L13 Winter 2010 : Week 2 – Roundup…

“How did you get so very high”:
You’d think scoring 40 points would secure a weekly win wouldn’t you? But no, Charlie H, it doesn’t. So, then you’d think getting 47 points with a mighty impressive 9 correct scores would win you £20 yeah? Well, no actually. It only wins you £10 this week as both Andrew Darbyshire & Shaun Backhouse 47 (9) somehow managed this fine tally. Well done boys, it’ll take some beating…
“If luck was a bird then you shot it down”:
Oh dear! The 3 minute flash scoring method will need a rethink as Michelle Fernandez 8(1) brings shame to our name. If she was Scouse she’d be wearing an armband….
Correct Score of the Week:
Another round of fine predicting – most popular score was Rangers win at the Jambos – 22 of you got that! 8 got the 3-1 at Fir Park, 7 got Celtic’s 3-1 v Hamilton and 4 got Leicester’s 3-1 against Sunderland. 4 of you got the 2-2 between Boro & Pompey and 4 got Hull 0 Coventry 0. Andy C / Mark F / Jamie S got Bristol City 0 Norwich City 3 and Dave N / Sean P / Vicki O got Swansea 0 Derby Co. 0. However, this week’s best correct score and new best correct of the season so far, goes to Vicki Osmond for her very brave Liverpool 1 Blackpool 2. So, Vicki really is smarter than a nearly 9 year old?! (sorry I got your age wrong last week Jess H!)
Bet of the Week:
As my Forest mate said, “Doncaster my @rs*” And how right he was! Yep, Dave C had a mare and won nowt for spot prize slot 23rd – next up is the Andrew D & Shaun B show…

Table News:

“You got so high you almost touched the sky”:
Shaun Backhouse moves up 11 places t go 1 point ahead on Andrew D who in turn is 9 points ahead of Jamie S in third.
“Lady luck couldn’t wish you more luck than I”:
Ooops! Vim Gupta goes down 24 places to the bottom of the pile one point behind Jason M.
“So take a jump”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 47 places is Charlie Harris – honourable mentions go to Debbie J (+30), Rich L (+31), Tony B (+25), Nick H (+28) and Jon T (+25)
“I won’t look at you and ask why”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 57 places is Michelle Fernandez – dishonourable mentions go to Stephen S (-22), Ellen F (-31), Mark F (-24), Catriona J (-50) and Vim G (-24)
PAS Cup 2011:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS Cup 2011 (and pay a reduced entry fee!) you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… my fantasy friend, Stuart Longworth.
And Another Thing:
You’ll see from the table we’ve lost a player (boo!) and we might be losing another (double boo!) – not paid yet?! Get your payment across as soon as please!

Gonna be away in future weeks? Well, you’ll be able to find scoresheets up to and including Week 6, download and send over in good time!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2010 : Week 2 BotW

Our first Bet of the Week comes from Mr Crisp – he’s selecting to boost his own weekly winnings and put some money on the spot prize slot 23rd – fingers crossed!

6 Homes:
Doncaster, Ipswich, Swansea, Celtic, Man City, Liverpool (20/1)
7 Homes:
Doncaster, Ipswich, Swansea, Celtic, Man City, Liverpool, West Ham (47/1)
8 Homes:
Doncaster, Ipswich, Swansea, Celtic, Man City, Liverpool, West Ham, Hull (95/1)

Result: LOSE!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2010 : BotW Info

First up will be my old mucker Crispy – we had varying degrees of success with this last season but I’ll try and make it a bit easier to get some money into the spot prize coffers…

If you win a week you’ll be asked to provide 3 home win accumulators this season – 6 homes, 7 homes and 8 homes. I’m guessing the logical way to do this is to pick 8 and then whittle one away for 7 and then another for your 6, but, hey, you can do what you want.

Just remember though you’re trying to add to your £20 winnings and put some money into an allotted spot prize position for those less fortunate than yourself! We’ve set aside £3 a week from the entry fees to pay for this so let’s make sure we win it all back and then some!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Winter 2010 : Week 1 – Roundup…

“You are the star, win the applause”:
We nearly had a debutant winning in his first week! Jez H was leading all the way until Sunday lunchtime when a fine Bolton display earned a 2-2 draw to scupper his haughty claims. All good then for Dave Crisp 30 (4) who stole in to take the £20 weekly prize – put it this way, Mr Crisp’s hungover presence at the Emirates on Saturday leads me to believe his money won’t be spent on booze…
“You should know the score, you should know the score by now”:
It was a random week for scores (not sure how I managed 20 points!) and Dan Pelgrom 6 (0) felt it more random than most… get it out the way early doors Dan!
Correct Score of the Week:
Despite what appeared to be a random week, quite a few of you did alright, you show offs – 10 got the 3-0 at Loftus Road, 5 got Fulham’s stalemate with Everton and 5 got Liverpool’s 2-2 with Sunderland. Julian F & Frankie F got Birmingham 0 Wigan 0, Stuart L (fine debut Stu!) & Howard T got West Ham 1 Sp*rs 0, Mark G & Cat J got Nottm For 3 Swansea 1 and Scott A (welcome back Scotty!) & Neil M got Reading 3 Barnsley 0. Andy C/Jez H/Cat J got the “desmond” at Hamilton, Dave C & Jamie S got Man Yoo’s two-two at the Reebok and Gareth M & Tony M (welcome onboard Tony – nice 9 points!) got Aberdeen 2 Rangers 3. Michelle F got Stoke’s surprise win at the Toon and Scott A got Watford 3 Boro 1. However, this weeks best correct score and therefore best correct of the season so far, goes to Jessica Hirst for her inspired Burnley 0 Bristol City 0. So, are you smarter than a 6 year old?!

And Another Thing:
Lots of payments have come in – thanks! Anyone who hasn’t got round to it, please do as soon as possible – don’t make me chase you!

Other news, Dave N who deals with all the science stuff behind PAS, is busy looking after his new bairn and developing the site to include (gasp!) an online scoresheet! I’ve tried the prototype and it’s like a dream (no faffing with Word docs for a start!) – I’ll keep you posted on when you can join in the fun but in the meantime, I may call on a few of you to do some road-testing.

Gonna be away in future weeks? Well, from Thursday you’ll be able to find scoresheets up to and including Week 6, download and send over in good time!

That’s it for this week – oh, we got any Baggies fans playing? You were good on Saturday and Di Matteo is the man – You.Are.Staying.Up!

L13 Winter 2010 : Competition Preview

Hola!

The new PAS season will commence on weekend 25/26 September – get it in your diaries and start telling some new bods about our beautiful game so they can sign up!

Cheers,
Pab

World Cup 2010 : Final

Hola!

Congrats to Jamie T for getting the last two scores correct (a bit too late though mate!) – 4 players got the Germany 2-3 and Mark Sh notched the 0-0 thug-fest alongside Jamie…

So…

The World Champion for 2010 is (live! from Norwich!) Ben Hogwood who just about held off a valiant late effort from Jamie Tofeili in the runner up position. Black Star Will (no team) Oppong capped a fine tournament with the bronze medal just edging out Tony Bowley in 4th and Olly Osmond in 5th.

Josh Hirst wins Young Player of the Tournament finishing 6th (watch out Jazz, he’s racking up the winnings, and he’s only 10!) – well done to Gareth M, Savan

A, Neil T and Richard H for their Top Ten finishes.

Michelle F gets the 13th place spot prize thanks to Italy and Jamie T/Scott A finished on 23rd thanks to Cameroon & New Zealand not outscoring each other.

Julian F and Dave N landed on 32nd thanks to having no team to out-score each other…

In the battle of the basement, Rich L collects £15 for a 42nd spot finish and Martin Stafford avoided the wooden spoon courtesy of Denmark’s 3 goals.

Correct Score of the Tournament goes to Sam Arora for his emphatic Portugal 7 North Korea 0.

All monies will be paid across today or tomorrow and show up in your bank account as “Pab PAS” (and I’ll be asking for some people to send some money back too – doh!)

Thanks to everyone who took part, please come back in September and remember to tell your friends to get involved! (hopefully it will all be online by then and Pab proof!)

Have a good summer!

Cheers,
Pab

World Cup 2010 : SF – Update

Hey,
Ben H still leads the way going into the last two games and Will O will hate Uruguay even more as their last minute goal on Tuesday denied him 5 points and top spot!

Pretty much as you were for everyone else due to the, ahem, random results with only Julian F profiting due to his very intuitive Holland 3 Uruguay 2 (still not good enough to oust the 7-0 from Best Correct Score though!)

Martin S is still just evading the wooden spoon with Mr 2-0 only 2 points behind him…

Cheers,
Pab

PS – I forgot Suarez can play in the 3rd/4th play off – c’mon Luis!

World Cup 2010 : QF Stage – Update

Looks like the Top 2 will battle it out between them for the crown of World Champion – both got a very commendable 5pts in a horrific QF round for most… (yeah, nil points for moi!)

Savan A somehow managed to get 9 points though (he got the Holland score right – check out the big brain on Savan…) and is making a late charge for the top…

At the bottom Mr 2-0 is only 3 points behind Martin Stafford, who amazed even himself getting 6 points on the board!

Oh, a quick mention to Mark Shakespeare and the brothers Tofeili – they got the Spain score right…

Not long to go now – penultimate update in a few days time.

Cheers,
Pab

World Cup 2010 : Group Stage – Update

Hola!

8 games to go and still all up for grabs….

Ben Hogwood continues to lead and he still has his (unfancied) team in the competition – Olly O had a great “Last 16” and moves into 2nd with the impressive Will O nicely placed in 3rd.

Tony B moves ominously into 4th – an unprecedented League & Word Cup double on the cards?

Josh H continues his fine league form moving to just off the prizes and Jazz S is hovering about looking to add even more money to his PAS coffers…

At the other end, Martin S is having a battle royale with Mr 2-0 for the wooden spoon!

Cheers,
Pab

World Cup 2010 : World Cup Latest…

PASers,
Apologies for the fragmented communication thus far – I think we’ve cracked it now, so with a break in playing days I can keep you up to speed in a fashion you’re used to!

Attached is the latest table – please note the “goals” tally inclues all goals to date (up to Jun 28) not just for the group stage.

I’ll have a “Last 16” table for you tomorrow plus the QF scoresheet (so be prepared to get your scores in!)

Good stuff so far with all to play for – our very own Black Star, Will O leads the way for players without a ’team’ in 5th, the missus continues to thrive on 30 second score predictions and Savan A could be the one to watch as the Argies charge their way through the competition.

Oli P is having a fine debut (sorry about the scoresheet mix up mate!), our two U10s are in the Top 30, their dad isn’t quite taking advantage of Holland’s goals and Rob H has yet to send a scoresheet in despite having Brazil!

Yours truly had a brief respite climbing to the heady heights of 34th with my only consolation seeing Mr 2-0 rock bottom!

Cheers & forca Portugal!
Pab
