PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’24 Week 2 round up

“It’s Tottenham…”

Mansize Rooster:

After last week’s shenanigans it had to be a better week, eh?

Well, for me, only just!

However, I did manage to forget to do one score & Mr 2-0 beat me again…

Woe is me.

I’m sure there were plenty of others with similar stories, but I’m just feeling a bit sorry for myself, it’s been a long week.    : (

So, 10 punters scored thirty points or more this week – which is good for them as it transpired – but only one was in with a shout of nabbing the £20 prize cos the 40 point milestone was broken again.

It was girls on top, as debutant Laura H went head to head with Debbie L until she smashed in a Super Sunday haul including a Scottish 9 pointer. Then Spurs happened…

Matthew Stafford 45 (6) has Week 2 forever next to his name now as his Super Sunday tally was boosted by a 3-2 in Manchester & red faced Rooney doing the do…

Congrats Matt, don’t be wasting that dosh on some rugby league nonsense, pies or dancing to northern soul…actually, do spend it on the latter!

The Super Six

Portsmouth 1 1 Oxford Utd
Man City 3 2 Fulham
Plymouth 2 1 Blackburn
Charlton 1 0 Birmingham
Bristol City 1 1 Cardiff
Brighton 3 2 Spurs

Assists – M. Whittaker

Caught By The Fuzz:

We’ve got 100 real people playing this season (well done us!) but it would seem, with volume, comes complacency!

A fifth couldn’t manage more than 15 points this week as correct scores were even more elusive than usual.

Surprisingly, only three players registered “zero” in the column marked “CS” – eeeek!

However, (is this a trend this season?!) single-digit scores were absent yet again.

Paul Vinson 10 (0) you really are all alone this week…but Luke S kinda kept you company – bless.

Correct Score of the Week:

Oooof…. – most popular score was Pompey’s 1-1 draw at with Oxford – 21 of us got that!

Fifteen were so happy for the googly last kick lolz served up in Sunderland 2-2 Leeds, they will actually wear that ballet dress…

7 believed in the process. A 3-1 Mikel kinda belief…

Seven(!) more celebrated like Walsall at Highbury in ’83 after that 3-2 in Brighton

4 celebrated the bore draw between WBA & Millwall (I had 5-1 btw…)

Four more obviously guessed City would beat Fulham 3-2

Julian F, Martin S & Thomas S turned up Fleetwood 0 Bromley 0. Then sobbed a little bit as they thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Laura H, Frankie F & El Presidente decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards from Swansea v Stoke. And we did…5 whole points of a reward. So there.

Predictz fluked Chelsea 1 Forest 1

Laura H (again!) had her secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Goodison

Debbie L thrilled at the thrilling Aberdeen 3 Hearts 2

Tim P will shout out loud about the 4-1 humbling of Ipswich by West Ham

However, this week’s best correct score, goes to David Goggin for his don’t-call-it-a-come-back-but-do-cos-it-was-an-unreal-one inspired, Dundee 2 Kilmarnock 3!

Bet of the Week:

Ben H was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 1 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Uh-uhhhh!

“Mulling over the bet of the week – and I’ve gone for three home numbers in the lottery (aka the Championship!) Here goes: Fingers tightly crossed!”

Burnley – oops

Coventry – oh no

Sheff U – obvs…

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd –  hrrmmmphhh…

So, Mark S & newbie Gary R are in joint 60th, and the Perranporth Pep was first out the hat, so…

Rolfey, I need your 3 team treble by Friday please! Or Thursday. Or Saturday. Or Sunday…

Vamos!

Table News:

Matthew Stafford zooms to the top slot to go 1 point ahead of Andy F who, in turn, is three points ahead of new girl in town, Laura H in third.

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’24 Week 1 round up

“It’s Tottenham…”

King:

We’re back! With a bang!

No, not Arsenal – PAS!

Anyway…

I’ll cut to the chase (sort’ve) as it was all about 30 points + this week – and, 6 of the 99 signed up for this season did just that – go team!

Ric P & (gasp!) My Mum hit the sweet spot, Pete B went two better and Chris D went 1 more point beyond that –  impressive starts people…

Justin C slammed in a nine pointer plus 3 x five pointers but was denied the £20 weekly prize by a scouser who still believes…

Congrats to Andy Fowler 44 (7) who just knew his team would beat Palace this week, and just for good measure nonchalantly lobbed in a ten pointer correct score!

The best week to win as you can’t lose now A!

The Magnificent 7

Blackburn 2 0 QPR
Chelsea 4 2 Brighton
Everton 2 1 Crystal Palace
Middlesbrough 2 0 Stoke
Bromley 1 1 MK Dons
Motherwell 2 1 St Mirren
Swansea 1 1 Bristol City

Food For Thought:

Did you score 25 points+ this week?

Wow, we’re in awe…

Eight punters couldn’t manage more than 15 points this week  – and four couldn’t muster a correct score.

Shocking.

Damian W & Greg F were spared big blushes courtesy of another family tragedy – yep, Francesca Fernandez 12 (1) actually did her scores this week, and look what happened…

Correct Score of the Week:

Just…how??! – most popular score was Aberdeen’s 1-2 win at Dundee – 29 of youse got that!

Nine got Derby 3 Rotherham 0

9 more had Bournemouth’s 3-1 Monday night win over Southampton

Six grateful for the 3-1 ‘Wall win over PNE

Julian F & Matthew E (welcome!) got the dull-all at Fratton Park

Danny B & Predictz got Ipswich’s “Desmond” with Aston Villa

Danny A got the 0-1 Cottagers win over Forest

Laura H (welcome!) lapped up the Friday night 93rd minute joy of Plymouth 3 Luton 1

Justin C made us all green by happening upon Sheff Wed 3-2 WBA

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Andy Fowler for his I-knew-Miss-Jackson-wouldn’t-let-me-down inspired, Chelsea 4 Brighton 2!

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed quite spectacularly in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

But last season, we did alright. Welllllll, alright(ish)…

So!

We’re being brave and we’re gonna stick with it to see how we go!

How?

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK…

The person on 83rd will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 60th in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 33rd in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 83rd…yeah?!

Good.

So, there was a clutch of players there this week, but our fave Canary Ben Hogwood is first up.

Mr H, I need your 3 selections by Friday please! It can be homes, aways or draws. It doesn’t have to be football! It can be horses! Or dogs! Or fighting crickets! But not cricket…that’s a step too far!

Let’s get off to a winning start for a change.

No pressure mate..

It’s never too late…they’ll get a respectable Mr 2-0 21 (2) for Week 1 to boot!
