L13 Spring 2010 : Week 6 – Roundup…

“…we were golden”:
There’s a pretender to the Jazz Sian crown for being really really good at PAS! Tony Bowley 42 (7) takes his second weekly £20 prize and you want to see what he’s doing to the table…
“You can try your whole life…”:
He may be sunning himself up in Dubai but Mark J Brown 12 (0) has a dreary ol’ score this week.
Correct Score of the Week:
Not the best… 4 got Arsenal 3 Burnley 1, 12 got Norwich 3 Yeovil 1 and 8 got the Rangers 3-1. Julian F, Jon A, Shaun B got the 0-0 between Fulham and Spurs and Clare T, Sam A, Vim G got the 0-0 between Colchester and Brighton. Best correct score of the week? No one claimed that…
Bet of the Week:
The curse strikes again as Neil T goes close but not close enough – surely Tony B can make it stop with his second attempt this season?

Table News:

“Sometimes there’s no poison like a dream”:
Tony Bowley stays top for a sixth week, now with an incredible 31 point lead over the new kid on the block, Josh H. Scott A is up to third.
“…you can’t save the unsaveably”:
Little Frankie Fernandez remains bottom but now only 9 points adrift of Dave C. Gareth M drops 3 places, 12 points away from the wooden spoon.
“You can dry your eyes”:

And Another Thing:
like things from the 80’s? Check these out for some vintage! http://news.bbc.co.uk/panorama/hi/front_page/newsid_8298000/8298751.stm and http://smashingtelly.com/2007/09/12/the-inter-city-firm-1985/ and on the Smashing Telly you’ll find that 1984 “Threads” drama about a nuclear holocaust – which gave me bad dreams for a few nights!

L13 Spring 2010 : Week 5 – Roundup…

“Can work wonders”:
A lovely double for the Templeton household this season as Neil Templeton 47 (9) had the landlords of Belfast no doubt jumping for joy… hopefully he’ll raise a glass to runner up Josh H who missed out courtesy of 2 correct scores – a fine performance from our second youngest PASer in the Spring ’10 campaign.
“…when I try and just die”:
William, oh William, it really was nothing this week – Will Oppong 14 (0) is feeling down, miserable even…
Correct Score of the Week:
Quite tame this week folks… 15 got the blindingly obvious St Mirren 0 Hamilton 0, 8 got WBA 3 Derby 1, 6 got the Arsenal’s 1-3 at Stoke, 6 got the bore-fest between Sunderland & Fulham, Nick H & Matt G got Dundee U 3 Falkirk 0 and Mark Sh & Clare T got the other 0-0 at Portman Road. However, best correct score of the week, goes to Gareth Morgan for his “administration busting” Burnley 1 Portsmouth 2.
Bet of the Week:
Michelle F had a complete Elm Street so we’ve yet to find a winner going to the half way stage – step up, Neil Templeton. We need a winner son!

Table News:

“But I’m only ever seen in the right place”:
Tony Bowley stays top for a fifth week, now with a huge 28 point lead over Jason M. Week 5 winner Neil T is up to third.
“…and now that your day- dream is forgotten”:
Little Frankie Fernandez remains bottom now 16 points adrift (poor baby!) of Matt W, Howard T moves up a place 19 points away from the wooden spoon.
“Turns it ’round”:

PAS World Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS World Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Jamie Tofeili.
And Another Thing:
Aaron Ramsey’s injury is one of the worse things i’ve ever witnessed live, how they managed to play on I’ll never know… oh, and Mr Wenger is a t*t.

Cheers,
Pab

Danny Ashworth 26(4) v Andrew Chesworth 18(2)
(joker: Aston Villa = 2pts)

L13 Spring 2010 : Week 4 – Roundup…

“Because dreams are made of this”:
Q: What’s worse – seeing three 90th minute goals deny you of 3 correct scores? Or seeing your missus do her scores under duress (“but you have to do PAS, it’s part of the family business – think about the message we’re sending out…”) and sweeping up the weekly prize despite doing her scores “off the top of her head” (“are Darlington any good?”)
A: ask Neil Templeton… and now me. Yep, spouse envy a-go-go at Casa Fernandez as Michelle Fernandez 35 (6) takes great pleasure in taking £20 from my grubby mitts…
“My camel looks so tired”:
Richard Hirst will have a slight grin on his face for reasons akin to above as Catriona Johnstone 11(0) limps in last this week
Correct Score of the Week:
Bobby blimmin’ Zamora… 14 got Toon 3 Preston 0, 5 got the Scunny – Watford two all, Dave C & Michelle F got Ipswich’s 0-1 at Sheff Wed, Ellen F & Savan A got Wigan 0 Sp*rs 3 and Paul J got the ’appy ’Ammers’ 3-0 v Hull. However, best correct score of the week, goes to Jon Tofeili for his “how did we all miss this one?!” Man City 0 Liverpool 0.
Bet of the Week:
The curse of the weekly winner continues as Neil M comes up well short on all three bets… Michelle F will be playing for BotW spot prize slot 13th (and herself of course!) in Week 5

Table News:

“It’s a game I treasure dear”:
Tony Bowley stays top for a fourth week, now with a very impressive 20 point lead over Jason M. Scott A falls to third.
“It’s hardly worth my while”:
Little Frankie Fernandez remains bottom now 11 points adrift of Howard T and Jon T.
“…greet you with a smile”:
Highest climber this week, up a whopping 22 places, is Michelle Fernandez to 22nd. Honourable mentions for Simon L (+11), Savan A (+12), Stephen S (+12), Ben H (+11) and Richard H (+15)
“…seek the helpless future”:
Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 15 places, is Sam Arora to 35th. Dishonourable mentions for Mark Sh (-10), Pab (-14), Julian F (-12), Tony S (-13), Olly O (-10) and Jamie T (-14)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week Thirteen, you WILL win these prizes! Current incumbents are Andrew D on 11th, Martin S on 12th, Savan A on 13th, Matt G on 17th, Josh H on 23rd, Andy C on 27th, Gary B on 33rd, Rich L on 39th, Paul H on 42nd, Catriona J on 50th, Jon T on 54th and Howard T on 55th.
PAS World Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS World Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Ben McKeown.
And Another Thing:
To confirm – a top 32 finish grants you an invitation to play in this summer’s PAS World Cup ’10 – entry fee will be £10 for the whole tournament and you will be “drawn” a team whose goals will add points to your total throughout the competition. Any other players who want to get involved will be asked for £15 senza any chance of bonus points via World Cup goals…

Cheers,
Pab

I’ve come across the desert
To greet you with a smile
My camel looks so tired
It’s hardly worth my while
To tell you of my travels
Across the golden East
I see your preparations
Invite me first to feast
Take me I’m yours
Because dreams are made of this
Forever there’ll be
A heaven in your kiss

Amusing belly dancers
Distract me from my wine
Across Tibetan mountains
Are memories of mine
I’ve stood some ghostly moments
With natives in the hills
Recorded here on paper
My chills and thrills and spills

It’s really been some welcome
You never seem to change
A grape to tempt your leisure
Romantic gestures strange
My eagle flies tomorrow
It’s a game I treasure dear
To seek the helpless future
My love at last I’m here

L13 Spring 2010 : Week 3 – Roundup…

“I’ll be your light in the mist”:
I made him sit in my seat and watch the Scousers lose in our beautiful stadium and what gratitude do I get? Yeah, he comes along and takes £20 off me… well done Neil Meredith 41 (6), this week’s winner yet again!
“And put your face in the gutter”:
I probably sat in his seat at Palace on Sunday and what gratitude does he get? Yep, Howard Thomas 9 (0) hang your head in shame just like that linesman…
Correct Score of the Week:
No takers on the 4-4 then ….10 got Huddersfield 2 Swindon 2, 7 (!!) got Chelsea’s 4-1, 5 got the 0-0 at Hamilton and 5 got the 2-2 that should have been 2-1 down at Selhurst Park. 4 got the no score bore in the big derby at Preston and Francesca F/Simon Lind/Neil M got the “Desmond” at the Madejski. Will O got Fulham’s 4-0 v Notts Co, Julian F got Stoke’s 1-1 at Eastlands and Richard H got the 3-2 between Kilmarnock & St Johnstone. However, best correct score of the week, goes to Savan Arora for his Hearts 3 Falkirk 2.
Bet of the Week:
From so near last week, to so far this week as Matt G gets it all horribly wrong (including his rugger treble tip!)… next up is Neil Meredith playing for himself and BotW spot prize slot 55th.

Table News:

“I’ll make you top of the list”:
Tony Bowley stays top for a third week, now with a 12 point lead over Scott A. Jason M climbs up to third.

PAS World Cup 2010:
In order to be invited to enter the PAS World Cup 2010 you will have to finish in the Top 32 after 13 weeks of play. Currently sneaking the last spot is… Stephen Street.
And Another Thing:
tasty bit of goss from a PAS insider… “I had a meeting last week at the Emirates regarding overseas sponsorship, and on the subject of Arsenal playing a game in China, the answer I received was definitely not this season and probably not the season after. However, after that, there maybe a chance of it happening!!” Wenger to leave???

Cheers,
Pab
