L13 Winter 2005 : Week 13 – Final Review

Super Cally:
I won! I won! I won! I woooooooonnnnnnnnn! 30(5)Gedddddinnnnnn! Ahem. Sorry. The weekly win has taken me back from the dark-side where I was planning to do an Arfur Fowler and steal the Christmas money cos I can’t nick from meself can I?! Chelle, Christmas is back on luv, and you’ll be getting a pressie!
Gooner Title Hopes:
If getting the highest score is best in the last week, then getting the lowest is the worst. Joanne Gracie & Jazz Sian your 11(0) has cost you both dear I’m afraid to say!
Correct Score of the Week:
Would you Adam n Believe it?! Gary Blackburne has been in sparkling form the last few weeks and pulled out a plum with Boro 3 Spurs 3 for a massive 10 pointer that really helped consolidate his Top 10 finish AND he takes the “Best Correct Score of the Season” title too! Olly O was unlucky with his Norwich 3 Soton 1 scoreline….
Bet of the Week:
Nothing from Jazz S this week and just as well eh???! If you followed all the tips this season you would be around £50 up – not bad considering every other time we’ve tried this people have had to declare bankruptcy… Well done to all weekly winners.Tick. 9/10.
2005 Top 5’s etc:
We’ve had a great response to this and I shall publish the findings when I’m skiving at work in between Chrimbo and the New Year – thanks for all those who contributed!

Week 13 – The Final

OK, so the nerves were jangling and the Top 3 could only manage 37 points between them! However, Clare Nevin did enough to hold on and is deservedly crowned Champion for Winter 2005 – well done Clare, not only your debut but your the first girl to take the title – big up! Finishing fast and eight points behind in second was Dan Bushell who took full advantage of the blips, as did Stephen Peaston in third just one point behind.Special mention to Dan B who clocked up an impressive 52 correct scores and in PAS, that’s what you’re in it for! John Williamson slipped back to fourth after his worst score of the campaign and Neil Templeton made in Norn Ireland Top Ten (and household) double in 5th. Gary Blackburne has grabbed another £55 pounds in 6th to add to his winnings in Weeks 10 & 11 (and he’s got another fiver for the Best Correct Score). Simon Lindquist dropped one place to 7th and Matt “Stewards Enquiry” Worsfold held on to 8th place. I made my first appearance in the Top Ten at just the right time in 9th and Jazz Sian can take a crumb of consolation finishing in 10th spot after falling 7 places.

Elsewhere, Karl Chartres finally wins some money after seasons of trying by picking up the Spot Prize on 17th, Michelle “it’s a fix” Fernandez will hopefully by me a pressie with her earnings from Spot Prize 27th place and the man who only handed in 2 scoresheets all season justifies his apathy by scooping up the Spot Prize on number 42. Yes, you better read this Damian Duffy and claim your prize, otherwise I’m keeping it! Mr Kim Anthon finishes with the wooden spoon (and you do get one!) 10 points adrift of Ben McK.

Now for the real drama! As you’ve been aware all season, the aim was to finish in the Top 32 to qualify for the Cup competition next year (more on that below). It came down the correct scores in the end as 3 people finished on 278 points. Spare a thought for Danny A and more so, Joanne G who were ousted out by 2 and 1 correct scores respectively by Ahmed Amin, whose 37 correct scores saw him through – phew!

So thank-you all again for making this happen by taking part, getting your cheques in on time and submitting scores. An even bigger thank-you once again to Dave Nicklin who has made the administration here at PAS Towers 4 million percent easier with his IT magic (Dave has been made Honorary Board member and therefore is immune from not qualifying for any PAS competition).

Top 32 people you will be invited in due time to take part in next years PAS Spring season and Cup competition – those of you in the wilderness, I shall be in touch when we get to next September and start all over again although I may open up the Word Cup special to all comers (watch this space). If you finished just outside the 32, it’s not necessarily all over yet as some people may drop out and you’re next in the pecking order to be invited and step up. Better go now – prize winners will have their accounts credited this week or have a cheque put in the post…

Cheers – For-ca PAS!
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 13 – Update…

Well, I may have seen Arsenal’s title hopes finally ended by those horrible, but rather good, West London rent boys and witnessed the normally clinical Jermain Defoe miss a sitter in the last few minutes to deny me £60 from the bookies, BUT any Coventry win, any draw or any QPR win (except 2-0 and 3-1) in Monday nights game will get me a £20 weekly win – luvvly!

2-0 will give to Neil T and 3-1, to his old mucker Olly O.

It’s all to play for in the prize positions as the top three are all currently having their worst week so far!

Bear with me for the final standings on Tuesday as it’s Christmas-parties-a-go-go and it may take me a few days to collate all the info and send it round – but it will be done before we break for Christmas.

As for next season’s PAS, it all kicks off with the Cup competition on weekend 6/7 January – so Top 32, be ready on your return to the office after Chrimbo!

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 13

No bet of the week from Jazz I’m afraid to report (obviously doesn’t want us to get a slice of money action – typical Sp*rs!)

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 12 – Roundup

’Appy ’Arry (Betfair sting):
As reported yesterday, any score bar 3-4 to Pompey would ensure Jazz Sian 38(6) his second weekly win of the season and continue his uncanny knack of winning money every season he’s been involved in PAS (do you know how much it hurts me giving Sp*rs fans our money??!). Well done Jazz, £20 to add to your PAS millions…
Un’appy ’Arry (Not fair penalty):
There’s never a good week to score the lowest, but getting the lowest score on the penultimate week is particularly not good. Mindy Norris 10(0) you should know better…
Correct Score Of The Week:
A handful got Sp*rs right and a trio got Sheff Utd’s 3-0. Clare N more or less cemented top slot with her Celtic 3-2 v Hibs, but this weeks correct score is MINE! Yep, I called Killy 2 Gers 3 and it’s taken a lo t not to take the “Best Correct Score of the Season” from Stephen “Toon” Peaston just out of spite. Grrrrr!
Bet Of The Week:
The Mackem was wrong and the Eagle was right – haven’t a clue what odds Toon were but I’m sure they we’re aggressive… if you’ve been following the tips you will be sitting pretty about £50-odd up. Up for the final week is Mr Sian and he owes us, doesn’t he kids?
Fairy:
With a 12 point buffer, Clare Nevin has it all to lose now in her bid to become “1st Girl Winner At A Football Game”. Male pride now rests on the shoulders of John W or a wonder week from those occupying 3rd to 6th place.
Bucket:
I’d like to say that a girl was propping up the table but Kim Anthon isn’t. A girl that is. Male pride now rests on the shoulders of Pam R who is falling fast and only 7 points from the wooden spoon slot.
Lights:
Highest climber is, surprise surprise, Jazz Sian, up 10 places to 3rd. Other over-acheivers of note are Neil T (+9) on 10th, Danny A (+8) on 32nd, Ahmed A (+7) on 34th and Jim B (+6) on 43rd.
Baubles:
Furthest faller is, surprise surprise, Mindy Norris, down 9 places to 38th. Other under-acheivers of note are Darryl M (-4) on 12th, Dan McG (-4) on 14th, Tapiwa M (-5) on 19th and Richard L (-5) on 26th.
Chocolate Prizes:
Karl C stays where he is on 17th, Jamie S (-2) on 27th and Damian D (+1) on 42nd. You need to finish next week where Danny A is at the moment (32nd), to qualify for an invitation to the Cup competition in 2006.

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 12 – Update…

If Pompey win, ahem, 3-4 tonight then my brother Julian F will take the weekly spoils – if they don’t then Jazz S will pick up his 2nd weekly prize of the season…

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 11 – Roundup

JCB Song:
As pointed out yesterday, a West Ham win gave Joanne Gracie & Gary Blackburne 43(6) a share of the spoils this week, so a tenner each to youse two. That should cheer up a sad Mackem (a bit) and get a few more Palace Private Bar premium lagers for the Eagle. Well done – the weeks conclusion hasn’t excited me as much since I heard the rumours Thierry was off to Barca and the Arse then might buy someone who can provide a “Plan B” option so we can compete against the likes of Bolton…
Chico Time:
More woe for the Wigan Manc – Martin Stafford limps in with a Pompey like 14(0).
Correct Score Of The Week:
If you didn’t get Man Yoo’s 3-0 your name is probably Martin or Jim or Mr 2-0…quite a few of you got Mansfield and Reading too, and a few less of us got the Celtic score right. Jazz S and Phil B got Coventry’s 3-1 v Plymouth. No one got Man City and if someone got Bolton, sorry, I didn’t bother to look… Stephen P still heads up the “Best Correct Score” with two weeks to run.
Bet Of The Week:
The rather “safe” (nee boring) single bet on Palace didn’t come off (I didn’t go near it, did you?) but if you have been following all the tips you’d still be about £60 up. Gary B gets to redeem himself and Joanne G can chip in too (will she back Sunderpants actually winning??!) for Week 12.
News:
Looks like the rules will have to revised for future seasons of PAS as we’ve had a few cases of “blanket scoring” occuring this season. The idea of this is to actual predict the scores based on knowledge, guessing, luck or in some cases, a pair of dice (or is that die?). Playing the “numbers game” is not in the spirit of the game and will eventually render it null and void if it’s not nipped in the bud – so there, you’ve been warned! Oh yeah, I’m back in the employed (real) world as of next week (14th) but I will continue to run PAS off this e-dress. However, I will probably send “reminders” from work so i will furnish you with my work e-dress as and when so I can build up a distribution list.
Top 5’s Of The Year:
Keep the lists for top 5 singles and albums coming in please, we’ve got a nice little range so far – final lists on Week 13

Week 11 Table

Clare N is still “Girl On Top” but her lead is now down to 7 points ahead of John W in second – big movers into the Top 10 are Gary B up 9 to 6th and Matt W up 9 to 7th. Highest climber is Joanne G up 11 places to 28th – biggest faller is Week 9 winner Olly O down 10 places to 39th – other fallers of note are Tapiwa M (down 9 to 14th)Wayne C (down 7 to 16th) and Dave N (down 7 to 34th) – Karl C holds his position on Spot Prize 17th, the missus is down 2 to Spot Prize 27th and Phil B is up 6 to Spot Prize 42nd – Fred R is down 4 places to the Cup Qualification place on 32nd…

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 11 – Update…

Four in the running for this weeks £20…

Week 10 winner Gary Blackburne needs any Brum win except 3-0 to land another weekly prize.

Joanne Gracie needs any West Ham win to share the weekly with Gary B and a 0-4 result to win it.

John McSherry needs a 1-1 draw to share the spoils with Gary B.

Matt Worsfold’s dubious blanket scoring could work for him if Birmingham win 3-0…

Later,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 11 – BotW

Up this week is Week 10 jammy g*t Gary “Palace” Blackburne…

£5 on the Palace @ around 8/13 should get you £8 in total back. It’s a no brainer against those schlags from down the road cos they’re two bob mate… down with the Brighton, you’re going down with the Brighton…

Personally I’d have put the money on AJ 1st scorer, but then what do I know…

Have a good weekend,
Pab.

Result: LOSE! -£5

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 11 – Festive 5’s

Festive 5’s

Keep the lists coming in (top 5 singles and top 5 albums of the year) – glad to see I’m not the only one rating the Girls Aloud single (pop genius), Bloc Party and Babyshambles

My selections in full next week… bet ya can’t wait!

Have a good weekend,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 10 – Roundup

Sorry it’s late (stuck in Gatwick last night cos MCR airport was closed…) – I’ll make it short and sweet…

Winner:
Gary Blackburne 38(6) wins a week after 15 years of trying! FYI – there were 135 pts up for grabs this week.
Loser:
Andy Bowkett 11 (1)
Bet of the Week:
Rubbish Olly!
Correct Score of the Week:
Nowt this week as two or more people got Arsenal, Burnley, Livingston and Hibs.

Briefly – you can work out your average score this week!

Top 4 are pulling away but a good 20 players still have a realistic chance of breaking the Top Ten…

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 9 – Roundup

Dougie Freedman:
Simon L and and Steve T will be cursing the fog at St Andrews as it robbed them of catching this weeks winner, Olly Osmond 41 (5). Well done Olly, gonna spend the twenty on voting for ya bruv in the jungle??!
Seaweed:
A week’s a long time in PAS eh? One week you win a weekly prize and the next you’re propping up the rest with a woeful score of 8(0). Yes, you Jamie Sellers – and you live in Brighton. Not a good weekend…
Correct Score of the Week:
Most Manc lovers came up trumps on the 1-3 at Charlton, loads got Reading, a choice few got Chelsea, a few more had Liverpool. Pam D and Matt W got Celtic and amazingly, Simon L AND Neil T got the famous Palace 2-3 win. Jazz S got Plymouth’s 3-1 but this weeks props go to Danny Bushell for his Boro 3 Fulham 2 (and I had 4-2, grrrrrr…)
Bet of the Week:
I think you can tell by Jamie’s score that his bet didn’t come in! Luckily I backed Wolves on Friday so made my money back! Next up giving us tips is Olly O.
News:
All scoresheets seemed to get thru ok, so that’s all good – quite a few of you didn’t bother this week though – don’t give up! You can still fluke a weekly even if you’re doing rubbish in the league!!

Week 9 table

Swiss:
Doubling her points lead at the top to twelve is Clare Nevin. Not sure if we’ve ever had a girl champion. Mindy N, can you confirm?
Turk:
He didn’t submit any scores this week and now Kim Anthon is three points from safety…
Aussies:
No surprises that Olly O is this weeks highest climber (+16), along for the rise up are Simon L (+8), Simon S (+8), Matt W (+10), Andy B (+10) and Danny A (+8)
Uruguayans:
No surprises that Jamie S is this weeks biggest faller (-12), along for the slip down are Ben H (-8), Me (-7), Tim B (-8), Ahmed A (-8), Neil B (-9) and Ben McK (-7)
Prize Places:
Simon S is up eight to 17th, Tim B is down eight to 27th,Mr 2-0 is down one to 42nd and Scott A is down six to 32nd – where you need to be come Week 13 to get an invite to the Cup comp in 2006.

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 9 – BotW

Bet Of The Week is from Week 8 winner and QPR man Jamie Sellers… after the last two weeks netting around £70 profit, he’s playing it safe to keep up the record (I say safe, he’s included Citeh…)

My bet this week is £5 on the following win treble – Man City, Sheff U and Watford

If that little lot comes in, should double your money.

Cheers, have a good weekend,
Pab.

Result: LOSE! -£5

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 8 – Roundup

Little Mickey:
Only a few weeks ago I got a complaint on how “lucky” other players must be cos they’re probably putting “5-2 down for everything…” Well, it just goes to show, if you can pick out the “traditional” scores you can win a week. Well done Jamie Sellers 43 (8), you’ll have someone sneering at you now! £20 to get that Bircham barnet perhaps?!
Taxi For Crespo:
And just to add weight to the arguement for putting some research into doing your scores, up rocks Pam Riding 9(0)
Correct Score of the Week:
Quite a few to be had this week (if predicted all 29 matches correctly, you would have amassed 172 points!). You have to feel for Gary B who had Brazil down for seven, and they got eight with a last minute goal. Chin up son! Popular “bonus” scores were Grimsby v Macc Town and Alloa v Morton. One person got Poland and that same person got the England score right too! Stephen Peaston is now in posession of the “Best Correct Score of the Season”. Some consolation for just missing out on the weekly prize I suppose…
Bet of the Week:
We missed out on about £50 last week via John W’s tips – we’re you on this week? You should have been! Clare N came up trumps (on both fronts if you swapped Bulgaria for Spain) despite Mexico v Chile not being played (does anyone know why? FYI – all scores were void on this game for PAS). Soooo, if you put a fiver on like my good self, you would have got back around £32.88. Nice one Clare – Jamie S you’ve got a tough act to follow mate…
News:
Still a few probs with the Guardian massive getting scores in – I can only suggest you send thru to the Gmail address as back up or start mailing back via your personal e-mail accounts. Dave N is working on it though and hopefully it will all be good very soon (i.e. if the G get a decent server..!) I’m off to Londinium this weekend so the last reminder you’ll get this week will be Friday morning – so don’t forget!

Week 8 table

Numero Uno :
She knows how to back a winner but Clare Nevin has now had her lead at the top cut to 4 points by Stephen P who is well clear in 2nd.
Middle Order :
Highest climber this week is Greg Edwards up 12 places to 30th. Honourable mentions to Jamie S (+10), Dan B (+7), Steve T (+7), Scott A (+7) and Ben McK (+8)
Tail Enders :
The big dropper this week is Dave Nicklin down 13 places to 27th. Dishonourable mentions to Neil B (-9), Simon S (-8), Olly O (-7) and Pam R (-9).
Last Man :
Only one point from avoiding embarassment now, Kim Anthon is hot on the heels of John McS and Jim B.
Spot Prizing:
Simon L at 17th (-5), Dave N at 27th (-13) and Phil B at 42nd (+2)
Cup Cut Off :
After Week 13 you need to be where Matt W (=) is at present on 32nd spot to be invited to play in the Cup 2006.

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 8 – BotW

After missing out on a winner last week (about £50 I reckon) it’s the turn of the Girl on Top, Clare Nevin…

Given that it’s taken me an eternity to complete this weeks score sheet, and I had to resort to looking up the FIFA international rankings on the Internet – (I am on the verge of failing to recognise myself since I started courting that Mr T) – I take no responsibility for any loss incurred as a result of this weeks bet, here we go… To win:Brazil, Poland, Bulgaria, Uruguay, Mexico

Clare has also pointed out you may have trouble getting odds for Bulgaria (Bet365 have got ’em all though) so if you can’t, stick Spain in instead – if that little lot comes in, you’re looking at around £50+ for a fiver – we can’t miss out again can we…!

And finally, we’ve several requests to resurrect the “Festive Fives” where you send in your Top 5 singles and albums of the year and we get a couple of charts for Week 13 so you see what your fellow PASers are listening to (and it’s a good source for those late late pressies!) So get thinking, compiling and sending – reasons why you like said tracks/albums will be useful too…

Cheers,
Pab.

Result: WIN!

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 7 – Update

Yep, well done all youse shrewd enough to mark your own scores cos you spotted th, umm, deliberate mistake this week. Fortunately it doesn’t affect the prize money…

You see, when you’ve nothing better to do all day except wonder where the next wage is coming from you get a bit slack… what happened was that I forgot to put in the Everton result (can’t believe how many of you had faith in that pub team!) and subsequently points were missing – don’t worry, all will be amended and updated “toot sweet” ready for this weeks action (have you seen the fixtures yet??? – ha ha!).

Apologies, but had Francky Q not hit the bar I would have noticed it a lot sooner as I had it down for 1-1…

And whilst you’re here, the Guardianista (well a few of them) seem to having problems sending their scores through. Please check for a “error message” and if you get one send to my GMail e-dress as pointed out a hundred million times previous, OR failing that, saunter (see, I remember how much work you do!) over to Mr Peaston and watch him send his scores cos he’s not had a problem as yet…

Cheers and soz again,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 7 – Roundup

Darren Fletcher:
Where the “Scottish Beckham” headed a goal to stop Chelski running away with it, Clare Nevin 44 (6) won this week at a canter, and is now herself running away with PAS, opening up a massive 17 point gap at the half way stage. Well done Clare. You shall receive £20 very soon. Will you spend it on a FC Utd rosette and scarf for Neil T since he’s been (prior to Sunday), sooooo disillusioned with Man Yoo?
Only The 40 Games Then:
Oh dear, John McSherry 11 (0) had more of a mare than the Lino at Selhurst Park…
Correct Score of the Week:
Everyone in the world it seemed got back on the dead cert that is Celtic 3-0, plenty on the Arse and Ipswich, a few on the 2-2 draw in Scotland, Neil B & Joanne G we’re on wonderful Wigan’s 0-2 and Will O got Hearts 3-0. However, this weeks props go to Danny A for his Millwall 1 Crewe 3 result. Scott A is still out front for the season though…
Bet of the Week:
Well it had to happen didn’t it! The week I forget to bet on the weekly winners recommendations, it comes in… a 5 timer with a good value Watford included! Anyone get on it? Johnny W, did you back your own predictions? How much did the accumulator come in at??? Please let me know and make me feel even worse…
News:
When you see the table you’ll notice “Mr 2-0” is back in business. I’ve had to refund one punter and that’s affected the “spot prizes” and 10th place. Sorry about that, but it was a special case. For those not familiar with Mr 2-0, he’s a made up man who gets the 2-0 score every week, so you can gauge your performance against the default score… just so you can see the value of taking part and having a think about it – or not!

Week 7 table

Tip Top :
As mentioned above, Clare Nevin is now a huge 17 points clear of the improving Karl C in 2nd.
Getting There :
Highest climber this week is a joint effort. Tim B & Richard L are both up 16 places to 14th & 16th respectively. Other movers of note are Stephen P (+11), Jazz S (+12), Jamie S (+9) and Olly O (+9)
Losing It :
Falling down the mostest this week is Neil T, down 14 places to 26th. Others slipping are Neil B (-7), Tapiwa M (-7), Me (-9), Ahmed A (-7), Andy B (-10) and Fred R (-10)
Rock Bottom :
As Martin S puts in his best performance of the season, Kim A is now 2 points behind John McS in the wooden spoon berth.
Spotters:
Tapiwa M at 17th (-7), Ahmed A at 27th (-7) and Julian F at 42nd (+3)
Cup Cut Off :
After Week 13 you need to be where Scott A (+4) is at present on 32nd spot to be invited to play in the Cup 2006.

Hopefully all the “reply all” and “out of office” messages aren’t coming thru now as Dave N has been slaving away all week to resolve the problem. Top man!

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 6 – Roundup

Hibees:
He owes it all to that lad who notched late doors for Soton cos it edged me out of winning the weekly prize – John Williamson 30(5) is this weeks winner and will no doubt spend the £20 on a “I Hate Sol” t-shirt or something equally bitter as the dirty Sp*rs yet again fail to beat Les Gooners despite us having our worst side out for years… Ha ha ha!
Sir Alex:
From hero to zero in one fell swoop, Pam Dyson 9(1) capitulates but is joined by a despondent Mackem in the form of Joanne Gracie 9(0)
Correct Score of the Week:
Quite a few of us got the Citeh score right for the only “bonus” points of the week. All other scores of note (Everton, Coventry, Wigan etc) were snaffled up by at least two people so for the first time in ages, we don’t have a CSW. Scott A is lovin’ it…
Bet of the Week:
Pam D didn’t get back to me and stand in Danny A was too late for me to send it round. Just as well really as it was a wrong un by 3.15… I won’t mention the bets Jon T and myself put on Friday night either! Johnny W, you’re up next mate.
News:
Meredith B had a bit of trouble getting their scores thru this week for some reason (an error report was sent). If this happens to you, either send it to my GMail e-dress ([email protected]) or forward on your scores later along with the error report so I can see when you originally tried to send. Just to make sure no skulduggery is going on, not that you lot would try such a thing…

Table after Week 6

Looking Good On The Dancefloor:
Ex indie-fop John Williamson is strutting his stuff up 8 places to lead the way by 2pts from Ben H.
Robot From 1984:
None of the bottom 3 moved but Martin Stafford is now only 4pts away from Kim A.
Explosion:
I may be officially “dole scum” (anyone got any vacancies at their place??!) but I’m movin’ on up and officially this weeks highest climber up 9 places to lucky 13th. Other movers include John W (see above), Neil Birchall (+6), Fred R (+6), Jamie S (+6) and Mark F (+7)
Frozen Shoulders:
Not only a 1-4 home defeat to Pompey (Pompey??!) to deal with, Joanne G is also this weeks furthest faller down 14 places to 33rd. Other stiffs are Stephen P (-8), Pam D (-9), Richard L (-8), Scott A (-10) and Olly O (-11).
Spotted:
Wayne C is up 3 to 17th, Gary B is up 2 to 27th and Matt G is up 3 to 42nd. Richard L is down 8 to 32nd ad where you need to be come Week 13 to get an invite to the Cup comp in 2006.

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 5 – Roundup

Pies :
Just like good ol’ Wigan Soul Athletic, this week’s winner provided the grim North with something to smile about. Pam Dyson 50 (10) produced one of the best winning scores for a long time and is there or thereabouts on the “best haul of correct scores in a week” board too. Congratulations Pam, £20 on it’s way for you to put towards the airfare when Man Yoo move to West Virginia next season…
Pires :
Scarily akin to scuffing a football with your studs from twelve yards out in front of a worldwide audience, Danny Ashworth fluffed his lines and scored 13(1). “Hey Danny! What’s the French for arrogant tw-”
Correct Score of the Week :
No one got the Cardiff score right (and if they did, there would’ve been a drugs test) or the Wigan one or the Fulham one (but a few of you we’re close on the latter two). I got the Sp*rs one, Andy B got the Toon-Mackem 3-2, but then so did Will O. This weeks best score goes to Gary Blackburne for his Falkirk 1 Dundee Utd 3. Obviously a massive fan. Actually I saw him at Cov-Palace last week and that Stone Island jumper was looking a bit strained round the midriff…
Bet of the Week :
True to form, Darryl M’s six-fold went out the window early doors and a few of us (well, me and Darryl) are £5 poorer. Mrs Dyson, it’s your turn this week!
News :
Quite a lot of you were plagued by mystery messages last week due to the “distribution list” work we were carrying out. If you receive these in the future please ignore! Also, you will notice that there is only one e-mail address to send the score to now (the “Yahoo!” one) so hopefully that will make your lives a whole lot easier in the future. As of Friday, you will not receive any updates from this e-dress as all communication will be done via the “dist list” link and my Yahoo! account.
Top Banana :
What do you get if you cross a plastic Scouser with a penchant for weak lager with a West Ham supporting Man of Kent who’s a referee? No, not a spin off series from "Two Pints of Lager, but a two headed predicting machine that’s one point clear at number one. Meredith (Neil) Butler (Stuart) are up seven places this week.
Banana Skin :
Seriously off kilter with Jewell & the Boys, Martin Stafford finds himself still rooted to 50th place but now 6 points adrift.
Green Bananas :
Highest climber this week is of course Pam Dyson, up a dizzying 28 places to 13th. Mentions to Karl C (+14), Simon L (+10), Michelle F (+8) and Matt W (+8)
Brown Bananas :
Withered most this week is Danny Ashworth down 21 to 44, mentions to, Steve T (-9), Pam R (-8), Jon T (-12), Matt G (-10) and John McS (-8)

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 3 – Roundup

Holland:
Nice story this, and a lesson to us all! Unfortunately, Tapiwa Madovi had to attend his nan’s funeral back in Zimbabwe last week, so P-A-S was the last thing on his mind. Luckily one of his mates at work sorted the scores for him in his absence and guess what? Yep, 42(7) was this weeks winning score! So, always make sure you’re nice to someone in work cos you never know when they’ll help you out! Now, whether Tapiwa will share the wealth or not is another matter…
Scotland:
In a week that failed to produce the usual rich pickings of 3+ goals in a game, Margaret Ashworth and Jim Bloor suffered most as they only chalked up 15(0) each.
Correct Score of the Week:
Pesky Luxemborg scuppered my 5-0 prediction by scoring a penalty in Russia and the other “big” score was had by many (Bosnia 3 San Marino 0). This week’s accolade goes to Fred Rowe who somehow worked out Georgia would draw 0-0 with Kazakhstan. Small compensation for missing the weekly prize by a point though…
News:
We might start the weekly winner giving his/her tip of the week for the gamblers amongst us – but after last years disaster, we might not…

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 2 – Roundup

Paddy Power’s League Champions:
It’s only taken him two weeks to notch his first win of the season, but win he has! This weeks £20 is going to JAZZ SIAN 43(6)and he can thank Norwich and Sheff Wed for that for providing 17 points between them. Still, he’s not got the Best Correct Score though… Congrats Jazz, £20 to squander on betting on dirty Sp*rs to finish higher than Arsenal eh?!!
Champions Of Europe:
Probably feeling a lot like “El Controller Gordo” after this weekend are BEN McKEOWN and MATT WORSFOLD who both chalked up a miserable 11 (0) each. And there’s even more misery for Ben in store when he sees the table… He he he!
Best Correct Score:
Charlton 2 Sp*rs 3? Nope (well done Stephen P and John W) Livvy 0 Celtic 5? Nope (well done Joanne G and Will O) QPR 1 Palace 3 ? No! (well done Stephen P and Margrit A). As you are well aware form reading the rules, BCS must be unique, predicted by no other. So, current title holder is SCOTT ASLETT for his FULHAM 2 MAN UTD 3 guess.
News:
The new supa-dupa scoring system seems to have been falwless though extensive checks are being run, so that’s all good. You have noticed another new e-dress from me too – for all Gmail’s goodness over Hotmail it’s a bit difficult filing e-mails so you may be instructed to send to a different e-dress this week, but we’re getting there, so go with me on this one!

Cheers,
Pab.

L13 Winter 2005 : Week 1 – Roundup

If you got single figures, you’re not alone!

If you got double figures, you’ve done well!

If you got 20+ you were in the shake up…

Wigan:
I think he’s one of the youngest winners we’ve had and he’s certainly recorded the lowest winning score I can remember (and I remember outside toilets..) and I think he’s a “pie eater”. Well done, Neil Birchall 28(5), our first winner this season. You truly triumphed in a dire week for predicting!
Everton:
A few people didn’t submit their scores for whatever reason and got an appalling score, but Ben McKeown 8(0) took the time to pore over the form and still managed one of the lowest scores ever recorded (he says from the heady heights of 9 points…)
Best Correct Score:
As you know, to have this accolade you must be alone in predicting said score. 4 people got the Jambo’s score right, 3 got Tranmere’s 2-2 draw and the fact that Villa would score but still lose and 2 got the Hibees fab away win at Motherwell (worth 8 points, rules fans! – big up Olly O and John McS). But only one person got the Mackems 1st win in the Premiership ever and he supports them the fool! Tony Dawson you currently hold the title, but I really can’t see it lasting…

Table and Week 2 scoresheets to follow – please read the instrctions carefully! I thankyou.

Cheers,
Pab.
