L13 Spring 2012 : Week 12 Roundup

Hola!
Last week then and all to play for still! Will Nick H hold on? Will Josh H storm to a stunning victory? Will I win my first league title in 21 years of trying??!

How apt we end the season with a classic Manc derby – scoresheets back by 12.29 on Saturday please!

“Full of wonder and surprise”:
In his own words he had his “worst week ever” last week but this week, not only has he topped the points tsunami that is Josh H (86 points in two weeks!!!), he’s also gone and won the second last £20 weekly prize! Olly Osmond 42 (8) is running round like a crazy horse…
“And just now I realize”:
A good few debutants get a reality check after the initial “beginners luck” phase – this week it’s the turn of Jack Buxton 7(0) and it’s all but ended his title challenge too – bah!
Correct Score of the Week:
Another spartan week… – most popular score was Bristol City 2 Barnsley 0 – 21 of you got that!
7 got the 0-0 at Villa Park (phew!), 6 got Newcastle Utd’s 3-0 v Stoke and 8 got Peterboro’s 2-2 against Watford. 5 got the 2-1 in Teesside.
Will O / Clare T got the 0-3 between The ‘Well and the Bhoys, Craig B got the 5 pointer at Hearts & Sam A got Liverpool 0 WBA 1.
However, this week’s best correct score goes to Jamie Tofeili for his inspired QPR 1 Sp*rs 0.
Bet of the Week:
Another blank week leaves spot prize spot 48th blank too…

Table News:

“Now I believe that dreams come true”:
Nick Hogwood stays top now only 5 points clear of the rampant Josh H who in turn is 2 points ahead of your Host in third as the scrap for prize places is going to be the most exciting for many a season…
“This just can’t be coincidence”:
Reda Allam stays bottom of the pile a seemingly unassailable eighteen points behind Vim G who in turn is five points behind Dave N…
“And my sadness disappears”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 31 places is Olly Osmond – honourable mentions go to Simon Linds (+10), Tony M (+10), Clare T (+10) and Paul V (+13).
“Clouds just disappear”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 12 places is Mark Seels – dishonourable mentions go to Jack B (-8), Scott H (-9), Louise B (-11) and Jason M (-9).
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
Congrats to our two finalists who both went through quite comprehensively – full results attached. Losers – the money is on the way…
PAS Cup 2011/12:
The Final between Neil Templeton & Gareth Morgan will take place on w/e May 4/5/6
PAS Euro 2012:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Euro 2012 (and pay a reduced entry fee of £10 for the whole tournament!) you will have to finish in the Top 16 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Toon! Toon!, Jon Tofeili.
PAS Champions League 2012/13:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2012/13 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… the heiress, Francesca Fernandez.
And Another Thing:
Euro 12 qualification – a clarification!

If you finish in the Top 16 come end of play on Week 13, you will invited to play PAS Euro 12 for a mere £10 AND you will be “drawn” a team that will earn you 1pt for each goal they score in the tournament. If you finish outside the Top 16, you can still play, but it’ll cost you £15 and you obviously won’t be allocated a team to earn you extra points… there’s £100 in the pot already so well worth getting involved either way eh?!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2012 : Week 11 Roundup

“You’re making history”:
Well what a week that was! Some absolutely shocking scores and it looked like the lowest ever weekly winning total would be posted! But that’s the beauty of PAS – it can always throw up an anomaly to go against the grain…
You can be an authority on current form, league places, historical trends, stats, logic etc. and still fail to get a single correct score. Or you can be a little kid and get your grandparent do your scores (despite them having to bluff their way through trying to make sense of league tables!), or you can do your scores in “57 seconds”, or select scorelines on a whim without knowing what division certain teams are actually in or leave it to Mr 2-0 to gain you points…
Or, you could be about 10 years old, pay attention to detail and carefully plan each entry securing at least £30 a season along the way. Yep, wunderkid Josh Hirst 45 (9) really put his peers to shame by racking up the best total of the season (so far) and walking off with the £20 prize – “take a boo” young man!
“I felt the world stop turning”:
Feeling bad about a kid smashing you all over the place this week? How would you feel if if it was your son?! Why not ask Richard Hirst 5(0) who managed to make a bad week even erm, badder. One of the lowest scores ever recorded (I’m with the school of thought it’s harder to get 5 or under than 50+ in PAS!), vitriol & derision from his “syndicate” pals (Tricky is the first into the “High, err mean Low Five Club” Hall of Fame) and big rumours he asked Hirst Jnr to coach from the side for his imminent CL semi final 2nd leg…
Correct Score of the Week:
If you’re here, I salute you… – most popular score was C Palace 1 Ipswich 1 – 15 of us got that!
6 got the 4-0 at OT (phew!), Sean P / Stuart L / Tony S got Torquay Utd’s 0-0 v Southend and Josh H / Stuart L (again!) / Michelle F got Forest’s 0-0 against Blackpool. Stephen S / Jamie S / Tony M got the 3-1 in Sheffield.
Steve T got the 1-3 between the Saints and the Royals, Frankie F got the 5 pointer at Birmingham & Josh H (again!) got the bore draw Brentford v Notts Co.
Matt G got Tim 1 Jambos 2 and Josh H (again! again!) got Hartlepool 1 Chesterfield 2. However, this week’s best correct score and nearly new best correct score of the season for the second week running(!) goes to Rob Currin for his inspired Leeds 4 Peterboro 1.
Bet of the Week:
My hatred of Brighton is well documented and it’s just been ratcheted up several notches as they denied Clare T a clean sweep on the BotW. Six goals and they couldn’t even get one of them!!! Seaweed sc*m! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

Table News:

“You catch me up I’ll take it slow”:
Nick Hogwood stays top now 10 points clear of Jack B who in turn is 1 correct score ahead of Jamie T in third as the scrap for prize places shapes up to be the most exciting for many a season… Matt G & Gareth M crash the Top Ten.
“Don’t leave me behind”:
Reda Allam stays bottom of the pile still only(?) fourteen points behind Vim G who in turn is five points behind Howard T…
“Forward’s the only way to go”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 32 places is Josh Hirst – honourable mentions go to Francesca F (+10), Stephen S (+11) and Tony S (+14).
“Stop in your tracks (where could I go?)”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 15 places is Mark J Brown – dishonourable mentions go to Louise B (-10), Olly O (-11) and Richard H (-5).
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
Semi Final 2nd leg this week- all to play for in both ties! “Homers” – don’t forget your joker!
PAS Cup 2011/12:
Congrats to our two finalists who both went through quite comprehensively – full results attached. Losers – the money is on the way…
PAS Euro 2012:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Euro 2012 (and pay a reduced entry fee of £10 for the whole tournament!) you will have to finish in the Top 16 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Cheshire’s Forrest Gump, Rowan Marriott.
PAS Champions League 2012/13:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2012/13 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… the Treasurer, Mark Seels.

L13 Spring 2012 : Week 10 Roundup

“Laying in the afterglow”:
The Templetons had a corker of a week – Ulster beat Munster, Arsenal beat Citeh along with, for one, a Top Ten placing and dreams of a PAS Cup final. Clare Templeton 36(6) arguably had an even better week – picking up £20 by pipping Martin S by one correct score and taking a healthy lead into her PAS CL semi final 2nd leg… nice!
“In this world all that I choose has come unbearable”:
A bad week for the old skool! Howard Thomas & Jazz Sian 13(0) trail in last as the season enters into last few weeks…
Correct Score of the Week:
It’s ramping up now… – most popular score was Reading 2 Leeds 0 – 26 of you got that!
9 got the 1-1 at Anfield, 11 got Birmingham City’s 3-1 v Palace and 10 got Rangers’ 3-1 against St Mirren. 4 got the 2 each in Coventry and 5 got stalemate involving Derby & Ipswich.
Norman L / Scott H / Neil T got the 2-2 between the Canaries and the Toffees, Sam A / Pab / Will O got the 8 pointer at Leicester & Sean P / Julian F / Neil T (again!) got bore draw St Johnstone v Inverness
Matt W & Michelle F got Scummers 2 Pompey 2, Sam A (again!) Aberdeen 3 Dundee Utd 1 and Michelle F (again!) got Bristol City’s 0-1 at Forest.
However, this week’s best correct score and nearly new best correct score of the season goes to Rob Currin for his very, very satisfying Arsenal 1 Man City 0.
Bet of the Week:
A double bubble double failure – back to the drawing board for next season me thinks…

Table News:

“I only want to make these things last”:
Nick Hogwood stays top but pegged back to 9 points clear of Jack B who in turn is 5 points ahead of El Presidente in third as the Top 3 shuffles the pack… Jon T, Neil T & Tony B crash the Top Ten.

In order to be invited to enter the PAS Euro 2012 (and pay a reduced entry fee of £10 for the whole tournament!) you will have to finish in the Top 16 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… our resident hack, Gareth Morgan.
PAS Champions League 2012/13:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2012/13 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… a Wembley final bound, Sean Peers.

L13 Spring 2012 : Week 7 Update

Hola!
Tuff place Everton…

Luckily the admin error concerning Reading’s missing goal didn’t affect anything major like the weekly winner or PAS Cup results (phew!) but it did affect the scores of Dave N, Rich L, Andy C & Dan P (who is either the most honest of this bunch or the only one who reads the updates!).

Amended table has now been posted.

The person responsible for collating results was told to never attempt this task whilst playing Gruffalo vs Rapunzel and practising phonics with a 3 year old…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2012 : Week 7 Stewards Enquiry!

Thanks to all who have flagged this up – Reading won 0-4 and not 0-3 as listed in the round up.

All full investigation will take place (not tonight – I’m at Everton) and amendments will be made if individual scores are affected…

It’s not over til the… ’n all that!

Cheers,
Pab
