L13 Spring 2011 : Week 11 Roundup

“Inhibitions dissipate”:
As we go into the final straight of the season, it was nip & tuck for the Week 11 winner and Stuart L was pipped at the post by Pete Britton 39 (6) to the £20. Congrats Pete, that’ll probably pay for a couple of beers at Wembley in a couple of weeks eh?!
“Now my mind’s disintegrated”:
A whole host of Mr 2-0’s disciples floundered this week but Jessica Hirst 10 (0) actually put some scores in, so really has to take the unwanted mantle of being the week’s worst – sorry Jess!

And Another Thing:
Congrats to Ben H who gets married (in the footie season??!) this Saturday (he had to move it from the Friday for some reason…) – I’ve briefed the best man to include the full time scores as PASers Nick H, Jamie S and Dan P will be there (see how thoughtful I am?!)

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 10 Roundup

“Can you afford that luxury?”:
It’s Danny time again – he wished it was Week 3 again but Week 10 will do just nicely! Dan Pelgrom 36(5) just pipped Rob C & Neil O to the £20 weekly prize – how did you manage to get that many points Dan??!
“But I’ll just keep my mouth shut”:
Mirroring Palace’s plunge into abject misery, Gary Blackburne 12(0) probably wishes he was a Gooner like me – oh, maybe not…

PAS Cup:
Results for the Semi Finals attached – can you believe we had a draw? Replay will take place next week…
And Another Thing:
Au revoir Arsene….

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 9 Roundup

“And then I feel it”:
We have our first double weekly winner of the season – stand up Danny Ashworth 43(7) – a fine performance on an overall fine scoring weekend! £20 to bet on a Berba hat-trick at the weekend Dan?!
“Lately find it hard to keep the pace”:
Really not the week to score the lowest points tally – Dan Pelgrom 9(0) will be wishing it was Week 3 again…
Correct Score of the Week:
You were all back on it this week… – most popular score was Man Utd’s 2-0 win over the Cottagers – 25 of you got that!

PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is…the little lady – Jessica Hirst.
And Another Thing:
Maybe this is why Palace offloaded “Judas” Wayne all those years ago… he’s a mug!

“Can someone talk me thru what I’m seeing? Ronaldo sold to Spain for 160mill?? Does that mean he can jus change country and play for Spain?” – QPR midfielder Wayne Routledge takes to Twitter upon hearing that Cristiano Ronaldo had been “sold” to Spain in a bid to aid Portugal’s economic recovery, as reported in this morning’s Independent.

“Ok, ok… #aprilfools #gotme” – Routledge, 10 minutes later.

“If I make mistakes I’m sorry, I’m only human …” – Routledge’s Twitter bio

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 8 Roundup

“Make it easy”:
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh he had to rob his little boy’s piggy bank full of money made from modelling to play PAS this season – well, now Danny Bushell 36 (6) only has to put back £2.50 to call it quits as he walks away with £20 from a horrendous week for most! Well done Daniel son, now, can Chelski make it an even better week for you??!
“Momentary phase”:
I guess the only consolation for Howard Thomas 11(0) is that he’s not alone this week clocking up the worst score – come on down Dave Crisp & Gary Blackburne…
Correct Score of the Week:
Shocker of a week… – most popular score was Wycombe’s 2-0 win over the County of Stockport – 20 of you got that!

Norman L (again!) & Mark S got St Mirren’s win over surprise scorers Hamilton and Jess H / Michelle F / Mark S (again!) nailed Hibee’s 2-2 at home to the Jambos.
However, this week’s best correct score would have been Neil T’s Cardiff 4 Derby 1 but it goes to Martin Stafford for his (look at the camera) effing inspired new best correct score of the season, West Ham 2 Man Utd 4.

And Another Thing:
£41 for Blackpool away??! And we’ll get beat…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 7 Roundup

“And you said you know the score”:
International week brings mixed reactions but usually some high scores littered with bonus points. This week was no exception with Neil Osborne 49(8) accumulating the biggest score (and best to date to boot) and walking off with £20! Nice work…
“Well, are you really so stupid”:
I guess the only consolation for Howard Thomas 18(0) is that his low score this week is the best lo-score this season?
Correct Score of the Week:
Not as many as you’d think got nabbed… – most popular score was Eng-er-land’s 0-2 win over Cymru – 17 of you got that! Gary B & Jessica H got the 2-2 at Dean Court, 9 got Bulgaria’s stalemate v Switzerland and 4 got Cyprus’s 0-0 against Beja-, I mean, Iceland. And Another Thing:
Holland scored 9 and Huntelaar didn’t score???!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 6 Roundup

“I begin dreaming…”:
I… wooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooon!!! It’s been on the cards for a few weeks now and, like Tiger’s new swing, my new strategy is starting to pay off! Despite that little Brazilian at Chelski denying me 3 more points in the 93rd minute, I managed to stave off Rich L to come home with 40(7) – feliz dias!
“I looked out this morning and the sun was gone”:
Ooops! Maybe I should heed what can happen when you hit the upper echelons – Dan Pelgrom 9(0) is feeling the pain…
Correct Score of the Week:
Some fine individual performances… – most popular score was Ipswich Town’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe Utd – 19 of you got that! 5 got the 2-0 at Bramall Lane, 4 got Blackburn’s “Desmond” v Blackpool and 8 got Preston North End’s 2-1 against Coventry City.

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 5 Roundup

“And we used to think it was impossible”:
You may well know that Adele’s omnipresent album is named after her years, but it could easily be a collection of paeans dedicated to one PASer who has had to wait 21 years for his first weekly win. Yep, stand up Gary Blackburne 31 (5) your long wait is over mi amigo – and just to put a cherry on top, that injury time Norwich goal meant that you edged out a pair of Fernandezs’s (Fernandezi?) in the process! Congrats, £20 to spend a on a few plastic bottles you “lost” at QPR or a Doogie cup n saucer set (or whatever tat they’re passing off as merch in the Palace shop these days…)?
“After all that we’ve been through”:
Another fairly unpredictable week tripped up this pair – Howard Thomas & Vim Gupta 10(0) are probably not that bothered really as they haven’t lost *that* much ground overall… the lucky gits!
Correct Score of the Week:
Man it was desperate… – most popular score was St Mirren’s 1-1 with Aberdeen – 16 of you got that! 8 got the 3-1 at Carrow Road, 5 got Dundee U’s 2-2 v Motherwell and Gary B & Martin S got Stockport County’s (see, Andy C! County!) 0-0 against Burton Albion. Julian F & Will O got the 0-3 between Scunthorpe & Leicester and Mark J B (ever seen him and Chicarito in the same room?!) & Olly O got Derby Co 2 Swansea City 1. However, this week’s best correct score goes to Yours Truly for his inspired and fairly obvious in my eyes as Boro shipped five the week before, Portsmouth 0 Middlesbrough 0.
PAS Cup:
Results for the Quarter Finals attached – you may, like me, vomit at the sight of one particular points tally someone went through on… Losing QFs, consolation for your pain is some money!

PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Watford’s own – Richard Lee.
And Another Thing:
We’ll stick with the Arsenal this week as it’s a kind of sick catharsis for me… Sam A (who I think is Sp*rs and obviously feeling like a pig in sh*t currently…) sent this over for my perusal –

Stats gurus Opta have kept detailed records for eight years and the Gunners have recorded a miserable new low. An Opta spokesman said: “There have been 981 Champions League games since 2003-04 and Arsenal are the first of 1,962 sides not to manage a shot of any form in a match since then.”

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 4 Roundup

“And the girls move from thrill to thrill”:
“You can’t win anything with kids…” Well, actually in PAS, especially this season it seems, you can! The U10s have done it again with Jessica Hirst 32(6) claiming this week’s £20 – well done Jess, I bet Josh’ll be gutted being the odd one out! Now, if Reading hadn’t scored that 5th goal, it would’ve been me – grrrrrrrr…..
“Forget that you are sick”:
Yet another unpredictable week scuppered most people’s scores (at the moment, this season has to be one of the lowest scoring ever…) more so, Tony Smith 9(0) who was left floundering and flapping….
Correct Score of the Week:
A few, a few… – most popular score was St Johnstone’s 1-1 with Hibs – 14 of us got that! 6 got the 0-0 at Pride Park, 8 got Chelski’s 1-3 v Blackpool and Mahli G & Mark J B got Norwich’s 1-1 against Preston N E. PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… El Presidente – Moi!
And Another Thing:
Even with 13 men we wouldn’t have beaten those tippy-tappy freaks…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2011 : Week 3 Roundup

“So rolling out my best…”:
Man, what a torrid week eh? I mean, it was so bad I dreamt we lost to a team from Birmingham in the last minute of a Cup Final…what? Oh. One fella who had a dream week was Dan Pelgrom 40 (6) who really put a marker down in a week where most players struggled to hit 20 points – well done Dan, you’ve got Fabio to thank for your £20…
“…you left the room”:
I fear the sibling rivalry banter will be fierce let alone the barracking the “syndicate” are probably handing out at this very moment – Jason Morris 7(0) is our biggest loser in a week of many losers…
Correct Score of the Week:
Not that bad considering – most popular score was Bristol City’s 2-0 win over Scunthorpe – 16 of you got that (including the disciples of Mr 2-0)! 6 got the 4-0 at Ibrox, Jamie T / Dan P / Mark F got Man Yoo’s 0-4 v Wigan and Martin S / Clare T / Mark S got Millwall’s 0-0 against Nottm Forest. Pete B & Neil O got the 0-3 between Middlesbro & QPR and Vim G & Neil O (again!) got (sob) Arsenal 1 Birmingham City 2. “I turn myself around”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 25 places is Dan Pelgrom – honourable mentions go to Dave N (+15), Neil M (+16), Martin S (+19) and Mr 2-0 (+15)
“…every time the plan spins”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 19 places is Danny Ashworth – dishonourable mentions go to Matt G (-14), Jazz S (-17), Nick H (-14), Me (-14), Jason M (-18) and Paul H (-14)
PAS Champions League 2011/12:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Champions League 2011/12, you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… current champ – Shaun Backhouse.
And Another Thing:
Only a handful of you signed up to Pete Britton’s fantastic season long “Dream Team” competition (get signed up for next season kids – it’s only a £5!) so would have missed weekly insights such as this…

“Nearly didn’t make it tonight. I was on my way home from work today and this guy was in my way so I smashed him in the side of his head with my elbow. There was a cop standing on the corner but luckily for me he didn’t see the incident. Unluckily for me, the whole thing got caught on CCTV. So, I was marched off to the station. The Chief Inspector looked at the CCTV footage and decided that yes, I had clearly deliberately smashed this guy in the side of the head. However, unbelievably, as there was a policeman in the vicinity, I was let off on a technicality. Even though he clearly didn’t see it. As I said, unbelievable. If you didn’t know better you’d think that my dad was best mates with either the copper or the chief of police (or both) … No, but seriously folks – how can Rooney be allowed to get away with that?! Clattenburg is a blatant liar – he clearly didn’t see the incident – that’s why he shrugged his shoulders at the time. And the FA refuse to stand up to Ferguson and United … again. Spleen vented… for now.”

Cheers,
Pab
