L13 Spring 2009 : Week 12 BotW

Bet of the Week comes from Jon Allin – and there’s me thinking he’d target some 0-0s…

A quick away treble for the BOTW… Burnley, Forest & Peterborough. Think you can get about 8/1 on that little beauty.

Result: LOSE -£25.00

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 11 – Roundup…

Sweets From A Baby:
If there was any doubts about the 0-0 points changing next season they were firmly put to rest as Jon Allin 41(4) cynically exploited the loop hole and benefited to take his second weekly win of the season – little Francesca F was so upset at finishing second she cried herself to sleep not even finishing her bottle…
Sour Times:
A miserable weekend all round for familia Fernandez as Julian Fernandez 9 (0) clocked up his second worst score of the week for the season
Correct Score of the Week:
No one got the 6-0… Nine got THE MOST OBVIOUS 0-0 involving Middlesbro and Fulham, 6(!) got 9 points from Ipswich 3 – Norwich 2 and another 4 got 8 points from Dundee U v Kilmarnock – David G / Jamie T / Jon A chipped in for a big bonus by nailing Man Utd 0 Everton 0. Scott A & Richard H got the Hibs 2 Rangers 3 and Richard H & Neil T got Leeds’s 3-1 v Tranmere. Frankie F & her dad got the two-two between Charlton & Blackpool, Jason M got Falkirk 0 Hearts 0 and Jon A got the 0-0 at the Madejski. This week’s Best Correct Score goes to Jazz Sian for his Man City 4 WBA 2 – in a normal season, nailed on for best correct score of the season, but we’ve had that St Mirren one, haven’t we!
Bet of the Week:
Arsene picked the wrong team so we lost this week and are now £20 with 2 weeks to go – Jon A, got any 0-0s for us to bet on???!

Table News:

“I Fly Like Paper, Get High Like Planes”:
Surging to the top, Jason Morris has a two point lead over Jamie T. Dave C falls to third a further 3 points behind…
“Already Going Hell…”:
He’s off the bottom! Will O has a majestic week leaving Mr 2-0 in his wake with Matt Worsfold now the wooden spooner by a point.
“No One On The Corner Has Swagger Like Us”:
Highest climbers this week are David Goggin & Matt Gingell both up 9 places to 25th and 20th respectively. Honourable mentions for Richard H (+8) and Rich L / Scott A / Jon A / Francesca F / Greg E (+5)
“Lethal Poison Through Their System”:
Falling furthest this week is Mark J Brown down ten places to 33rd – dishonourable mentions for Gareth M (-8) and Jamie S / Shaun B / Tony A (-5).
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Sean P is on the promos at 11th (+2), Tony S is at 13th (-5), and Mark J B is on 33rd (-10)
PAS Cup:
Both semi finals were decided by the 90th goals at Ipswich and Man City
And Another Thing:
Never change your score from 3-2 to 4-2!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 11 BotW

Bet of the Week comes from Mark Shakespeare – can he turn £15 down to £20 up? He thinks so…

How about Everton & Arsenal to contest the cup final? Should be able to get around 6/1.

Result: LOSE -£20.00

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 10 – Roundup…

Macbeth:
Very much seeing the woods from the trees, our very own “Bard of PAS” Mark Shakespeare 31(4) won this week’s £20 just seeing off Neil T & Tony B. Would you believe he got all the Scottish scores right too? Well he didn’t…
McDuff:
Oh William it was really nothing… actually it was 13(0) for Will Oppong – off with his head!
Correct Score of the Week:
A Fernandez family fare this week… Six got 5 points from Wolves v Southampton and another 6 got 5 points from Rangers – Motherwell… – li’l Frankie F got the only nil-nil this week between Charlton & Birmingham and yours truly got the 3-1 at the Riverside. However, this week’s Best Correct Score goes to Julian Fernandez for his Liverpool 4 Blackburn 0. Good boy!
Bet of the Week:
Yay! We won! Crispy’s acca netted £25 so now we’re only £15 in the red with three weeks to go – Mark S, over to you…

Table News:

“How High”:
Dave Crisp has his lead cut to 5 points as the top three remain the same.
“Can’t Even Be Bothered”:
He’s still on the bottom! Mr 2-0 is nearest to Will Oppong, ten points away.
“Opportunity”:
Highest climber this week is Mark Shakespeare up 11 places to 21st. Honourable mentions for Jamie S (+8), Lisa G (+7) and Tony B (+5)
“You’re Not Very Well”:
Falling furthest this week are John McSherry & Paul Henshaw both down nine places to 31st & 32nd respectively – dishonourable mentions for Dave N (-5) and Dan P (-8).
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Shaun B is on the promos at 11th (-1), Sean P is at 13th (+1), and Lisa G is on 33rd (-8)
Other Stuff:
Please make sure you send your scores back on a Word doc where possible! PDFs and normal emails are a proper pain…
And Another Thing:
Mr 2-0 could finish bottom – c’mon Will!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 10 BotW

Bet of the Week for the third time this season comes from Dave Crisp….£40 down, we need a winner!

4 homes Wolves / Liverpool / Chelsea / Swansea to win

If they come in, that’ll give us a £15 deficit going into Week 11…

Result: WIN! -£15.00

Happy Easter!
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 9 – Roundup…

Angstgegner:
He doesn’t wear one, but he’s just performed a trick with one… Dave Crisp 44 (7) records his third weekly win this season (the first person to do so in 20 years!) just edging out Jon T, Tony B and Matt G in another high scoring week – well done Crispy, that’s paid for all your ticket when we go to Anfield to scupper another title dream in that ’89 kit…
Bauernspitz:
Hardly a “poor” score but Francesca Fernandez 16 (2) managed to end up bottom of the pile this week and at the same time bring the family name into disrepute. Bed with no tea for you girl!
Correct Score of the Week:
You we’re al over the stalemates… Nine got THE MOST OBVIOUS 0-0 involving QPR and Crystal Palace, 9 got 8 points from Hull v Portsmouth and another 8 got 8 points from Coventry – Reading – nine others chipped in for a big bonus by nailing Celtic 4 Hamilton 0. Nine got the last gasp Cardiff 2 Swansea 2 and 5 got Heart’s 3-1 v Kilmarnock. Tony S & Richard H got the two-two between Dundee U & Hibs and Louise B & Ben H got the “6 pointer” at the Hawthorns. This week’s Best Correct Score goes to Matt Gingell for his Man Utd 3 Aston Villa 2 – in a normal season nailed on for best correct score of the season, but we’ve had that St Mirren one, haven’t we!
Bet of the Week:
Mr Crisp’s tip could only manage 7th in the National (did I tell you I had Mon Mome on the spreads?!) but hopefully it will be third time lucky for Crispy (and us!) cos we bloomin’ well need it!

Table News:

Bauerntrick:
Dave Crisp goes into top spot with a 6 point lead over Jason M – Jamie T is a further 4 points behind in 3rd and is now only 5 points away from his brother…

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 9 BotW

Bet of the Week comes from Dave Crisp (his 2nd go this season!) and has a equine flavour…

£2.50 each way on Southern Vic in the Grand National

Odds are around 25/1 at the minute and we really need this one to come in – and it might, cos I witnessed Crispy picking the winner last year!

Result: LOSE -£40.00

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 8 – Roundup…

Wor Alan:
Whoah! Where did that come from?? Shhhurely an April’s Fool! But no! Dave Crisp 60 (10) really did record the second highest weekly score ever (and from a man who can get the lowest weekly score too! In the same season! Dontcha just luv PAS?!) A proper “feast” of an international week saw several players record scores of over 40 without a sniff of the £20 – and spare a (small) thought for Shaun B who got 53 points… Well done Crispy, that’s paid for half your ticket when we go to Anfield to scupper another title dream in that ’89 kit…
Scummers:
Hardly a “poor” score but Julian Fernandez 17 (0) managed to end up bottom of the pile this week and at the same time bring the family name into disrepute.
Correct Score of the Week:
EVERYONE had a piece of the action (well, nearly everyone..)
Five of us got THE MOST OBVIOUS 0-0 involving Slovenia and Czech Rep, 12 got 8 points from Germany v Liechtenstein and another 9 got 8 points from Holland – Macedonia – four others chipped in for a bonus by nailing Portugal 0 Sweden 0. Eleven got Malta 0 Denmark 3, 6 got Holland’s 3-0 v Scotland, 4 got the Danes 2nd 3-0 victory and 4 managed to get the historic Czech Rep 1 Slovakia 2 scoreline. Gareth M & Will O got the one-one between Italy & Ireland but this week’s Best Correct Score goes to Mark Seels for his Armenia 2 Estonia 2 (mostly cos it was unique!)
Bet of the Week:
Rob Hathorn’s British/Irish/Iberian acca fell foul thanks to Ireland and Portugal (typical!), so now we’re £35 down and looking to Mr Crisp to come up with a Red Rum..

Table News:

Professor Booty:
Jamie Tofeili stays in top spot now with a 10 points led over Jason M – Dave C is a further 7 points behind in 3rd
“..dictionary definition of the word spastic”:
He’s off the bottom! Anders H now looks down at our ’Appy ’Ammer Matt Worsfold via four whole points and two big places.
Like two sealed copies of “Expansions”:

“Dancin’ around like you think you’re Janet Jackson”:
Falling furthest this week is Dan Pelgrom down 11 places to 28th – dishonourable mentions for Louise B (-8), Julian F (-9) and Ciaran McG (-7)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Gareth M is on the promos at 11th(+10), Sean P is at 13th (-3), and Matt G is on 33rd (+1)
Other Stuff:
Danny A deserves a mention for getting an amazing 23 out of 30 results right this week – let’s hope he had a few lines on at the bookies…
And Another Thing:
David Pleat – co-commentator. Why? I did hear that description of Ukraine’s Kurt Cobain correctly didn’t I ??!

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 8 BotW

Bet of the Week comes from Week 7 winner Rob Hathorn – I’m on this!

My fivefold goes on Ireland, England, Portugal, Spain & Holland.

£5 on that should get us £36 back on Paddy Power. All eyes on The Irish pulling it out of the bag much like their rugger boys, the rest should take care of themselves…

Result: LOSE -£35.00

Cheers,
Pab

L13 Spring 2009 : Week 7 – Roundup…

Stevie Me:
Monster monster score in a quite average scoring week has paid dividends for Rob Hathorn 46 (8) winning him the weekly £20. Well done Roberto, QPR don’t need your money so you might want to spend it on a treat for Toon missus – she’ll need cheering up!
Stevie Wonder:
About time a Sp*rs supporter had something to cry about again – I can’t be doing with al this “top half” malarky going on at the moment – Gareth Morgan 8(0) you are very poor!
Correct Score of the Week:
It’s all about the stalemates again… Seven of us got THE MOST OBVIOUS 0-0 involving Sheff Wed and Swansea, 6 got 8 points from Hamilton and another 6 got 8 points from Hibs (nice!) – four others chipped in for a bonus by nailing Kilmarnock 0 Motherwell 0. Clare T got the nil nil between Ipswich & Watford and 10 intelligent people (including my daughter!) got Newcastle 1 Arsenal 3. No one got Liverpool though so this week’s Best Correct Score goes to Matt Worsfold for his Charlton 0 PNE 0
Bet of the Week:
Sean P did send over an acca but it had Rangers in it so it would have lost anyway! My replacement treble didn’t happen so we go into Week 8 £30 down – Rob H, give us an international winner please!

Table News:

I Kissed A Girl:
Jamie Tofeili takes over in top spot 5 points ahead of Jason M. A gifted young predictor hasn’t given up the chase in third…
UR So Gay:
He’s off the bottom! Will O now looks down at our Swedish representative Anders Hoglund via one whole point.
Hot..:
Highest climber this week is (surprise surprise!) Rob Hathorn up a huge 21 places to 8th. Honourable mentions for Jon A (+15) Danny A (+6) and Clare T (+6)
..N Cold:
Falling furthest this week is (surprise surprise!) Gareth Morgan down 11 places to 21st – dishonourable mentions for Sean P (-6), Mark S (-5) and Mark J B (-5)
Spot Prizers:
OK, if you finish on these positions at the end of Week 13, you WILL win these prizes! Jon A is on the promos at 11th(+15), Tony S is at 13th (+3), and Clare T is on 33rd (+6)
Other Stuff:
Be aware it’s international week for Week 8 and it carries on until Wednesday’s games!
And Another Thing:
Isn’t it nice to see Mr 2-0 struggling…

Cheers,
Pab
