2-2 Crawley

Kate S, Simon Linds & Chris D nailed Norwich 2 Blackburn 2

Paul V, James L & Richard H got the 3 goal demolition of WBA

Mark J B, Simon Lindq & Simon B got Brighton’s 3-0 deconstruction of Derby

Julian F, Andy F & moi believed in Eddie H. A 3-2 kinda belief…

Stuart F & Ross B got the dull-all at Elland Road

Danny A got PNE’s 3-0 win over Reading

David G was all over the four nil to Hearts over Hamilton

45% PNE – Reading – eh???!!

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’17 Week 5 round up!

Oooh look! Not Arsenal colours then…

Glory Box”:  It’s all about taking chances innit – ask Theo Walcott…ahem.

If you’re brave enough to give a bit of credit to a lost cause, then one day it may pay (ask Richard Hughes!).

25 players clocked up 30 plus points this week with five of them impressively hitting the 40 point mark and beyond.

Stephen P, back from a few years in a PAS-free wilderness, was looking good for a win as his beloved Toon smashed in a superb 1-3 win at Huddersfield and earned him 5 points to boot. Howay!

However, renowned Northern soul DJ and sample-meister extraordinaire Andy Smith 44 (6) saw his punt on lowly St Mirren scoring at Celtic in the Cup pay off to the tune of £2o as those nine points surged him to the top of the weekly pile.

It would’ve been poetic if you got to 45 though Andy!  (that’s a pun about vinyl millennials. And notice I said “vinyl” and not “vinyls”. Cos it’s “vinyl”. Ok?!)

Sour Times”:  At the other end of the scale, 17 people took their chances and got nish joy – scoring under 20 points.

The professional Predictz came horribly unstuck on unlucky 13, but proving that birthday’s aren’t always cakes, candles & cash, renowned Northerner Ben McKeown 12 (0) finished bottom of the pile this week.

Hard lines Benny boy – get out into that bracing Darlo air and clear your head son! Or have a pint…in one of those 30 odd pubs you told me about the other week. Actually have a pint in all of them. It’s your birthday…

Correct Score of the Week:

Some had a fabulous week…most popular score was Ipswich’s (the gift that keeps on giving) 1-1 draw with Brentford – 26 of us got that!

10 got the five point 3-1 at Craven Cottage

Ten more got got Leicester 3 Hull 1

And another 10 obviously guessed Spurs would beat Everton 3-2

Six nailed Hibs 3 Ayr 1

5 just knew St Mirren would score against Celtic for a 4-1 (how??)

Four got the correctly over-hyped 3-1 at Anfield – hmmpphhh!

Gary B, Stephen P & James L landed the thrilling Huddersfield 1 Newcastle 3

Gary B (again!) & Will O got off to a flyer on Friday thanks to Leeds’ one-three

Will O (again!) & Steve M saw their typo come good on the game at Swansea

Richard H wandered into Oxford 0 Bristol Rovers 2

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Jon Tofeili for his it-was-dull-but-i’ll-take-it inspired, Bristol City 0 Burton 0!

Bet of the Week:

So, the “system” spat out 3 draws that were the most popular among the 90 of you who entered predictions and guess what?!

This is getting silly now….

48% Blackburn V Wigan – surely this had 0-0 written all over it?

46% Accrington V Barnet – apparently the Stanley keeper had a blinder…

43% Huddersfield V Newcastle – Rafa marches on…

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 11th – shocking!

Table News:

All Mine“: Peter Morley moves up 1 place to go 3 points ahead of Jason M who in turn is three points ahead of Charlie H in third…

Only Charlie H crashed the Top Ten. And how!

Numb“: Ben McKeown slips six places to the bottom 2 points behind Neil C who in turn is 1 point off James C…

The Rip“: Highest climber this week, up a whopping 29 places is Will Oppong – honourable mentions go to Andy S (+19), Stephen P (+18), Rowan M (+19), Pete B (+27), George T (+19), Sam A (+19) and Mark S (+25)

Wandering Star“: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 28 places is Predictz – dishonourable mentions go to Anders H (-17), Howard T (-21), Matt W (-15), Ric P (-19), John K (-16), Danny N (-16), Arthur H (-18) and Brett A (-15)
