L13 Winter 2006 : Week 5 Roundup

Good :
Nearly 100 points in two weeks, of course he’s top! Steve Tagger now has an eight point lead and the Northern Jazz title…
Bad :
Bless! He’s away in Oz oblivious to the fact he’s bottom of the pile. Welcome home Danny Ashworth you’re two points away from spoon safety…
Plain :
Highest climber this week was Villa-ette Donna E up 15 places to 23rd. Others of note were Steve T (+10) to 1st, Dave McS (+8) to 9th, Karl C (+14) to 22nd and Martin S (+9) to unlucky 33rd
Ugly :
Biggest faller this week was Citeh-boy Mark G down 13 places to 41st (see! Lisa was right!). Others to mock were Mark J B (-11) to 29th, Howard T (-11) to 36th, Ben A (-11) to 34th and the missus (-10) to 45th (keeping your brother company are we luv?)
Close & A Cigar! :
Mizz Pamela R (-4) drops out of the Top Ten for the first time this season.
Spotters :
Mr. 2-0 (-1) on 17th, Donna E (+15) on 23rd, Simon S (+2) on 39th and Anders H (+2) on 47th
Cup 2007 :
At the end of Week 13 you need to be where Tapiwa M is ( +2 ) to qualify for the Lucky 13 Spring 2007 & the Big PAS Cup!
Plucky little clubs :
A week in football is a long time – he won his first weekly prize, had a baby and now he’s won his second weekly. Congrats again to Steve Tagger 52 (6) who has posted a staggering 99 points in two weeks! Another £20 coming your way Stephen – put it in the baby fund mate…
Massive clubs :
He missed the first few weeks and he might be advised to miss a few more. Jon Allin 15 (0) you’re having a ’mare son!
Correct Score of the Week :
Steve T / Greg E / Moi got Sheff Wed 3 QPR 2, Steve T / Donna E got Southend 1 Ipswich 3, Lisa G / Matt W got Aberdeen 3 Dundee Utd 1, Matt G got Inverness C T 3 Falkirk 2 and Steve T got WBA 3 Wolves O. But, looking for his 2nd successive Correct Score of the Season, Scott Aslett is the man to beat with his St Mirren 2 Rangers 3.
Bet of the Week :
Steve T was late in getting his BotW across (something to do with X Factor and cricket – weirdo!) so I took up the challenge and took another £5 away from the tally – soz! We’re down £10 now, but hopefully Steve T will bail us out on the back of his golden run. We’ll see…
Some Fings :
All the money is finally in (Greg E, you still owe £2.50!). The new webpage won’t be ready til 2007 (Wembley? Eh? Oh…)
Thanx to Neil T for flying in specially to discuss plans for the 1st PAS awards party over a “few” pints on Saturday afternoon…
When you send your scores over, make sure you’ve saved them first yeah? A blank scoresheet only gets you the 2-0 score!
Arsenal are the best team in the world…..

Cheers,
Pab

PS- you may remember Mr 2-0 won a spot prize last season and as he’s a benchmark as opposed to a real person we can’t give him the money. On Friday we donated his £20 to a worthwhile local cancer charity so it’s gone to a good home and very much appreciated.

L13 Winter 2006 : Week 5 – BotW

Currently £5 down – get yer money on the following kids!

Preston / Celtic / Gretna / Morton / East Fife / Queens Park – £3 win accumulator (potential return £24.64)

Blackburn / Nottm For / Accrington – £1 draw treble (potential return £32.24)

Blackburn / Nottm For / Accrington / WBA – £1 draw accumulator (potential return £104.78)

Fingers crossed! And if we win, we’ll buy Ruby Grace a bib or summat…

Result: Lost! Now down a tenner!

L13 Winter 2006 : Week 4 Roundup

Tom Tom :
You’ve heard of Northern Soul, well, get ready for Northern Jazz! Neil Birchall is setting a breakneck pace at the top and threatening to do a Mr Sian. His lead is now 9 points from Richard L
Scott Scott :
The Swedes may be turning out top notch music at the minute but the predicting fraternity is all a bit Macclesfield. Anders Hoglund is propping up the rest 4 points from Danny B
Found My Thrill :
Obviously Steve Tagger is this weeks highest climber, up a big Yorkshire-man-pride-size 33 places to 11th. Hot also this week were Dan R (+26), Ciaran McG (+19), Olly O (+21) and Neil M (+19)
Road To Nowhere :
Obviously Dave Nicklin is this weeks biggest faller, down a big Geordie-title-hope-size 20 places to 29th. Cold also this week were Jamie S (-11), Greg E (-17) and Will O (-13)
Close & A Cigar! :
That man Steve T again – how apt.
Spotters :
Dave McS 17th (+7), Matt G 23rd (-9), Tapiwa M 39th (+2) and Danny A 47th (+1)
Cup 2007 :
At the end of Week 13 you need to be where Ben A is (-7) to qualify for the Lucky 13 Spring 2007 & the Big PAS Cup!
Super Cally :
A very high scoring week indeed – a trio of late 30 scores and a couple of level 42’s (Dan R & a rejuvenated Clare N!). But, this weeks winner may have a double celebration this week cos he’s won the £20 AND he should have a lickle baby very soon as well – congrats to Steve Tagger 47 (7). Scant consolation maybe for seeing your team lose 0-4 at home but will he spend the money on Pampers or some krunk juice? Pop yo’ collar!
Chelsea Keeper :
Yet another man to see a home defeat this weekend and it was made all the worse as he only scored 11 (0). Dave Nicklin “stand up/pogo/take of yer shoes if you love P-A-S!”
Correct Score of the Week :
Nothing unique this week so Ben A is still clutching that Lady…lots o’ peeps got Wigan – Man U, Arsenal, Dundee U – Celtic (amazingly!) and Plymouth – Derby.
Bet of the Week :
Week 3 winner Jamie S had a dismal week all round (see table later) as his Reading 1 Chelsea 1 punt fell by the wayside thanks to a goal line clearance in the last minute. £5 down again and next up is the T-Dogg (woof!)
Some Fings :
Why does Gary Teale wear contact lenses?? He hasn’t got any eyes! Just hollows that make Nick Skelington look like Marty Feldman…
Why was Ronaldo’s showboat goal for Portugal ruled out in the week?? That cost me seven points mate…
Why didn’t I check I had 1-2 and not 1-3 before cheering on that Norwegian poxy pixie paperboy on Saturday morning?
And why did I also change my Kilmarnock and Motherwell scores as well? I could’ve been a contender! I could have been somebody!

Sorry. I’m glad I listened to Mark J Brown’s wild generalisation that “Plymouth win ALL their home games 3-1”. Not only eight points in the bag but I lumped on @ 20/1 too! A right touch!

Cheers,
Pab

World Cup 2006 : Final Standings

Hola! Que pasa? Bueno bueno. El tablo finalio? Donde esta!

Fabio Cannavaro :
It went to the wire between the top two, but Simon Lindquist 5(1) has his correct Final prediction to thank for pipping Dave N to the post. A Swede of sorts, and not the only Scandinavian winner, Simon now has £100 to spend on watching Woking next season (I’d imagine in some comfort with al that money!). Well done! A worthy winner – skol! You will be able to see Simon with the “PAS Cup” when current champ, Mark F has sent it on. Seen Mark F on the “Gallery” yet? He’s up there after his triumph in PAS Lucky 13 Spring 2006 – check out the top!
ZiZou Chestbutt:
Involved in one of the most inept battles this side of Switzerland v Ukraine, Pam Dyson 1 (0) managed to secure the wooden spoon probably only because three members of the Fernandez clan were marginally less rubbish! Dan B deserves a mention here, as our Chelski friend finished second bottom despite his 6th place in Lucky 13 Spring 2006… Pam, the wooden spoon is on it’s way – we want a picture for the gallery!
Correct Score of the Tournament:
Seems so long ago now, but Scott Aslett (Sweden 0 Trinidad & Tobago 0) was never really going to be bettered and wins the prize! Final round mentions to Karl C, Stephen P, Ciaran McG, Will O, Richard L who all got Germany’s lucky win over Portugal… Bitter? moi??
Bet of the Week :
Dave N’s correct score double was nowhere near, so we ended up £1.85 to the good, or we would’ve if I had managed to post up Mark G’s selections on time….

Table News:

Big Movers:
Karl Chartres 8(1) and Stephen Peaston 12(1) both crashed into the Top 7 finishing 3rd and 5th respectively! Tim Clements 5(1) nudged up to 6th. Ciaran McG 8(1) left it too late for a prize, Will O 8(1) just missed out on spot prize and Richard L 12(1) will just have to take heart in the fact that he was one of two people to record maximum points on the final weekend.
Furthest Fallers:
Martin S and Jamie S were left to rue only scoring 1(0) and falling out of the prize positions. Special mentions to Pam R and Julian F who both scored 0(0) – genius!
Spot Prizers:
Super Swede Anders Hoglund (-1), the perennial Jazz Sian (-3) and the lovely, if jammy, Michelle Fernandez (non mover) all finished on spot prize postions 17th, 29th and 39th to win £10 each.

Cheers,
Pab.

PS – thanks for taking part, remember to come back with at least 2 friends in September for Lucky 13 Winter 2006 (I’ll be in touch), thankyou for all your messages when you send in your scores (sorry I can’t reply to them all, but i like getting them!), lookout for a new webpage that’ll kick off the new season and check out the current site for pics and stats (if you’re sad like me!) – cheers again to Dave N for making it all happen on the super highway…

PPS – Prize winners! I’ll be touch re: payment very soon- congrats again!

PPPS – Special mention of congratulations to Ciaran McGoldrick for the latest addition to his clan (Louis Elijah) and to Chris Tromans on getting hitched to the delightful Susi in Madrid the weekend just gone. Big, and indeed, up!

World Cup 2006 : Final call…

I’m in Madrid from tomorra morning so no more reminders – I’ll update everything when I get back on Tuesday…

My scores:
Germany 3 – 2 Portugal
Italy 0 – 2 France

As you can see by my current form the opposite will happen… and I’ll be happy!

Dave N as league leader is up for the Final bet – here goes…

£5 double on Germany 2-0/Italy 1-0

best odds you’ll get on that is around 47/1

Bon chance!
Pab.

World Cup 2006 : Only 2 games to go…

Final two games scoresheet will be posted up by Friday – deadline 19.59 on Saturday… if you can be bothered! Having said that, it’s a fight to the finish at the top and don’t forget those spot prizes kids!

Cheers,
Pab.

ps – Portugal are the England of Latin Europe….boo hoo!

World Cup 2006 : Latest after 60 games…

Italia! Italia! :
He’s still in front, but Dave Nicklin is now only 4 points clear…
Germans Singing That Scouse Song:
Dunno what she thinks about St Cristiano, but Pam Dyson is now 2 points behind in the wooden spoon slot (and you do get a wooden spoon!)
Correct Score of the Tournament:
Still out front is Scott Aslett (Sweden 0 Trinidad &Tobago 0). Nuff respeck must go to Shelley C and Martin S who got the Italy 3 Ukraine 0 result though…
Bet of the Week :
Northern Irelands bookies rejoiced as they claimed back £5 of Neil T’s money when his two acca’s bit the dust – we’re now £6.85 up. Dave N, you can call the Final…

Table News:

Big Movers:
Martin S and Matt W make their charge…
Furthest Fallers:
Richard L basically…
Spot Prizers:
Lisa G (-1), Khalid S (-3) and Michelle F(non mover)

Cheers,
Pab.

PS – is it safe to wear my Portugal top yet??!

L13 Winter 2006 : Week 6 – BotW

As Steve T is ALWAYS late for everything (baby or no baby) I’ve gone for professional help to get our betting profits up to scratch. So our mystery pro punter has gone for this little selection…

Double your money special!!!

£5 on Sunderland to beat the dreadful Hull City and combine this with an easy Chelsea formality.

£5 = £10

Sunderland are 6/4 to win at Hull

Chelsea are 1/3 to win at Sheffield Utd

Ok it’s not the most lucrative wager but it’s easy money.

Result: Win! Clean slate due to Mackem & Chelsea double.

World Cup 2006 : Latest after 56 games…

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Quarter Finals next – remember to send your scores to BOTH e-dresses please!
Deadline is Friday (30th) at 15.59.
I’ll be in Amsterdam(age) wondering whether to wear an England or Portugal top this weekend, so the next update won’t be until Tuesday.
Dave will post up the Semi Final scoresheet on Sunday.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Portuguese Men O’ War :
He invented the scoring system and now he’s top! Hmmmmmm. Dave Nicklin 15 (2) moves 7 points clear at the summit.
Switzerland v Ukraine:
She’s probably too concerned on the welfare of her beloved MU babies to take too much care over her scores! Pam Dyson 4(0) is now 1 point adrift at the bottom of the pile…
Correct Score of the Tournament:
Still out front is Scott Aslett (Sweden 0 Trinidad &Tobago 0). Big shouts to Tim C and Julian F (the showoff Final ticket holders) who both got Ivory Coast 3 Serbia 2. Simon L/Dave N/Karl C/Scott A/Stephen P all got Brazil’s cheating 3-0 win over plucky little Ghana – gwan!
Bet of the Week :
We were £5 in the red after Mark F’s treble fell over and in stepped Mark G to make amends. I owe you lot an apology – I forgot to post this up – “Treble on Blue Square of £10 will net you £33.70:Germany to win, Argentina to win, England to win.” Of course the bet is £5, so theoretically we’re £11.85 to the good….next up is heir apparant to the tipster crown, Neil T, who has reliably informed me he’s “caning the bookies of Norn Ireland..”

Table News:

Big Movers:
Karl C/Chris T (+8), Simon L (+7) and Scott A/Neil B (+6). I need to make you aware that Neil T and Olly O both recorded a fine haul of 24 points in the final group stage and were also “big movers” – respeck!
Furthest Fallers:
Me/Matt W (-6). I am officially having an Elms Street!
Spot Prizers:
Anders H (-7), Matt G (-4) and Michelle F(non mover)

Cheers,
Pab.

PS – I forgot to tell you we had a man in the field during the group stages, here’s what Matt W sent back… “Frankfurt was top drawer the highlight being bumping into Coleen and bouncing a Brazilian Cocktail waitress on my knee… a day out at West Ham spiralled into insignificance after that display…”

World Cup 2006 : Important News

As most of you know, we had a new genius “marking system” created by Dave N that literally saved millions of man hours messing about with paper and colour markers. However, with any new system, there are teething problems (with the users rather than the system!), so we put into place a “failsafe” to erase any incorrect “marking” that blighted last season.

Thankfully, this has paid dividends already as we had the wrong England v Trinidad result on the system and a few players were “robbed” of 3 points. The new table has been amended and will be up on the webpage very soon.

Apologies for any inconvenience caused, the offending serf has been tarred and feathered and sent through the dark streeets of Salford….

Cheers,
Pab.

ps – always worth checking your scores kids – thanks to Steve P for the spot!
