L13 Winter 2009 : Week 3 – Meltdown…

In a season already blighted by IT issues, the worst scenario has now happened – the PAS nerve centre has blown up and all appears to be lost (boo hoo!). Last night, I was all ready to abandon this season and just cry and beat the floor with my fists (after the PC natch), but as one stalwart said, “surely if you’ve saved all your sent emails you can piece it all back together?”

The good news is that I do indeed have all my sent emails saved so I can reclaim all the bits I need to put it back together (never trust memory sticks for too long mi amigos!) but it may take some time as this weekend I’m away (DJing tonight and back down in Ldn for the weekend tomorrow).

So… bear with me please, Week 3 result/table will be late (I’ll try and determine the winner so they can do the BotW) but if we press on with Week 4 I should be able to catch up pretty soon…

Apologies for our ineptitude, lessons have been learned (or is it learnt? don’t remember learning that..)

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 3 – Latest…

Week 3 scoring looks like this at the cut off point of half way (I think you can tell who got the France score right..) – all to play for then!

Player | Wk | Corr Res | Corr Scores | Corr Score Bonus | Goal Bonus | Tot Pts
Savan Arora | 3 | 9 | 3 | 1 | 5 | 24
Jazz Sian | 3 | 9 | 3 | 0 | 5 | 23
Neil Templeton| 3 | 8 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 19
Andy Chesworth| 3 | 7 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 18
Ben McKeown | 3 | 7 | 2 | 0 | 5 | 18
Mark Fawke | 3 | 11 | 2 | 0 | 0 | 17
Howard Thomas | 3 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 5 | 17
Stephen Street| 3 | 9 | 1 | 0 | 5 | 17

Martin S has gone the way of the Week 1 Bet of the Week and posted a resounding £0 on all selections – very disappointing… not even his “safe” away treble could earn him a £1 and spot prize slot 42nd, £2!

Week 3 round up on Thursday – Week 4 scoresheets will be round shortly…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 3 BotW

Draw Treble:
Ukraine, Denmark, Czech Republic (38/1 = £20/£19)
Away Win Treble:

It’s feast or famine week – good luck (my scores to follow…)

Result: LOSE

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 2 – Roundup…

“Wanna Kiss Myself…”:
very low scoring week thanks to more random scorelines over the weekend. Rich L was up there again as was Michelle F and her bruvver Danny A (have fun on your US tour!) but king of the week this week is Martin Stafford 29 (5). Well done Martin, £20 to go and treat your Wigan pal to that pudding & pea-wet nonsense…oh, and a can of Coke!
“…in other words, sucker”:
Last week’s worst scorer ended up having a baby (that’s how bad the pain is! Congrats to Clare T & Neil T – we expect lil Lily to be playing PAS next season!) so let’s hope the same fate doesn’t befall Ben McKeown (sort’ve might but it’d be really early) Dave Crisp (no chance, he’d have to sell his scooter) and Francesca Fernandez 9(0) (don’t even go there…)
Correct Score of the Week:
Bleak week – 4 got Bolton 2 Spurs 2 and 4 got West Ham 2 Fulham 2. Best score this weeks is shared by Rich Lee & Mark J Brown for their outrageous punt on Wolves 0 Portsmouth 1
Bet of the Week:
Seems like Rich L wants to keep all his correct results all to himself even though he could’ve earend out of it! All three bets fell woefully short so spot prize slot 23 has the grand total of £0 after one of its four goes. Martin S will be playing for spot prize slot 42 and, of course, himself this week…

Table News:

Bigger:
Rich Lee opens up an 8 point lead at the top from Greg E in second – Danny A & Jamie S share third spot
Rougher:
Howard Thomas slips to the bottom 4 points away from Dave C
Bolder:
Highest climber this week is (clue Cilla) Martin Stafford up a whopping 45 places to 14th. Honourable mentions for Anders H (+23), Michelle F (+26), Anthony Y (+22), Mark J B (+29) and Tony B (+33)
Tougher:
Falling furthest this week is Ben McKeown down 37 places to 54th – dishonourable mentions for Louise B (-19), Paul J (-22), Nick H (-32), Dave N (-18), matt D (-20), Vim G (-23), Francesca F (-27) and Dave C (-23)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Mark F is on the promos at 11th(-3), Jon T is at 13th (+2), Mark De S C is at 17th (+2), Neil M is on the BotW 23rd (+7), Stephen P is at 27th (+8), Andrew D is at 33rd (-10), Mark G is on the BotW 42nd (+15), Neil B is at 44th (+17), Nick H is at 52nd (-32), Jo L is at 57th (-5), Rich G is on the BotW 65th (-3), Vim G is at 67th (-23) and Dave C is at 70th (-23)
PAS Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is Stephen Street.
And Another Thing:
It’s August, Hmmmm, I know, buy West Ham and sell Arsenal – could I have got it any more wrong??!

Please be aware that Week 3 is International Week and it goes on to the Wednesday (how exciting!) AND if you miss submitting scores for the Saturday games you CANNOT then submit scores for the Wednesday games!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 2 BotW

Rich Lee our Week 1 winner is playing to win cash for “spot prize” slot 23 and himself – here are his selections…

7 Homes accumulator:
Arsenal, Everton, Barnsley, Newcastle, Oldham, Colchester, Sheff Utd (44/1 = £23/£22 split)
Draw Treble:
Burnley, Coventry, Millwall (38/1 = £20/£19)
Away Win Treble:
Bury, Bristol Rovers, Middlesbrough (18/1 = £10/£9)

Result: LOSE

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 1 – Roundup…

“Raise Your Hand If You Think You Understand…”:
It’s as if the world of football waited for PAS to start before totally random free-scoring matches became the norm – typical… However, Rich Lee 35 (4) is all for random free-scoring matches as one in particular (see below) propelled him to the first weekly prize of £20. Well done Ricardo, you may be collecting a little bit more too if you take to the new BotW format with the same aplomb…

“…Raise Your Standards If You Don’t!”:
She’s probably got back pain, weird cravings, having to go to wee every five minutes and knackered, but now soon-to-be-mum Clare Templeton 11(0) has the added burden of ignominy for finishing bottom of the pile this week.
Correct Score of the Week:
Fourteen got the stalemate at Falkirk, ten got Top Four finishing Man City’s 3-1 against WHam, six got Coventry’s great escape v Boro, five got the opening match “Desmond” between Scunny & Donny, Catriona J / Jon T / Gary B got Blackburn’s surprise win v Villa, Scott A / Mark F / Moi got the lovely 9 pointer that was Rochdale 4 Hereford 1 and Ben McK got Hibs 1-3 at Motherwell. But this week’s (and I reckon Correct Score of the Season already!) Best Correct Score goes to Week One winner Rich Lee for his very impressive guess of Liverpool 6 Hull City 1
Bet of the Week:
Rich Lee will be taking the challenge of winning himself and some lucky “spot prize” finishers some cash. As you can see from my attempt this week it can all go horribly wrong…
Table News:
1st table of the season coming soon…
PASCup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is Shaun Backhouse.
And Another Thing:
Please send your scoresheets back as a “.doc” as our complex matrix just won’t stoop to vile little “.wps” “.docx” or any other un-Word files – also, remember if you’re not around for future weeks play, you can request “upfront” scoresheets so you don’t have to rely on Mr 2-0 to do your scoring…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : Week 1 BotW

Hola,
Scoresheets by 11.59 tomorrow please – there will be no more reminders! Remember if you miss the early kick off you can send in scores for games that haven’t kicked off and if you miss the 3 o’clocks you can send in for the 5.15 game onwarsd etc etc

Bet of the Week in it’s new guise will kick off proper next week but to give you an example, I present the following

7 Homes – Liverpool / Spurs / WBA / Charlton / Huddersfield / Rochdale / Rotherham @ 14/1
So if this came in, £8 (initial £1 stake + half the winnings) would go the “spot prize place” and £7 to the person who selected the bet
3 Draws – Birmingham / Derby / MK Dons @ 34/1
So if this came in, £18 (initial £1 stake + half the winnings) would go the “spot prize place” and £17 to the person who selected the bet
3 Aways – Villa / Man Utd / Middlesbro @ 6/1
So if this came in, £4 (initial £1 stake + half the winnings) would go the “spot prize place” and £3 to the person who selected the bet

Result: LOSE

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2009 : The new format!

As you may well know, we always ask the Weekly Winner to share his or her football predicting knowledge to help us bash up the bookie in the following week.

This has had varying success. Well, actually it’s had little or no success (bar Dave Nicklin once netting a healthy 8 game accumulator!) and the participants kinda dawdled into it with no real conviction.

We plan to change that.

This season we will take £39 from the kitty and allocate £3 a week to the previous week’s winner to place 3 £1 bets (to be placed by a PAS drone that I can trust. Dave? Is that work experience scally alright to pop over to Fred’s?)

These bets will be a 7 homes accumulator, a draw treble and an away win treble.

Any profit made from these bets will be split accordingly:

  • Half of the profit will go to Weekly Winner who selected the bets
  • Half will go to one of 3 “spot prize” slots (this means each “spot prize” slot will have 4 chances to build up it’s value although if the bets crash out, they could end up as £0!)

Good eh?!

So, it means the weekly winners will now have to take their responsibilities a bit more seriously, after all, they could earn some serious wedge out of it if all the selections come in!

Cheers,
Pabby Power

Spring Cup 2009 : Final Result

Congrats to Lisa G – the first girl to lift the Cup in 20 years! £100 for you young lady – Jazz, £50 should soften the blow…

Cheers,
Pab.

PS – look out for an email in August about the official 20th anniversary season that will start late September 2009…

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 13 – Final Table News

Hero:
Classic nail biting finish to the season sees Jamie Tofeili bring some cheer to Geordieland by clinching the title by two points from Dave Crisp who just like his equine namesake, just ran out of steam in the last stretch. Well done Jamie, you’re now 7th in the all time top scores and make sure you shake your wad at your bruv! Unlucky Dave – take some consolation in that you had the most correct scores over the season (I think we’ll start to reward that next season) and were the first player to record a hat-trick of weekly wins AND the fact you finished a close 2nd after a recording a score of 4 points in one week is a feat in its self! Jason Morris kept the “syndicate” happy with a credible third (as did Mark Seels back in 6th). Neil Templeton has some “nappy” money in the bank at 4th and also carries off the “best correct score of the season” with his amazing St. Mirren 1 Celtic 0 (remember, just a week before was a 7-0 reverse!). El Presidente has 5th place to take his mind off just missing out on a Cup Final (me and Arsenal in negative symbiosis?!). Jon Tofeili makes it a family affair in the Top Ten by finishing 7th and newcomer Rob Hathorn capped a fine debut with an 8th place finish and two weekly wins. As Danny Ashworth (9th) is Frankie’s uncle, it’s only right he spends his winnings on her and Shaun Backhouse sneaked in the back door to prevent another debutant winning any money in 10th.
Zero:
Damn and blast! Mr.2-0 escaped the ultimate humiliation by virtue of 2 correct scores leaving Will Oppong this season’s wooden spooner. So close Will, so close! Anders Hoglund ended up the lowest finisher (42nd) of our overseas friends and Sweden now mourns while Singapore and Dubai celebrate wildly (obviously!)
Contender:
Highest climber this week is Mark J Brown up 9 places to 26th. Honourable mentions for Danny A (+4), Francesca F (+4), Ben H (+7), Mark S (+4) and Jamie S (+6)
Failed:
Falling furthest this week is Gareth Morgan down 14 places to 35th – dishonourable mentions for Louise B (-4), Greg E (-6), Lisa G (-4), Dave N (-8) and Dan P (-5).
Spot Prizers:
OK, it’s Week 13, you HAVE won these prizes! Tony Smith has to make do with all those, ahem, lovely promos in 11th (getting 32 points in the final week and still going down 2 places is a bit of a sickener!), Jon Allin and his notorious 0-0s shows that crime does actually pay in13th (+2), and Dave Nicklin has yet again encouraged the “it’s a fix! he’s on the Board!” mob with an unlikely finish at 33rd (-8)

PASers,

Thanks again for taking part – it’s been a pleasure!

We’ll be back in September for the official 20th anniversary “season” so make sure you spread the word over the long hot summer – if everyone can get at least one more person to play we’ll have a memorable 13 weeks – I’ll do my best to rally the old skool players who have fallen by the wayside – I WANT to break that 120 entries barrier!

There will be rule changes, new features and website news coming your way as and when, so keep a “bookmark” on the webpage as Dave N will be beavering away to bring it all up-to-date and nice and shiny and polished (there’s rumours of an “online” score entry feature – imagine that!)

We’ve just got the PAS Cup Final to be decided between Jazz Sian and Lisa Grey (will Lisa be the first girl to win the Cup? Will Jazz take his career earnings to double that of his nearest rival?) and you’ll be duly updated…

All “prize winners” will receive their money this week.

Adios amigos – have great summer, make sure you come back in September!

Cheers,
Pab
