PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 final table round up
“Mbappe”:
So, who won?
Well…a PASer who has, let’s say, been very much a “mystery”.
Letting the “this-is-how-to-win-a-league-title” weekly performances do the talking “on the pitch” by opting to stay away from our What’s App group (erm, the rest of youse are all on that aren’t you?!) paid dividends despite missing out on giving the Arse “zero love”, as is the want of everyone on there…<shakes fist>
It was another pretty close, compacted & confusing season that included yet another interruption a la the “Covid years” plus, we had the early start to accommodate the first summer World Cup.
And, whilst the Gunners smoothly glide their way to the, ahem, title (please let it happen!!!) with their new found belief & consistency in the real world, our champion pretty much emulated Mikel’s “Process” in the PAS victory!
A few players kinda threatened to win it, but…
No one got really got that close in the end to a tally that now goes in, with a bullet, as the 24th “best winning score” ever!
To be perfectly frank, it was another of those almost perfect campaigns…
Our “Winter” champ started the season off at an easy 21st, stayed there for another week, before jumping to 6th – and then remained in the Top Ten for the duration. Blimey.
It was up to 4th in Week 5 (which was actually Week 6 – don’t ask…), then hitting top in Week 7!
More dips?
No.
Well, bar Week 10, when it was all the way down to 2nd…
Week 11 was all about putting the persistent Jason M et al to the sword!
With the impeccable timing of a seasoned PAS pro, when really it mattered, all challengers were brushed aside in a remarkable performance of concentrated consistency!
So, lords, ladies & gents, please be upstanding and doff your caps to Dan Wayman 345 (46) – He. Is. A. Winner!
I would say “no way” man, but it’s very much a case of “yes way”! (Sorry. The port is kicking in…)
Bravo Mr W, you’ve shown some sterling scoring this season!
Danny Boy won by a comprehensive 11 points from a resurgent Jazz Sian in second place.
“The King” finished one point ahead of perennial prize botherer, Jason Morris, in third spot.
Scott Harrison was a further point behind in the not-too-shabby 4th berth, with Simon Buxton 6 points shy in 5th – proudly flying the “I’m The Top Buxton” banner once again as son Jack was 10 points behind in sixth spot.
Just two points further back, Charlie Harris can reflect on a fine season, (not quite akin to the halycon days of a few years ago, but, y’know…), finishing in seventh whilst in eighth place (only 3 correct scores back) was the ever enthusiastic Ric Pardoe. And, just one point behind him in 9th, at the other end of the Mersey from Stockport, was the ever-effervescent Neil Meredith!
Old skooler Olly Osmond just edged out the much improved geordie Stephen Peaston in 10th – courtesy of a single point…dusted, bruv!
“Martinez”:
Only 17 points, but 66 places, separated our new champion from our wooden spoon champion, Frankie Fernandez 222 (23) in Week 1!
Daughters, eh?!
Awkward…
Starting in 87th, my girl never really recovered.
Like a role model to rubbish yo-yoing, it was 83rd, down to 91st, up to 77th (a season high!), then down to 86th for two weeks!
Week 7 it was down to 90th.
A brief rally to 85th & then to 82nd was followed by a slip back down to 85th in Week 10.
Week 11 saw her nestled in at second bottom…
A ray of hope in Week 12, up t0 92nd, but then the final fall…securing the wooden spoon to round off another miserable PAS year.
Pete C, Dan M, Emma T, Will O & newcomer Lisa W made gallant efforts over the season to save Francesca’s blushes, but…
