PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 10 round up

“Touche!”

Dinner With Gershwin:

You know how PAS is set up so the “best, most deserving” are rewarded at the end of the season?

Well, I got my sums wrong and now I’d like to change it to the least deserving to reap the rewards! <rubs hands together as the Fernandez clan will 100% clean up>

What?!

U-turn?

Moi?!!!

Luckily PAS Towers is a paragon of sense and justice and fairness, (plus there are two Board members bigger than me), so madness cannot ensue…

Poor attempt at satire aside –

Only four people managed 30 points or more in a week which saw a dearth of correct scores.

Neil M was even more excitable than a “Leo” on the Guinness, Matthew S spied some sibling schadenfreude, and Jazz S threatened to take the throne back for at least a week…

Edging them all out though was Olly Osmond 34 (6) – a Forest missed penalty, Ronnie’s “cheek” chalked off and the lovely VAR at Leeds all contributing to a narrow win and that £20 prize.

Bravo Mr O, wanna buy a white label of Chemical Brothers, “Song To The Siren”?

Love’s Unkind:

Yuck of a week across the board with 15 punters posting fifteen points or less.

Someone who needs to be less Truss and more Nandy is Martin Stafford 8 (0) who was not only bottom of the pile, but the only one with zero correct scores…

Pied!

Correct Score of the Week:

Sparse…most popular score was Wolves’ 1-0 win over Forest – 22 of youse got that!

Seven celebrated the bore draw between St Mirren & Kilmarnock

Howard T, Darren McC & Emma T just knew Stockport would score against Grimsby for a 1-3

Andy C, Danny A & Ric P got Fulham’s “Desmond” with Bournemouth

Tim P snaffled up the 5 points served up by Port Vale & Forest Green

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Neil Templeton for his he-took-the-words-right-out-my-mouth-on-What’s-App inspired, Leicester City 0 Crystal Palace 0!

Bet of the Week:

Ben McKeown was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 9 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Controversially just missed…

“I fancy us (Toon) to win tomorrow BUT I’m not betting on that. We’ll go for a lower league North-Eastern triumvirate….”

South Shields (Road to Wembley) – in!

Middlesbrough (Road to Nowhere) – out!

Darlo (Road to the Vanarama!) – out!*

*Usually, Bet 365 offers a payout if your team goes 2 goals up in a game, but in this case, it didn’t apply!

And Darlo let a 0-2 lead slip for a 2-2 draw…

Quaked.

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd, leaving it on sweet nothing – still a chance though!

Paul Henshaw is at 83rd this week…

Mr H, I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Saturday lunchtime, please!

Last chance to add something!

Table News:

State Of Independence”:  Dan Wayman stays top, now only 7 points ahead of Jason M who, in turn, is two points ahead of Scott H in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

This Time I Know It’s For Real”:  Matthew Murphy stays bottom, still two points behind Dan M who, in turn, is, umm, 4 points off moi…

I Feel Love”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping(?!) 18 places is Matthew Stafford – honourable mentions go to Paul F (+14), Danny A (+16), Predictz (+14), and Gareth M (+15)

Rumour Has It: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 24 places is Martin Stafford – dishonourable mentions go to Alex R (-14), Rob C (-16), and Paul H (-18)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 9 round up

“Over to you Leo…”

Happy Hour:

It’s tough at the top. Not that I know of course. You’d think after 30-odd years I’d get at least a week…

Thirty-three(!) show-offs duked it out for this week’s spoils with their impressive 30 points-plus totals (yep, even Frankie F carried along in the point fest!).

John D smashed home a 40-point weekend, Dan W grabbed a brace of  8 pointers on the way to 43 points and Jason M, forever the cream of The Syndicate, matched that, and threw in 2 x  5 point games to land 45 points!

All very nip & tuck and dive & duck, but lurking in the background, despite his lowly dwellings this season, we had a player who started Week 9 with a correct score just like me…

And just look how that similarity ended.

John Nunns 54 (9) has a furious flurry of bonus point scoring to thank for his pocketing of Week 9’s £20.

Two three-nils, one 4-0, and that 3-2 featured alongside a real Super Sunday of FIVE correct scores – whoo, and, yeah!

Bravo John, onwards & upwards, eh?!

Flag Day”:

So if it’s “tuff at the top”, can you imagine what it’s like at the bottom?!

Safe to say, this is not in my imagination…

Three(!) got 15 points or less this week, with bros Fernandez taking up 2/3rds of that particular pathetic pie.

Predictz 12 (0) not only failed to get a correct score, but had the ignominy of their profession finishing behind, ahem, us amateurs…

Tough.

Correct Score of the Week:

Pfffffttttttt…most popular score was Palace’s 2-1 win over Leeds– 34 of youse got that!

Twenty eight got the very annoying last minute spoiling Chelsea 3 Wolves o (YES!! I had 2-0…)

18 had Rangers’ merciless deconstruction of St Mirren

Eighteen more doffed a cap to Citeh’s 4-0 deconstruction of Southampton (YES!! I had 3-0…)

12 lapped up the injury time joy of West Ham 3 Fulham 1 (YES!! I had 2-1…)

Ten(!) thrilled at the thrilling Arsenal 3 Liverpool 2 (YES!! Just, YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!)

5 got Kilmarnock’s “Desmond” with Hearts

Five more got Blackburn 3 Rotherham 0

Neil T, Alex R & Luke S turned up WBA 0 Luton 0. Then sobbed a little bit as they thought of poor Steve Bruce…

Stuart F nabbed the form book upsetting, Bradford 0 Stockport 1

Matthew M saw his typo come good on the game at Livingston

Debbie L had Stoke’s 3-1 win over Sheff Utd

Darren McC was grateful for the 3-1 Blackpool win over Watford

Greg F believed in Brum. A 3-0 kinda belief…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Debbie Lee for her I-knew-one-goal-was-bigger-than-the-other inspired, Wigan 1 Cardiff 3!

Bet of the Week:

Lee Taylor was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 8 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

It was a no show….

So, £3 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th– up & running at least!

Ben McKeown is at 33rd this week…

Benjamin, I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Saturday lunchtime, please!

We need to notch. Are the Blaydon Races on?!

Table News:

Caravan of Love”:  Dan Wayman stays top, now 13 points ahead of Scott H who, in turn, is three correct scores ahead of Jason M in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Think For A Minute”:  Matthew Murphy stays bottom, now only two points behind Dan M who, in turn, is 4 points off Pete C…

Five Get Over Excited”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 43 places is John Nunns – honourable mentions go to Neil O (+28), John D (+28), Chris D (+26), and Alex R (+24)

Sheep: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 28 places is Predictz – dishonourable mentions go to Julian F (-19), John K (-19), Luke S (-18), Mark S (-18), Gareth M (-16), Peter M (-16), Paul F (-16), and Paul C (-16)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 8 round up

“Scary monsters…”

Info Freako”:

Oooooh the heady heights of four correct scores had me wondering “just maybe” –  just like Man Yoo at 13.59 on Sunday…

Could it happen?! Will I get the chance to shine, banish my self doubt and silence the haters, the cynics, the critics?

Nah.

Like them, it was a cursory cameo, when what was required was something spectacular… like a Larry Blackmon codpiece (see what I did there?!)

Anyway…

At least four punters put me in my proper place, cocking a snook with their 3o plus point tallies.

But, one person clocked up forty points this week!

Aberdeen 4-1, an inevitable PNE shut out and that Granit Xhaka goal all added up to a convincing victory.

Paul Carter 40 (5) swooped in like Scaramouch & Bowen preying on a shot (shy) Wolves to snatch up this week’s £20 prize  – Magnifico!

Bonzer! Flaming galahs! Neighbours! Schooners! Crocodile Dundee! Nuns In A Scrum! Kylie! Prawns on a bar-b! “Bowling, Shane” etc etc…

Never Enough”:

Loads of 15 points or less scores this week – twenty three in fact!

It was looking a lot like Pete C & Ryan G hand in hand in the corridor of uncertainty, heading for the long walk of weekly shame (it takes 7 days apparently)…

But their dual blushes were spared as newbie Paul Flaherty 10 (0) strolled in with some “the honeymoon’s over” form to plough that furrow on his ownsome.

Howay, man!

Correct Score of the Week:

Yesssssssss…most popular score was Chelsea’s 1-2 win at Paliss (still love you Conor!) – 28 of us got that!

Eight revelled in the schadenfreude of Arsenal’s superb derby win

7 got the dull-all not at Deepdale, but at the Stadium of Light

Five lapped up the injury time joy of Reading 3 Huddersfield 1

Neil T, Hira y & Orla McK thrilled at the thrilling Burton Albion 3 Forest Green Rovers 2

Dave N & Dom W celebrated the bore draw between Bournemouth & Brentford

Sam O turned up Leeds 0 Villa 0. Then sobbed a little bit as he thought of those poor souls who were actually there…

Paul C quite rightly predicted Aberdeen’s 4-1 thrashing of Kilmarnock

However, this week’s best correct score goes to ME! for my it’s-my-ball-and-i’ll-go-in-if-you-don’t let-me inspired, Celtic 2 Motherwell 1!

Bet of the Week:

Peter Morley was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 7 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He stuck with the horses and we won again!

Rohaan @ Ascot 3pm – won

Mellow Yellow @ Newmarket 4.27pm – didn’t win

Alpinissta @ Longchamps 3.05pm – won!

So, £11 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th– taking it to a handsome £34.85 – wow!

Lee Taylor is at 45th this week…

Mr T , I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Saturday lunchtime, please!

We’re on a roll!

Table News:

Right Here, Right Now”:  Dan Wayman moves up 3 places to the top of the tree, 1 point ahead of Charlie H who, in turn, is one point ahead of Scott H in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Bring It On Down”:  Matthew Murphy stays bottom, now seven points behind Dan M who, in turn, is 1 point off Patricia F…

International Bright Young Thing”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 43 places is Paul Carter – honourable mentions go to Tim P (+25), Rowan M (+15), John K (+29), Orla McK (+18), and Paul H (+16)

Real Real Real”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 20 places is Ryan Graves – dishonourable mentions go to Simon T (-15), Kate S (-18), John N (-17), Lee T (-15), Rob C (-15), and Paul F (-16)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 7 round up

“Kwasi times we live in…”

Flourescent Adolescent”:

Away from the libertarianism, ’twas a thrilling week so it ’twas (no, I don’t know why i’m speaking like that either…) and most thrilled was li’l Lily Templeton 36 (6) who just sneaked past the unlucky Neil M & Debbie L to lay claim to this week’s £20.

Quite how she managed it is beyond me. It was courtesy of one & two correct scores respectively, but the maths scrambled my brain. And as you’ll see below, my (football) brain has deserted me, and then some…

Let’s just say it was England losing 1-0 in Italy.

Enough to please most of Ireland to be fair…

So well done Lily, you’re definitely your mother’s daughter!

Are you going to pay for your dad’s ticket to the upcoming beabadoobee gig @ Ulster Hall?!

Oh, and only 10 bods managed 30 points or more this week. Eeek!

505”:

If you’re one of the ten who got fifteen points or less this week, this is going to hurt you!

Dan Miller, Mike Krasnowski & Paul Carter 10 (0) must be in stitches…

Oh, and four “players” didn’t notch a correct score. Ouch!

Correct Score of the Week:

What am I going to do?…most popular score was Scotland’s last minute 2-1 win over Ireland – 25 of youse got that!

Twenty one had Sheff Wed’s 3-1 win over Wycombe

15 were well away with the 0-4 away win for Estonia in San Marino

Rich L & Will O got Azerbaijan 3 Kazakhstan 0 (you try typing that right first time!)

Reagon K just knew the Netherlands would keep a clean sheet for a 1-0 v Belgium

Luke S nabbed the ridiculous form book upsetting Cyprus 1 Greece 0

Chris D was well away with the 0-1 away win for Poland in Wales

Debbie L thanked the Lord for Ireland’s Robbie Brady’s 91st minute penalty for a 3-2 v Armenia (who needs Grealish & Rice, eh?!)

However, this week’s best correct score, and new Correct Score of the Season, goes to Pete Clarke for his I-did-this-for-a-laugh-and-the-goats inspired, Faroe Islands 2 Turkey 1!

Bet of the Week:

Patricia Fernandez was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 6 so we asked her to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Whooo yeah baby!

Three each-way gee-gees from Saturday’s racing and we were soooo close to full house…

Persian Force@Newmarket 3pm – placed!

Dancinginthewoods@Haydock 3.15pm – missed a place by a length!

Sunset@Curragh 3.20pm – placed!

So, £3.80 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd bringing it up to £5.31 – encouraging…

Peter Morley is at 60th this week

Pete, I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Saturday lunchtime, please!

Can you add to the bumper haul already on there?!

Table News:

A Certain Romance”:  Charlie Harris stays out in front, now 7 points ahead of Scott H who, in turn, is one point ahead of Simon B in third.

Two crashed the Top Ten.

From The Ritz To The Rubble”:  Matthew Murphy remains bottom, three points behind John J who, in turn, is 1 point off….ME!!!

I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 36 places is Lily Templeton – honourable mentions go to Neil M(+26), Debbie L (+24), Tony M (+24), Tim P (+22), and John K (+21)

Why’d You Only Call Me When You’re High”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 30 places are Paul Carter & Orla McKeown – dishonourable mentions go to Mike K (-23), Matthew S (-22), Martin S (-22), and Julian F (-21)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 6 round up

“700 beers, bro…”

Chocolate Girl”:

In what turned out to be a peach of a week for most with outstanding correct scores, only ten bods clocked up 30 points or more.

Wunderkind, Max M, did his bestest to claim the week’s win (again!) but fell short to a resurgent Scott H. Scott was probably counting the number of bars on his heater he could put on with his bounty, when up popped Predictz 41 (8) to take the spoils and snatch the £20.

The usually predictable “not very good at predicting” website we use as a barometer finally had something to crow about…three of their 6 correct scores were five pointers!

So, as many of you know, any “not real person” winner donates their winnings to charity…Alex R & Rowan M will be glad to hear our homeless mate in St Anne’s Square is still about and keeping his head above water and was a very happy recipient this afternoon.

“It gives me a sense of enormous well-being and then I’m happy for the rest of the day, safe in the knowledge there will always be a bit of PAS devoted to him…” <smiley emoji>

Dignity”:

A crippling week for some, especially the 13 of us who scored no more than 15 points.

Two didn’t manage a single correct score.

In what turned out to be a mournful week for most, imagine if you went from Week 1 hero to Week 6 zero??! Imagine if that was you, Hira Yonzan 12(0)!

Well, it was you H… <Miguel Almiron’s face shocked emoji>

Correct Score of the Week:

I’m done…most popular score was Man City’s 0-3 win at Wolves– 30(!) of youse got that!

Seventeen said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for their Northampton 3 Rochdale 0

14 snaffled up the 5 points served up by Watford & Sunderland

Thirteen we’re so happy for Sheffield Wednesday 2-2 Ipswich Town, they will actually wear that ballet dress…

5 had their secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at St Andrew’s

Five more turned up St Johnstone 0 Ross County 0. Then sobbed a little bit as they thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Another 5 were grateful for the 3-1 Hibees win over Aberdeen

Olly O, Paul C & Max M celebrated the bore draw between Stockport & Harrogate Town

Danny B, Kate S & Luke S got the dull-all at The Riverside

Reagon K & Orla McK revelled in the schadenfreude of Arsenal’s 0-3 win at  Ivan Toney’s Brentford

Orla McK (again!) celebrated like Walsall at Highbury in ’83 after that 0-3 Motherwell v Hearts

David G decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards at QPR. And he did…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Ben Mckeown for his I-always-loved-Wor-Mitro inspired, Nottm Forest 2 Fulham 3!

Bet of the Week:

Pete Britton was on “Bet of the Week” position 33rd in Week 4 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

We stumbled and fell…

“I’ll go for three draws this week…”

Everton v West Ham – nope

Wigan v Reading – nope

Sheffield Wednesday v Ipswich – yup, just…

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 33rd  – ugghhhh

Pete Clarke, Patricia Fernandez & John King are at 83rd this week – Mrs F was first out the hat, so…

Mum!, I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Saturday lunchtime, please!

This is gonna be good!

Table News:

Real Gone Kid”:  Charlie Harris moves up 1 place to the summit, 2 points ahead of Max M who, in turn, is two points ahead of Hira Y in third.

Two crashed the Top Ten.

Fergus Sings The Blues”:  Matthew Murphy remains rock bottom, now four points behind John J who, in turn, is 5 points off Eddie O…

Loaded”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 48 places is Predictz – honourable mentions go to John N (+26), Paul C (+23), Ben McK (+22), Dave C (+29), Darren McC (+31), and Dom W (+21)

Raintown”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 25 places are Shashi Arora & Justin Corliss – dishonourable mentions go to Mark J B (-20), Andy F (-23), Will O (-22), Rowan M (-23), and Andy C (-22)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 4 round up

“we know Martin, we know…wicked top though mate!”

Moonrise”:

I’ll get this out the way early doors – it was a robbery of a weekend! There, said it. Breathe now Geordies and Hammers…

Anyway, one person who was all about nicking a win this week was Stephen P – he smashed in two injury time correct score predictions and the only “feasible” 5 pointer bore draw!

But was it enough?

Well, no. Obv.

Only a select quartet scored 30 points or more this week and coming out toppermost was beaming newcomer, Max Morgan 36 (7)!

Pipping Stevie P by 4 points, young Max has West Brom’s 98th(!) minute equaliser on Friday to thank for the £20 weekly prize!

Well done Max – are you going to give your “score” to your dad so he can get a Richarlson “doo”!    : )

Vacationer”:

A crippling week for some, especially the 28 of us who scored no more than 15 points.

Twelve didn’t manage a single correct score.

Kate S & Emma T flopped with 8 (0)

Alex R & John D drooped to 8 (0) as well.

But David Goggin 7 (0) was most deflated this week as he props up the baddest of a bad bunch.

VAR, David?

Correct Score of the Week:

Hmmmppphhh…most popular score was Chelsea’s 2-1 win over West Ham– 24 of youse got that!

Eighteen got Norwich’s 3 goal demolition of Coventry (yessssssssssssss, of course I had four…)

Darren McC & John K  doffed a cap to St Johnstone’s 3-0 deconstruction of St Mirren

Stephen P & Frankie F turned up Motherwell 0 Dundee Utd 0. Then sobbed a little bit as they thought of those poor souls who were actually there.

Mark J B nabbed the form book upsetting, record busting, PNE 0 Birmingham 1

Sam O decided to deploy catenaccio to reap the rewards at Newcastle. And he did…

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Sam Arora for his yes!-Bristol-City-ALWAYS-concede-in-the-last-minute-except-when-Pab-wants-them-to-inspired, Blackburn 2 Bristol City 3!

Bet of the Week:

Orla McKeown was on “Bet of the Week” position 45th in Week 3 so we asked her to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Our first fail of the season…

“She’s very much her own person so she’s gone with a derby, away win weekend special…two prods and a lapsed Catholic (possibly open for much debate!).”

But fair play to her sticking to her guns and ignoring “belief” bias – and we salute that…unless you want to win of course!

Rangers @ Celtic – sorry hun, not this time

Liverpool @ Everton – a bluenose shut out

Sunderland @ Boro  – smog on the tyne tees was all fine, unfortunately

So, £0 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 45th  – ahhh, well…

Sam Arora & Pete Britton are at 33rd this week – Pete was first out the hat, so…

Mr “Dream Team”, I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Saturday lunchtime, please!

Can you get us back on track?

Table News:

Slow Drive”:  Hira Yonzan moves up 2 places to the top, 11 points(!) ahead of Charlie H who, in turn, is two points ahead of Paul F in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Cloud Watching”:  Matthew Murphy is still in the basement slot, now five points behind Eddie O who, in turn, is 1 point off John J…

Meteorites”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 37 places is Max Morgan – honourable mentions go to Stephen P (+36), Debbie L (+29), Lee T (+27), Damian H (+30), and Norman L (+26)

Falling”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 39 places is Alex Rossi – dishonourable mentions go to John N (-27), David G (-25), Kate S (-35), and Dave N (-28)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 3 round up

“Hahaha, look! She’s put 0-9 for Celtic..”

Golden”:

There’ll be dancing on the streets of Tarragona, Catalonia this week! Not because the PAS Board synchronised holidays are going as expected, awash with local “refreshments” (my God, Mythos tastes good here!), more cos the pre-season memo to the Board to “actually bother doing your scores as we are like our public” appears to be paying off. And some!

Dave Nicklin 37 (5) managed to tear himself away from the brandy horchatas & “Crocodile Shoes” on the karaoke to put in 30 predictions that just edged out ex-League Champion & What’s App group agitator, Charlie H and the other 11 bods who racked up 30 points or more this week.

Congrats pet, £20 towards that (questionable) away kit for the bairn?!

Two Ghosts”:

Really really not the week to lose ground! So not getting more than 15 points was always gonna put a real dampener on proceedings for those sixteen PASers who did just that this week…

Twelve didn’t manage a correct score either.

Peter M really should be in your thoughts though as he managed 19 points without a correct score – ouch!

However, this week’s duffers are Anders Hoglund & Lee Ford 12 (0) – actually, not that bad considering lads!

Correct Score of the Week:

If I wasn’t laying in the sun, I’d be in abject misery…most popular score was Rangers’ 4-0 win over Ross County– 22 (!) of youse got that!

Fourteen celebrated the bore draw between Cardiff and Preston

4 nailed Huddersfield 2 WBA 2

Four more somehow stumbled on Man City 4 Palace 2 (how????)

Dave N & Dan H, ahem, DEFINITELY didn’t tinker with the PAS timelapse cog in the backend to waltz off with Hearts 3 St Johnstone 2

Charlie H got the no favours to the away contingent 0-1 Reading win at ‘Wall

Greg F just knew Stoke would keep a clean sheet for a o-1 at Blackburn

Greg F (again!) said “Look at me! Yes! Me!” for his Watford 2 QPR 3

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Rowan Marriott for his now-I-have-5-minutes-to-myself–I-can-predict-properly inspired, Hull 3 Coventry 2!

Bet of the Week:

Richard Hirst was on “Bet of the Week” position 60th in Week 2 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

Tricky went for the tricky selections we love here, and…

Get in my son!

“Burnley to win at Wigan” – tick

“Portsmouth to win at Port Vale” – tick

“Salford to beat Stevenage” – boom!!

So, £? goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 60th  – I can’t access my betting site of choice here in Crete so I’ll confirm the amount when I’m back! It’s good though…

Orla McKeown is at 45th this week….

Miss McKeown, I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Saturday lunchtime, please! (but don’t include any Friday games!). Oh, and ask you dad if you’re allowed first!!

Tough act to follow young lady…good luck!

Table News:

Lights Up”:  Charlie Harris moves up 4 places to the top, 3 points ahead of Paul F who, in turn, is one correct score ahead of Hira Y in third.

Three crashed the Top Ten.

Sign Of The Times”:  Eddie Osborne is still rooted to the bottom, but now joined by Matthew Murphy, and they are five points off John J…

Fine Line”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 58 places is Dave Nicklin – honourable mentions go to Martin S (+47), Pete B (+46), Matt W (+39), Matthew S (+39), and Kate S (+34)

Falling”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 39 places is Lily Templeton – dishonourable mentions go to Dom W (-36), Stephen P (-36), Jamie S (-34), Lee F (-32), and Ryan G (-30)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 2 round up

Yes mate! Exactly what we think of non-PAsers…

Golden”:

So many sob stories out there this week – “I got the most results right this week without a single correct score – waaaaaah!” & “I hate PAS” & “the week I don’t leave it to Mr 2-0 and look what happens…” were just a few.

If you were part of our ever entertaining What’s App group, you’d be all too familiar with woes of “unnecessary (usually last minute) goals” etc. too…

But before you (we, actually) feel sorry for yourself though, be aware only 27 people scored more than 20 points in Week 2…yep, silver linings n all that.

Anyway,

Only one of our parish scored 30 points or more.  * gritted teeth emoji *

Any significant challengers?

Paul F was an inspired newbie, The Hogwoods pushed on en masse, The King flirted with the weekly prize, Paul V used his Super 6 as a springboard, Sam O led the Under-5s charge and Ben McK must have thought it was all on after “Wor Mitro” monstered a last minute header for a bumper 9 pointer!

However, after smashing in a 2-0 at Ashton Gate where I was confidently, patiently awaiting a 2-1 (Bristol City ALWAYS concede in the last minute!!!), Ric Pardoe 33 (6) sneaked away with the £20 prize all thanks to not actually predicting 3 of Sunday’s games and the aforementioned default score seeing him over the line…

Congrats Ricardo, going with your head rather than heart on the Stockport game really paid off too mate!

You Got Me”:

Gawd! A raft of casualties this week…actually, it was complete carnage.

Thirty two punters failed to reach the 15 points mark.

Thirteen (!) didn’t register a correct score.   * Miguel Almiron emoji *

A Famous Five didn’t make double figures (Timmy did though!)

Martin Stafford 7 (0) magnanimously spared the blushes of the other four by literally being on the beach on his jollies without a (PAS) care in the world…

At least you’re above the scousers now though Mr S…

Correct Score of the Week:

Wow…most popular score was Everton’s 1-1 draw with Nottm Forest– 17 of youse got that!

Sixteen were well away with the 0-3 away win for Arsenal

5 saw their typos come good on the game at Old Trafford

Five more got the dull-all at Deepdale

4 lapped up the injury time joy of Fulham 3 Brentford 2

Anders H, Darren McC & my Mum thrilled at the thrilling Palace 3 Villa 1

Mike K & Orla McK (welcome!) landed on the two-two in Edinburgh. The right side of Edinburgh…

Sam O got the 0-2 Seagulls win over West Ham

Ben H was all over the Green nil-three to Plymouth at The New Lawn Stadium

However, this week’s best correct score goes to Justin Corliss for his I-love-a-greasy-chip-butty inspired, Sheffield Utd 3 Blackburn 0!

Bet of the Week:

Dan Clarke was on “Bet of the Week” position 83rd in Week 1 so we asked him to provide a treble selection for the £3 “trixie” bet.

And guess what?!

He went for a Friday night dinner, and…

Yes!

“Monchengladbach to beat Hertha Berlin- aaaahhhhhh, yes

Lyon to beat Troyes – aaaahhhhhhhh, yes

Millwall to draw at Norwich” – ooooooh, no

So, £1.51 goes on “Bet of the Week” slot 83rd  – it’s a start!

Richard Hirst is at 60th this week….

Tricky, I need your 3 choices for a trixie by Friday lunchtime, please!

They can be any choice you want btw – BTTS? Goalscorers? A mixture??!

They don’t even have to be football! Horses? American Football? Golf?? Strictly??! Actually…

Table News:

Hate On Me”:  Hira Yonzan stays top 2 points ahead of Andy K who, in turn, is five points ahead of debutant Paul F in third.

Five crashed the Top Ten.

A Long Walk”:  Ooops! Eddie Osborne remains bottom of the pile four points behind Chris D who, in turn, is 1 point off Damian H…

The Way”:  Highest climber this week, up a whopping 54 places is Ric Pardoe – honourable mentions go to Ben McK (+44), Jack B (+38), Ben H (+28), Dom W (+22), Rowan M (+24), Jazz S (+44), Rob C (+28), Nick H (+33), Luke S (+31), John K (+24), Julian F (+20) and Mr 2-0 (+26)

Gettin’ In The Way”: Falling furthest this week, down a whopping 47 places is Martin Stafford – dishonourable mentions go to Dave N (-38), Pete B (-38), John D (-41), Dan M (-45), Samantha R (-30), Matthew S (-25), Predictz (-33, Richard H (-26), Gareth M (-25), Simon Lindq (-24), Lee F (-24), George T (-30) and Scott H (-25)

PAS Lucky 13 Winter ’22 Week 1 round up

This canary avoided the coalmine last season…can you take his crown?

Xanadu:

We’re back! With a bang!

No, not Arsenal – PAS!

Given the quick smart sharpness of this update, I could’ve waxed lyrical about “trusting the process”, that handshake, the genius of Paddy Vieira and then gone deep into the absurdness of that “offside” rule…

But I won’t.

I’ll cut to the chase as it was all about the “The Seven” this week – and we had a right ol’ ding dong for top spot in Week 1!

One Man Yoo fan quite clearly not following “The Ten (Hag)” dictum this weekend was Hira Yonzan 45 (7) who had a London injury time double (Dieng 92′ & Kane 96′) to thank for 10 points that looked to have gone…and then won him the weekly prize!

Spare a thought for Andy K who got very close after getting off to a flyer on Saturday morning, but then Sunday didn’t shine…

So, congrats Mr Y, £20 winging its way back to you ASAP – should secure you one of those “Glazers Out” banners  *cheesy grin emoji*

Don’t Stop Believin’:

Did you score 30 points + this week? Wow, we’re in awe…

Twenty-one of you managed that, but 12 punters couldn’t manage more than 15 points this week  – and ten couldn’t muster a correct score!

Shocking.

Not as shocking as not hitting double digits though, right?

Ahem…

Three unfortunates managed this abject achievement but it’s Eddie Osborne  7 (0),  who finds himself in the wooden spoon slot on the opening week…

‘Ed up son!

Correct Score of the Week:

I want to howl at the moon…most popular score was Man City’s 4-0 drubbing of AFC Bournemouth– 34(!) of youse got that!

Seventeen felt Fergie vibes when that Harry Kane 96th minute goal secured a 5 pointer 2-2 at Chelsea

11 got QPR’s late “Desmond” with Sunderland

Eleven more quite rightly predicted the Teddy Bears’ 4-0 thrashing of St Johnstone

8 nailed Middlesbrough 2 Sheff Utd 2

Six snaffled up the 5 points served up by Southampton & Leeds

4 had their secret prayers answered by the “Saints of Nil” for the stalemate at Molineux

Rob C & Lisa W (welcome!) somehow stumbled on Liverpool 1 Palace 1 (how????)

Anders H & Danny B (welcome back!) had Huddersfield’s 3-1 win over Stoke

Sam A doffed a cap to Celtic’s 0-5 deconstruction of Kilmarnock

However, this week’s best correct score, and current Correct Score of the Season, goes to Greg Fleming for his I-used-to-frequent-the-Den-and-you-don’t-want-to-go-two-up-there inspired, Millwall 3 Coventry 2!

Bet of the Week:

So, we’ve failed quite spectacularly in the last few seasons on this – actually, we’ve always failed.

But last season, we did alright. Welllllll, alright(ish)…

So!

We’re being brave and we’re gonna stick with it to see how we go!

How?

Whoever is on the “Bet of the Week” position for the following week will be asked to provide a treble selection so we can place the allocated £3 for the bet.

The winnings will stay on that slot and collected by the lucky person residing there at the end of Week 13.

Got that? No?!

OK…

The person on 83rd will make the selections for Week 2, the person on 60th in Week 2 will make the selections for Week 3,the person on 45th in Week 3 will make the selections for Week 4 and the person on 33rd in Week 4 will make the selections for Week 5 and back round again to 83rd…yeah?!

Good.

So, Dan Clarke is first up.

Danielsan, I need your 3 selections by Friday please! It can be homes, aways or draws. It doesn’t have to be football! It can be horses! Or dogs! Or fighting crickets! But not cricket…that’s a step too far!

Let’s get off to a winning start for a change.

No pressure mate…

Table News:

It’s Week 1 – it is what it is! Click here for the full table

Please be aware we lost quite a few players but we can still gain some more (thanks to those of you who recruited the newbies this season – love youse!) – so if you know anyone out there who wants to get involved, put them in touch!

It’s never too late…they’ll get a, ahem<cough>, respectable Mr 2-0 17 pts for Week 1 to boot!

PAS Lucky 13 Spring ’22 final table round up

“Colleen”:

So, who won?

Well…a PAS stalwart who has, let’s say, been very much in the shadows since his PAS Cup & PAS World Cup victories back in the day (we won’t mention the “spoon”). One who obviously took it upon himself to be more like 2005 Delia rather than Daniel 2022…and my, how that decision has paid off!

He let his “this-is-how-to-win-a-league-title” weekly performances do the talking for him “on the pitch” as he’s yet to get involved on our What’s App group (tbf, he does run a very readable music “blog” so probably waaay too busy…) and give it some stink eye to The Arse like is the want of everyone on there <rolls eyes>

It was really close, compacted, Covid-free (sort’ve) unfathomable collection of results type of season – whilst Man City just got over the line to the title (CL qualification is overrated btw…) with drama & consistency in the (non) real world, our champion pretty much sung the same (Spursy) tune of “them lot” to his own victory!

A few players kinda threatened to win it, but…

To be honest, it was a case of slowly slowly catchy monkey…and when he was caught, he was held in a vice like grip!

Our “Spring” champ started the season at a CL qualifying comfy 30th, then dropped(!) to 33rd, then climbed to 25th in Week 3.

Week 4 he was knocking on the Top Ten door in 11th only to have it slammed in his face, jettisoned to a season low 34th spot. Blimey…

The climb began again, going up to 27th in Week 5 and then back up to 11th the week after.

This time the door opened, and he swept into 2nd before dropping back to 4th in Week 9

Week 10 saw the rise to the summit. And there he stayed, doggedly keeping all challengers at bay to take the title

Mustard!

So, be upstanding lords, ladies & gents and doff your caps to Ben Hogwood 354 (48) – He. Is. A. Winner!

Bravo Benjamin – Jeremy Goss, Steven Fry, Olivia Coleman, Cathy Dennis and Kevin Keelan have all sent telegrams of congratulations…

Uncle Ben won by a comfortable 7 points from the omnipresent Pete Brittonin second place.

And he finished two points ahead of a fabulous debut from John Nunns in third spot.

Neil Meredith was a further 1 point behind in the not too shabby 4th berth, with Andy Fowler 3 points shy in 5th, both proudly flying the “Top Scouse Season, Red or Blue” banner together for once…  : )

Just two points further back, Anders Hoglund can reflect on a rare season at such great heights finishing in sixth spot – and keeping it Swedish, Simon Lindquist followed up in 7th just another 1 point behind.

In eighth place (only 2 points back) was “First Lady” Kate Slee, further endorsing & repping “Girl Power!”.

Dan Wayman was another three points behind in 9th.

And not unlike Citeh, Andy Chesworth just edged out PAS Old skooler Jamie Sellers courtesy of a correct score in 10th…a most excellent season Andrew!

“Rebekah”:

Only 14 points, but 44 places, separated our new champion from Patricia Fernandez 220 (19) in Week 1!

Starting in 74th, my mum never really recovered.

Like a model run to wooden spoon legend, it was then to 78th, next down to 84th, down again to 87th then the final drop to 9oth in Week 5!

And there she stayed, peering up to (but not quite getting on the tails of) the likes of Tim P, grandson Greg F, Will O and Joanne McK…

Week 12 saw a sliver of hope when she climbed to 88th and left a fighting chance to NOT collect the spoon!

And then, the final fall…securing the wooden spoon for an unprecedented third time.

What was that?

Yes.

The Board will commission a gold spoon to mark this historic occasion!

Spot Prizers

Plaudits

Thanks again to all for taking time and bothering to play, we couldn’t do it without you!

And a final big thank you to Dave N Dan H for providing all the behind the scenes techky stuff to enable another great (relatively glitch free!) season…

See you in August PASers.

Cheers, and enjoy your summer…

But remember, it’s a World Cup Christmas!

Cheers,

Pab
